Good value. Grounds are mowed and neat, approximately 15 feet of grass between sites. Mostly long-term residents but was quiet except for some road noise. All sites are level pull through. Utilities located near center of site. Voltage and water pressure were good. Wifi signal was strong but would auto disconnect about every 10 or 15 minutes. Could only get three PBS TV channels with antenna. - campingdog

The other two reviews are good on the basic park description. I was parked in site #2 and had good WIFI. I needed no lifts as the site was level. The park is grass with gravel roads and sites. There is a concrete table at the sites and some have a grill. I would stay here again if I passed through Kansas on US 54. - A hitch and hop

First Impression: CG is nice but small and unassuming. Passport America discount, only. $25/day, $100/week, $300/month. Safety: no concerns - peaceful. Access: On US-54 at the west end of Iola, KS. Municipal roads in good condition. GPS took us directly there. Road signage is poor. Office: The owner/manager, easy going. No store. Facilities: No amenities. Office building has restrooms/showers and one clothes washer and dryer at the end of the hallway. Restrooms/showers are old, dirty, and moldy. Mold covered curtains separate shower "stalls". Ran out of hot water (score "D-"). Propane sales. No playground. Designated, on-leash, dog area. Storm shelter. Campground: In a flood area. Roads are gravel with gentle turns and no overhead obstacles. Sites are all pull-through and spacious. No tent area, yurts, or cabins. Electrical pedestals at mid-rig with FHU-20/30/50; with meters. Sites are level, grass/gravel in "ok" condition. Well-mowed grass between sites. Sewer pipe is 4" threaded, about 4" above ground level. Very strong water pressure with good taste. Nice concrete patio with concrete picnic tables. Numerous sites have raised charcoal grills/smokers. Open fires not permitted. Good satellite views. Free cable TV (? channels - didn't check). OTA TV found 5 channels. Free Wi-Fi with excellent coverage and bandwidth. Verizon phone at 4-bars; 4G coverage at 4-bars. No railroad or aircraft noise but notable street noise as US-54 is "right there". No recycle bins. Bug Report: variety of ants and small spiders (early May). Runners: CG roads ok for running or go to the Riverside Park (¼ mile east); no fitness room so no treadmills. Yoga: concrete patios are plenty big enough for your mat. Conclusion: Good for a short stop-over but not a destination CG. - StephenK

We stayed here to visit friends-luxury was not our objective. It's basically a barren parking lot with a few trees. Pull-through sites on east side of the ball field, back-ins on the west. As an RV park, this isn't much above a Wal-Mart parking lot. Services are minimal (no sewers, no picnic table, unclean and cramped rest & shower rooms, no laundry, located on a busy/noisy highway intersection) but each site does have a trash can and there is a dump station premises. That said, the dominant theme here is that the FIRST TWO NIGHTS ARE FREE! This is related to the unique high end Kansas RV resale & repair facility located nearby, providing a convenient overnight stay for waiting customers. The setting is a large and well-manicured city park sports complex. We were appreciative of having this opportunity. Although there is no dog park, there are acres of close cropped grass and plenty of trees surrounding the complex, a nearby large Wal-Mart store and plentiful fuel and shopping opportunities. We stayed in an asphalt pull-through site with side-by parking for our tow vehicle for two nights. Very basic, very Spartan, but would definitely do it again. - TMN-15

I'll just repeat and agree with the poster from May 2018. For free for the first two nights it's a fantastic value. No real negatives except lack of sewer connection at the sites. - rv1guy2cats

We spent a couple of nights here as we prepared to drop our 5th wheel off for service at NuWa. My guess is that over half the RVers who come to this city campground are here because of NuWa service and sales. No one can argue with the price: free for the first two nights, then just $10 a night after that. The campsites are basically parking lot sites with 30/50 amp electric and water. There is a dump station on site. This city campground even offers free WiFi! There are two sections. The east side is closest to S. Santa Fe Ave. and has all pull through sites and has the good WiFi signal. The west side sites are all back in and are close to restrooms (not well kept) and beyond the range of the WiFi. However, the sites are a bit wider and longer. They are also close to the dump station. We spent one night in the eastern section and then moved to a back in spot so we could stay hooked up and be ready to report in to the service center early the next morning. Some of the pull through sights are are just barely wide enough for two RVs. People who are trading RV's park the two rigs "face to face" so they can more easily move their belongings to their new digs. This is perhaps the only time you'll ever see a RVer happy to have another rig parked very close by! While Chanute isn't exactly a tourist destination, this is a great small town campground for a great price. - nazpaz

Nice little city park by a lake (not lakefront). Sites were not very well defined. They are back to back with each other. We took up 2 sites as they would've been too short otherwise. Sites are not very level at all. All utilities worked well although the sewer was about a foot above ground with a "y" for 2 lines to be connected and were totally open. No lids on either. It is self pay but no envelopes so we called the # listed and they asked if we could come by city hall to pay! There is a playground for kids. Good place for overnight. - jacknpeg
Mar 2017 - $10.00
This trip was just a short two night stay to ensure all was working well with our RV before starting our travels for the season. We enjoyed the park and riding around the community. There was no one else in the park. If it had been full we might have had problems with parking due to the size of our unit. Most of the sites appeared to fit two units and that might have been difficult for us. The park was clean, however the sites are not real level front to back but we were able to make it work okay. There was some playground equipment and bathrooms however we did not utilize any of the facilities except the RV sites. It sits south of a reservoir that was quite pretty and it offered beautiful sunrises and sunsets. A great restaurant in town "The Feedbunk" served a great breakfast. We would return to this park in the future. - Crpeine

Excellent value! Residents of Yates Center are so fortunate to have this little gem along with the reservoir and golf course. We only stayed one night but had full hookup, on your honor payment. Lots of cars in and out but quiet otherwise. Even saw a doe and her fawn lingering a few feet from our camper. Would stay longer if time permitted. - Zzpfeiff
