We called to see if there were sites available before coming. We did not make reservations since sites were available. They have some sites that are reservable and some at first come. The park has 2 loops, one 30 amp -B and one 50 amp-A. We stayed in 11 A which is reservable but empty so were told that it was OK for one night. There were sites on the water but we chose a site in the trees because of the wind being strong that day. Our backin site was fairly level spacious and long enough for our 40' mh and car. Good 50 amp , the water pressure was 90# so used a regulator. We were across from the restroom which had an odor because the wind was blowing in our direction but as the weather was cool we stayed inside with windows and vents closed. It was very peaceful. We dumped on the way out near the entrance. We would stay here again. (see tips) We camped at West Rolling Hills - COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Do not use gps to navigate here. We did and it took us to East Rolling Hills. We had to disconnect our car there in order to back up and turn mh around . Also when we left our site following our stay we had to go to loop to turn around so that we could exit park we had to drive across the grass as the loop was designed for short rvs. Fortunately the ground was dry and solid. The park is 6 miles off I 70 so it worked good for an overnight stop.

We stayed two weeks in a large site which was long enough for the 5th wheel and the truck AND was wide enough we could park the motorcycles next to the truck with room to spare. A shady level spot with gravel pad. We did use our leveler bricks to level the picnic table because we moved it creating the "lean". The downfall was the mosquitoes. Although we were not lakeside, the mosquitoes were so bad we could not sit outside very long. We would definitely stay again. We camped at West Rolling Hills - COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Fishing was excellent off the point. We went on motorcycle rides and visited friends so did not do much sightseeing.

We were just needing a place to stay one night that wasn't too far off the hwy. and this was perfect, it was about 6 miles off of I-70 before Junction City, roads were a bit narrow but hardly any traffic. Stayed in A loop in space 6. It was a bit hairy trying to make the loop in our 38ft. class A. Other than that it was a beautiful place and quiet, we would come back and hopefully stay a little longer. We camped at West Rolling Hills - COE in a Motorhome.

The park was difficult for our GPS to locate. There is no COE sign easily visible from Kansas Route 244, and K-244 was an unknown route to our updated Garmin. If this is your destination use coordinates 39.07681 and 96.92474. The park itself has lots of gravel sites in two loops. They offer water and electric with a dump & trash station at the entrance. We booked what appeared to be one of the last two sites available only to learn ( from a regular at this park ) that sites divisible by 3 ( 3 thru 15 and 16 ) cannot be reserved and are on a first come basis. At least two of these "open" sites would have served us better than the one we reserved as far as satellite reception was concerned. We also learned that nobody patrols this facility as evidenced by trash in our fire pit and loud music from a site a few hundred yards away. The closest eating/shopping is at least 5 miles away and the better places are on Ft. Riley, which is open only to the military or retirees. The closest bath house did not include any shower facility. Our Verizon cell and the associated hot spot allowed us access to the internet. They close and lock the campground gates at 10 PM and open at 7 AM. Sites 1-16 in Loop A offer 50 amp, all other sites are 30 amp only. They offer a tenting area and a separate fish clean station near the park entrance. This is probably a boating and fishing paradise - especially here in Kansas. The Golden Age/Senior Pass discounted our site to 9.00 per night. We camped at West Rolling Hills - COE in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed at the West Rolling Hills section of the Milford Lake COE. This campground has two loops – A & B. Loop A has 15/50 amp electrical outlets, flush toilets and most of the non-reserved sites do not have a view of the lake. Loop B has 15/30 amp electrical outlets, vault toilets and a large number of non-reserved sites have a view of the lake. There was 1 non-reserved and 2 reserved sites that were pull-thrus. All of the interior roads were on asphalt and the sites were on packed gravel. The interior roads were very narrow considering that they were two way streets. Each loop had a narrow circle to turn around. The electrical voltage was good hovering around 120 volts. All sites had a fire ring and a picnic table. The electrical box and water was in the correct position. Check out time was 6 P.M. and the park attendances are duty at 5 P.M. There are two dump stations and the showers are near the entrance to the campground. The shower house contained 8 stalls per gender. The interior of the shower room was very dated and looked institutional. Not very appealing. The dumpsters were also located near the entrance to the campground. From any site it will be a long walk to the showers or to throw out your trash. Some of the sites were more level then others. There was a dip from the road in most of the sites. Depending upon the size of your rig and/or the length of the site, it could be tricky to get into. Verizon air card and cell phone worked well here. It was very quiet at night except when Fort Riley was on maneuvers. The price reflects the senior discount rate. We would come back here again if we were in the area. We camped at West Rolling Hills - COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Great campground. A little out of the way, but convenient to the Eisenhower Library in Abilene. Typical COE campground with nice large sites and great views of the lake. Fee reflects senior discount. We camped at West Rolling Hills - COE in a Motorhome.

Pretty typical COE campground, except that it has pretty low power. First time we've come across this in a COE campground. Sites are large, but not very level. For $9 with an access pass you can't beat it. Nice and quiet and a short 7 mile drive off the interstate. We camped at West Rolling Hills - COE in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a beautiful park. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. 2/3 of the sites are reservable, and 1/3 are walk up only. The A loop has 50 amp electricity (in most sites), but it also has an extremely tight cul-de-sac turnaround with a tree in the middle--not recommended for fifth wheels longer than 32'. The B loop has 30 amp electricity (in most sites) and has three pull-throughs. Some of the B loop sites will accommodate big rigs. However, the B loop is lower ground and floods first when the water rises. We camped at West Rolling Hills - COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

If you stay here, do NOT stay in sites B-30, 31, 32, 33, 34...these are right next to each other and absolutely NO privacy. It's like your in a cul-de-sac, and you are right next to each other. The other sites have their own private areas though. This offered a nice lake to fish at, and they had a very small "beach" area and place to swim. I rated this lower because we were in site B-32 and at 12:45 in the morning I had to go to the people next to us who had 3 tents spread all over the place and ask them to please move from right behind our RV. There was no monitoring of how many tents/people were in our cul-de-sac. The people next to us ended up with 15 people in one site. Also, there is only 1 bath house that we could find and we had to drive to it--it was a LONG way away. Not sure what the campers used next to us for a bathroom! We would definitely NOT go back here. We camped at West Rolling Hills - COE in a Motorhome.

This is a Corps of Engineer campground and is our very favorite place to camp in Kansas. They have added more sites with hookups near the beach and added new restrooms in Loop B campground. Every campsite is spacious and grassy. And it's so quiet at night. All the campsites are right next to the lake, which is Milford Lake, the largest lake in Kansas. There is a marina right next to the campground. The showers are impeccably clean. Each individual shower has it's own dressing area with privacy doors. We camped at West Rolling Hills - COE in a Travel Trailer.
