This is a nice state park with spacious sites and free wi-fi! We stayed in the Kanza loop which are "premium" sites. Nice shade trees but little privacy. The shower house is dated and in dire need of a cleaning. Lots of flying insects (non-biting), but I attibuted that to the proximity of the water and time of year. - MSSW

Glen Elder State Park looks upon one of the largest lakes in Kansas. The campgrounds were very clean. I had a pull through where the drive was gravel, but it had a concrete pad for the RV. It was very close to level. The views are great. Lots of birds. The fishing must be pretty good from what I saw. Dump stations only, no sewer at the sites. I want to go again. - rvrev2
Aug 2016 - $21.00
The sites at the south end of the Kanza loop are mostly covered by trees and fairly spacious with flat concrete pads. Those at the north end are more utilitarian, crammed next to each other on a gravel lot.
We very much enjoyed our stay here, but be warned there can be a LOT of bugs here in August. We had a swarm of hundreds clinging to our slideouts and I had to have my wife continually swat them away while I pulled in the slideouts on our departure morning. And no matter how fast you come in and out at night, expect your ceiling to have several dozen tiny new visitors each time you open the door.
We had a good Verizon signal here and the campground's wifi worked well. It was very quiet during our midweek stay. Kanza site 34 has a great lake view if you have a passenger-side dinette. It looks like the ocean due to the flat terrain. - Brad & Angela
Nov 2017 - $24.00
Small graveled RV park located right next to a convenience store (with fishing equipment), bar & grill and a fuel station. Easy access and very quiet. Cable TV very clear. Conveniently located within a few minutes of Waconda Lake (aka Glen Elder Reservoir). The 20 square mile lake boasts of great fishing with 100 miles of shoreline. There were no year round residents and managers live on-site and were very friendly and helpful. - travelingpeople
May 2017 - $30.00
This is a sad little park surrounded by ag/industrial activities and is overpriced for what you get. The sites are fairly level and long enough but only a few are graveled and the rest are grass. Only 4 or 5 have 50A service with the rest being 30A. The fence surrounding 2 sides of the park is in desperate need of repair. Adding a fence along the north side of the park would help to separate it from the noise and sight of a farm implement repair and welding business. The exit road has a large mud puddle the could and should be filled with gravel. There is a new hospital being built in town and my understanding is that large number of the persons involved in the building of it are travelers and so I think that explains the relatively high price charged to stay here. The park seems to have a wifi connection but that connection has no internet access. I rated the service as bad due to that and that there was no owner/manager on sight to voice concerns to. The park is on an honor system, you choose your site and then go the kiosk to deposit cash or check as payment. Would I stay here again? Unfortunately, yes, as it is the only park near the family we come here to visit. - Chalkie
Aug 2015 - $25.00
As previously described this is a basic park good for overnight stops. Easy access from US 36 on the West side of town. All sites are full hookups with some 50Amp. Excellent free WIFI. Good Verizon signal 4G+. Park is level and grass covered. - CharlieB
