Passport America discount rate of $15 plus $3 for 50 amp electric. The site was gravel, level, and pull-thru with FHU. The services worked well. We had good Verizon voice and data reception and good DishTV satellite reception. The park offers free WiFi, but we did not use it. The park was quiet at night. The owner is quite friendly and helpful. The park is very basic, but is convenient to Oswego and the surrounding area. This was our second stay here and we would stay again. We camped at Hillside RV Park in a Motorhome.

We pulled in on a Saturday afternoon and noticed a slide storage compartment looking strange. This is a compartment that comes out with the slide. By late afternoon on Saturday, I figured I'd have to wait until Monday to find a shop that could weld the broken bolts. The manager spent some time looking at the problem and then said he has an uncle that could weld those parts. I was somewhat skeptical but Sunday morning the manager and his uncle took the parts and came back about an hour later with them welded together. The manager and I installed the bolts and we were under way by noon Sunday. Neither would take any money for the help. Such a great thing to know there are still people out there that will help you simply because they can. I know if I ever get back in that area that's where I'll stay and I suggest you do too. Sites were level, with good power & septic. We camped at Hillside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Owner is extremely friendly and very accommodating - we required service repair from a mobile RV service and ended up having to stay extra days due to problems getting the parts and the repairman then having his own vehicle problems! Owner told us not to worry about paying for the extra days, but we paid anyway since it was a very good value with Passport America and we were using electricity, water and sewer! All utilities worked well and site was fairly level. WIFI was generally good, even though we were not close to the booster, but it did have a couple of hiccups we had to wait out. Still, able to pay bills and other necessities, so no big problem. Over-the-air (antenna) television was fine (about 20 stations, but some have the same shows). The park is divided in half, with one side being older mobile homes. Very quiet and there is plenty of room to walk a dog or just yourself! Grocery store is also within easy walking distance. No laundry facilities in the park. Would definitely return here if in the area again. We camped at Hillside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Little House on the Prairie site is only about an hour away, in Independence KS and worth t he visit. Big Brutus, about 20 minutes away is very much worth the visit and admission is reasonable. The town is also a nice one to ride your bikes around - we rode down to a nearby river (maybe 15 minutes on bike).

We are always pleased with this park. The sites are very long and level. Water pressure is good. WiFi is excellent if you stay near the booster at site 18. The owner is now a friend. He keeps the place nicely mowed and has plans for a fenced dog park, laundry facilities and showers. We always feel safe here and will continue to use this park when we are on the area. We camped at Hillside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Go to see Big Brutus. Try the habanero and ghost pepper cheeses at Angelo's in Hallowell (about 5 miles from Oswego.) Eat at Mi Pueblo in Oswego and have the queso dip.

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very quiet and pleasant park. In June it changed ownership and, having been very happy with the previous owner, we were a bit apprehensive. However, the new owner is amazing! From the time we arrived until we left it felt like he was a friend and not a business owner. One side of the RV park backs up to a trailer park that has several older trailers but the people who live there are quiet, stay to themselves, and keep their areas clean. The other side of the park is a pasture with cattle and horses. While there is not a fenced dog run, there is adequate sticker-free area to walk dogs. Due to no other dogs around, the owner allowed us to run our dogs off-leash with their shock collars. The new owner is planning to have a fenced dog run in 2018. The WiFi is fast and reliable if you park close to the booster which is located at site 18. I absolutely cannot say enough good about this park. We will definitely stay here again. We've actually fallen in love with the little town of Oswego. If you stay here, be sure to eat at the little Mexican restaurant called "Mi Pueblo." It's authentic Mexican food and yummy. While there is not a laundromat in the park, there is one in town on the road headed east out of town. The park manager is hoping to eventually add a laundry facilities. We camped at Hillside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Eat at Mi Pueblo! Also, go see Big Brutus, a HUGE earth mover that was used in the 1960s to remove over-burden for coal mining. On your way back from Big Brutus, stop at Angelo's Deli, in the little town of Halowell, for some of their habanero, ghost pepper and Carolina reaper cheeses.

While we were there the park was very quiet. There are a few full-time residents and the park backs up to a mobile home park. However it was clean and neat. There is not a fenced dog walk but there is a large field that is bordered by trees that our dogs enjoyed. The owners are friendly without being intrusive. They have recently sold the park. I hope the new owners are as nice as the old owners. We camped at Hillside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a basic no frills campground. It is maintained very well and quiet. The owners also own the mobile home park next door and it is very clean and neat. The sites are good sized, gravel with a nice grassy area, and long enough for our 37-foot RV, tow-dolly and parking the car. Some sites have trees for shade and there are open ones as well. The owners were wonderful. We got all hooked up and discovered that the electric didn't work. We called them and they came right over and put in a new breaker so we didn't have to unhook everything and move to a new spot. There is a large field for dog walking. We had full hook-ups, the WiFi was slow a few times but most of the time it worked well. Our Verizon signal was moderate but our hotspot worked fine when we needed it. We stayed the last week in September 2016 and paid $18 a night with our Passport America discount. We camped at Hillside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Passport America rate, no limit on number of days at the discounted rate. Small park with no amenities, but all sites were level and services worked well. We stayed for five nights while doing genealogy in the area. Hillside RV Park met our needs. We would stay here again. We camped at Hillside RV Park in a Motorhome.

This small campground has great pull through sites; we are 43 ft pulling a jeep. My AT&T air card worked fine. Gravel road in, but sites are a joy to see when get up the short hill. Passport park so very reasonable rate. Owner is very nice and friendly, and the park has some lovely flowers. Quiet area with open or treed sites. We will definitely be back when we are in this part of the country. This is for self contained units only as they do not have restroom/showers. We camped at Hillside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice little campground in a quiet little Midwest town with long pull-thru spaces. Even though there is no laundry at the campground, there's a nice one in town about a mile away. Wifi is via the owner's connection and really isn't too good; in fact, we couldn't even get on it but my Verizon hotspot (and phone) worked just fine. About 8 channels on antenna. Rate is Passport America rate and is good for as long as you want to stay (within reason). Owners are very nice and helpful; grocery store and Dollar General across the road; Sassy Subs, Sonic, and hospital all within a mile. Big Brutus (world's largest electric shovel) about 20 minutes away. Worth going to see, for sure. About 6 geocaches within 5 miles. We would definitely stay here the next time we come through the area and recommend it for others that don't need a lot of bells and whistles. We camped at Hillside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
