Overall Rating:

I stayed here 3 nights in site E15 while passing through in a 27 foot motorhome with tow car. This campground is about 15 miles off of I-70 which is quite a bit further than the other COE campgrounds on Perry Lake. It is not as well laid out as some COE campgrounds nor as well kept up. There are five loops but only two have water and electric hookups -- Loops A and E. E is up on a hill and the sites are closer together than usual in COE parks and they are of varying size -- many are very small. Loop A was more of a grid. There is a lot of grass and some shade depending on your site. None of the sites are on the lake but most have some sort of a lake view. My site backed up to trees and the water and electric were down a fairly serious slope. There wasn't much grass area and there was quite a bit of mud and puddles next to the road. It was level but many of the other sites in Loop E were not. The park has a small boat ramp and a minimal playground. Interior roads are paved and easy to navigate. No swimming area -- the lake was quite muddy. The sites appear to have recently had gravel added to build them up. The gravel is large and very rough and just kind of spread around everywhere. There are no trails. I didn't use the bathrooms. Verizon was excellent. Water and sewer worked well although my water spigot had a serious leak. The campground was nearly deserted while I was there during the week. This COE campground was not nearly as nice as many of the other ones I have stayed at. However, the no hookup sites down by the lake in loops B and D were very nice. Loop E just felt like a not very well designed after thought. The price reflects a Senior Pass discount. We camped at Old Town Campground COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Kansas Museum of History is about a half hour drive away and well worth the trip. There is a spectacular 18 hole disc golf course at Longview Campground/Park which is a few miles down Ferguson Road (the campground appeared to be closed).
