Large grassy sites with a great view of Perry Lake. Quiet and comfortable; all that you expect from a Corp of Engineers property. The roads are in need of resurfacing but everything else is great. We stayed on the Worthington loop. We camped at Slough Creek COE in a Motorhome.

This is an older COE Campground located on Perry Lake approximately 25 minutes outside Lawrence. The park has large gravel sites in an open, grassy setting. Interior asphalt roads are broken apart which need replacement. Hookups worked well and there is a paved dump station with water hookups to clean tanks located at the campground exit. A little worn and beat compared to most COE campgrounds we have visited. We camped at Slough Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed visiting the quaint downtown shopping area located on Massachusetts Ave in Lawrence. There were lots of unique restaurants, coffee shops, and business in the area.

Overall Rating:

The campground is located on rolling hills overlooking Perry Lake and the dam. It is part of 5 campgrounds located within the same area (some are tent only). Slough Creek, as part of the Corps of Engineer, does not have sewage and only inner sites have 30 amp and water. Outer sites do not have electric, water, or sewage. Water had good taste. Campsites are gravel with easy back-in. All sites have moveable campfire ring and picnic bench. Tents are permitted with RV. Since the sites are on a slopping hill, most sites have a view of the lake. Easy access to lakeside. Restrooms are located throughout the campground which has a large number of sites. Pets are permitted. "Playground" is only a swing set. Two nice trails, about 1.5 miles, originate/end at the campground. Small grocery store about 5 miles toward dam. Also, near dam is a bar/grill. Dump station has two receptacles and a freshwater station. We camped here with in a Travel Trailer. We camped at Slough Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of trails to hike which are well maintained. Also, nice winery (www.crookedpostwinery.com) located within 15 minutes on K-92 Hwy.

The "Geezer Pass" pays off again. Our spot was pretty level in The Worthington Loop. The 50 amp service was spot on. The water will need to be toned down with your pressure regulator. The water quality was excellent. The hookups were well placed. There is a dump station in the loop as well as a paved one at the entrance to the park. The whole park is well cared for and beautiful. The staff here is excellent. Come on Corps of Engineers, get some recycling in your parks. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Slough Creek COE in a Motorhome.

We've stayed here a few times and it's very nice. It's typical for the Corps of Engineer parks in this area. LOTs of space between sites, nice boat ramp and plenty of room to "spread out." It gets pretty busy around Holidays and long weekends but we think that adds to the fun. They have separate areas that allow and do not allow pets - which is really nice. No sewer (bummer), good water pressure, good electric, good tv reception, no camp store, not too close to anything so pack accordingly. We camped at Slough Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Some sites are more level than others - if you have the opportunity and time, I'd recommend driving through the park to find the right spot for you and your set up. Waterfront sites go very fast on weekends.

This is your typical COE park. Lots of space between sites. Some sites are smaller than others. We have a 45-footer and it worked for us. If entering this park from the south, make sure the bridge is open. If not you need to enter from the North. We would stay here again. We camped at Slough Creek COE in a Motorhome.
