Apr 2017 - $31.00
We stayed here a night. A bit run down, probably due to state budget issues. No staff while we were here, self-pay a bit difficult to suss out. Overall a good experience, especially with the flock of wild turkeys in the early morning. - lacanadio
Oct 2016 - $29.00
This is a very beautiful park on a lake. However, we were so frustrated by the time we got here, we couldn't enjoy it. First we pulled into the entrance but it wasn't staffed, no instructions and no visible camping. We drove further and found some campers but there was a locked gate into the sites. So we drove all around the lake and this time we saw a tiny sign which was a picture of a man by a building. This was the right entrance. At the self pay station the map didn't have a "you are here" indication so we couldn't understand it so we drove around. Very confusing signs indicated different grades of sites yet no where at the sites did it indicate anything. We drove back to the station to see the map. Then we chose a site and then had to walk a long ways back to the station to pay. Our site was $24.00 plus entry fee of $5.00. The rest rooms & showers had a partial roof so was open air and no curtains on the showers. All sites appear to be reserved for the weekend. No sign indicating a camp host and no one around to get some help. No TV reception with antenna. - B Eide

Beautiful scenic park to relax at. Plenty of room between sites. Grassy and a welcome surprise after living in cramped gravel lots. Pets loved the shade trees. Will go again. - Gypsy8
Aug 2014 - $25.00
Passing through Liberal recently, at the last minute we decided against another RV park. A quick search online turned up Arkalon, and it ended up being an extremely pleasant surprise. The setting is beautiful, much more pleasant than I had expected to find in that area of the state. It was a breeze to get the trailer parked, a boon to these novice travelers. The water connector seemed to be surprisingly far away, and our water hose was short by at least 10 feet. Fortunately, the campground host had several spares (which makes me think that perhaps this is common problem). The park staff was helpful and kind, and the abundant wildlife was a hit with my kids. That was a good thing, because the "playground" turned out to be just two sets of swings, so if I had a suggestion for improvement, it would be to upgrade the playgrounds. Oh, and while the water is acceptable for drinking, it makes lousy coffee :) Bring along a bottle or two for brewing -- you'll thank yourself! And all this for just $25/night -- Arkalon is truly a hidden gem! - User3639
May 2013 - $15.00
After much of the last six months spent at RV parks with gravel/dirt sites, this was like a breath of fresh air. Shaded by plenty of trees, this grassy park is just a lovely place to spend some time. RVers should know right off that there was nearly two miles of washboard-rutted dirt road, not very dusty, and fine if you go very slow. Any rigs longer than 35 feet might have trouble maneuvering the turns and hill. There are about 30 sites, four of them with concrete slabs. All have electric 20/30 and some sites have water available but most are on the opposite side from the electric hookup. Most sites have picnic tables and firepits. There is a volleyball court and a large covered picnic area. The bathrooms and showers are basic, but clean. The camp host makes it his job to see that everyone is welcome and comfortable. Even though the train is about 100 feet away, it is up an incline and can hardly be heard. There is no traffic noise. We would definitely stay here again if in the area, maybe for a longer period next time. There is a fishing pond about 1/4 mile from the camping area and it is well stocked with bass and catfish. A Kansas fishing license is required. It's a wonderful place for pets as well. The gate to the park is locked at 10:00PM and unlocked at 7:00AM. There is limit of 14 days at a time. - Maudeen

Oct 2016 - $45.00
Tree branches, huge ones, would fall and beat the trailer all night. Woke up and saw a huge branch that missed the trailer by a foot it, would have done horrible damage . Owner is friendly others not so much. - Sherri Davis
Jan 2016 - $22.00
Clean neat older place, pretty quiet, a few older units looked long term but no junk. Huge old cottonwoods. Small town, felt safe. We would stay again for overnight. - Vanda Pieru
Sep 2015 - $25.00
Price reflects one night. Small campground located behind motel. Needs a little work. Driveway that is tree lined, trees need to be cut back. Take same driveway but turn and take road without trees. Interior roads are gravel. Grass/gravel back ins which have shade and big pull thrus with no shade. The pull thrus are interesting on getting out onto the street, have to go over a two inch bump and curb. Pull site was very unlevel. Side to side, front to back. If you don't have air bags on your truck you will have to unhitch. Not sure how it would work on a MH. Close to Highway 54, so might be some road noise. Lots of cable TV channels. Internet is worthless. Four bars on Verizon. Some what easy in & out with a HDT & trailer. - Tallboy

This is a park in the middle of Nowhere, KS. The site was wide open, no trees and gravel streets. With that being said, it is a great overnight stop on Route 54 in Nowhere, KS. The manager was very friendly and helpful. Hookups were very good. - bigben
Jun 2017 - $30.00
Office opens at 5 so if you arrive before that you pick your site and stop at the office after 5. $32 but I paid cash and got charged $30. No other discounts. This is a wide open campground- no trees- no frills- 5 miles outside of Liberal. Train tracks near highway 54. - ontheroadmama
Jun 2017 - $32.00
Large pull through sites. Some highway and train noise but not objectionable. Highway 54 does not have lots of traffic. We could not get wi-fi at our site. Verizon good. Sites are narrow and not enough room to put out a table and chairs. This place is good for spending the night when traveling through. - Windshift

Apr 2016 - $15.00
Seward County Fairgrounds located in Liberal has 10 FHU sites. Dry camping is also available. All of the utilities are located in the back of each site. You will need a long water hose to reach the spigot. All of these sites have 30/20 amp electrical service. The electrical voltage was strong - hovering around 125. I believe that 50 amp electrical service is available but with no water.
All of the sites were on gravel. Some of the sites were muddy after a heavy rain. WiFi is not available. A bathroom with a shower was available but was the typical brick bare bone structure. It was clean but definitely not appealing. We chose not to use them. A neighborhood Walmart recently opened across the street. This Walmart also have fueling station (gas and diesel).
We would come back to this fairground if we were in the area. We have a 32 foot 5th wheel. - adsaxs
Sep 2012 - $10.00
The earlier review of this RV park is the reason we stayed here. Only one site of the 12 was occupied when we arrived. A county maintenance worker stopped in his truck with useful info about the location of the drop box across the street. Sites are clean and level, with no satellite obstructions. Hookups are all at the back of the sites. - GypsySDR
Sep 2011 - $15.00
We saw the fairgrounds sign while driving through Liberal and decided to see if they had a campground. They have 12 sites with new electric boxes for 30 and 50 amp. There are water and sewage hookups at each site. All of the gravel sites looked to be level. Payment can be made during office hours or left in the drop box on the north side of the Event Center. Hook up prices are as follows: electric only is $10.00 per night, water & electric are $15.00 per night and full hook-ups are $30.00 per night. There were county trucks and road-graders going by during the day but they didn't bother us. Verizon cell signal was 5 bars and our Verizon internet card was very fast at 4-5 bars. There are no obstacles to block satellite signals. We will stay here again. GPS coordinates are: N 37 02.826, W100 56.581 - Steve & Mary
