I stayed in site 4 for two nights while passing through in a 27 foot motorhome with tow car. This COE park is located behind the dam creating Wilson Lake and is about 9 miles north of I-70. It is a beautiful area and beautiful lake but there is very little else around. It is a typical spread out COE park with very spacious, level, paved sites, all very well maintained, with lots of grass and big shade trees. There is a boat ramp down the road but there is no swimming beach at this park. To swim you would need to go to the state park down the road or COE's Lucas Park which has a beach but no shade. I was there on a weekend and most of the sites were taken. Most sites are very long pull-throughs located on two loops -- one is 30 amp and the other is 50. On the website all sites (14-25) on the 50 amp loop come up as handicap sites and you get a warning that you can be moved if necessary. A little strange. All these sites were taken and I'm sure they weren't all handicapped folk. There are a few back in sites. I really liked my site except that there is one light in the park near the fee station and it is VERY bright and it was very close. I'd pick a site further away from the fee station next time. Dump station well positioned. Roads were easy to navigate. There is a short hiking trail down the road. Verizon worked well. Water and electric were excellent. Price reflects Senior Pass discount. Very quiet and pleasant park well worth the extra nine miles off of I-70 for those passing through. We camped at Sylvan Park COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

For dog folk there is a dirt road that runs down the hill to the lake which is about a mile from the park. The road is located off the main highway about halfway between the dam information kiosk and the boat ramp. It is marked only with a small "no camping" sign. There is a mowed area along the lake and the road makes a big loop back to the highway. Lovely place to let your dog run off leash and swim in the lake which is very shallow along the shore and has a rocky/sandy bottom.

Our second time at this park. There are only a couple full hook-up sites of which we had reserved one. Sites are long and level; hookups all function properly. Park is very quiet during the week, less so on the weekend when families and boaters arrive. Nicely situated in a grove of cottonwood trees below the dam. Nice walking/nature trail nearby. We camped at Sylvan Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Nearby Lucas is a delightful small town. The Garden of Eden is a not-to-be-missed attraction. Also a must-do is Brant's meat market, established in 1922, I believe. Best meat I have ever purchased, bar none, plus congenial owner who is happy to discuss Lucas history. In my previous review, I commented on the lack of grocery stores. This time around, we found a perfectly adequate store (also with good meat) in Wilson.

Small COE park located on the spillway of Wilson Dam (no view of lake at campground). However, beautiful Sylvan Lake is located just on the other side of the spillway. Sites are level pull thru with W&E only. Quiet park with many trees. Nice, friendly host. We camped at Sylvan Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Most people that come here spend the day at Sylvan Lake (large beautiful lake). Small town of Wilson (Czech capital of Kansas) has small grocery store & restaurant (also know for the largest Czech Egg). Small town of Lucas is an artsy town (Garden of Eden - cabin & carvings), art section in town with Fork Art and other art pieces.

Loved this park! It's quiet with squirrels, rabbits, birds and lots of big cottonwood trees. There's a nearly 1 mile nature walk about 1/4 mile down the road. We camped at Sylvan Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

This is not on the lake, it's on the spill-way side - still a nice place to stay. Check yourself and animals for ticks.

The rate is off season with senior pass. There are a few sites with sewer hookup but locked at this time of year. Water and electric worked fine. Sites are long enough to accommodate any size camping unit and very level. Very nice CoE park with trails, playground for children. Park is in a pleasant grove of trees. We camped at Sylvan Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We have been unable to Iocate much in the way of nearby grocery shopping. Be prepared to drive a bit if you don't bring adequate supplies with you.

I first went to the State Park at Wilson lake but the cost to stay was quite high. The nice rangers redirected me to this COE park up by the dam. It has nice level gravel sites in a grass and tree camp area. Lots of extra big pull-through sites as it is a custom there in Kansas to pull a boat trailer behind a super big 5th wheel. Very nice restroom/shower facilities. Stay here and save money. We camped at Sylvan Park COE in a Motorhome.

Such a lovely setting. Quiet (no trains), bird songs to serenade us evening and morning. Smooth flat road for short bike ride. We camped at Sylvan Park COE in a Motorhome.
