Just an overnight stay for us. It's a little more difficult to get in and out, not right off the highway but not too bad. We stayed in a pull through by the road but the noise did not bother me (I use a sound machine to block noises) The campground is clean and well kept, office staff was friendly, our site was level. Very close to the neighboring site right beside who parks in the opposite direction. With both parties' slides out, there was probably 18" between the slides. On the door side there was plenty of space. There is a pool, a dog park and a little lake with walking trails. Our site was good for satellite, good Verizon signal and park has some WiFi but office should give the WiFi name on check in. Three different Cap city WiFi names show up in the list - trial and error with the password until one worked. Would stay overnight again. We camped at Topeka / Capital City KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is sad to write because the owners and staff of the campground have made a beautiful place. It is very well cared for and pretty all around. However, if you actually like to sleep at night, this is not the place to do it...VERY NOISY all night long. It is near a busy highway that never stops, also has trains with loud whistles and even a regional airport that is noisy at night. They advertise internet, but it was non-existent no matter what time of the day or night we tried getting on. When I checked in, the office person advised that it might be "difficult" to get on because people might be downloading movies, etc. Funny thing though, there were a lot of RV's when we got in around 2 pm but we saw almost no one outside and very few cars or trucks around the RV's...they came in later. I thought it was quite pricey also at $39.40 with a discount. The pool is nice, but has slippery steps and bottom, but the temp was delightful. Our site was not level and had a drop off about a foot from our last step, plus the connection to electric was too long for our 50 amp cord, so we had to use our 30 amp cord as a connector, meaning we couldn't use both air conditioners. Cable tv had less than 30 channels, and only 3 high def. We ended up using our antenna and got better reception. Our site was in the "big rig" section, which has to be the noisiest section. Ever. We would not stay here again, sadly, because we got no rest at all. We camped at Topeka / Capital City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This KOA is rather typical in that the sites are close and the and space just long enough for our travel trailer and tow vehicle. A special nice touch is that this KOA is exceptionally well landscaped with two big ponds, lots of walking space and hey have done some upgrades and improvement since out last visit. This is a place we will stop again. Since it is Kansas, it is important to note this campground has a spacious storm shelter under the big distinctive red barn. We camped at Topeka / Capital City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a lot of construction going on in the area so we had to rely on the yellow KOA signs to get there rather than our GPS once we were close. The detour is well marked but the signs are small and you have to look for them.

At first does not look like much, but it has a good layout and turned out to be very nice campground. There are 8 "Big Rig" sites (58-65). Pull throughs (sites 1-37) and some back in sites. Our site 33 was just long enough for my 36' motor home and toad without unhooking. (sat friendly). Many of these sites have a slight drop off at the end. There are also deluxe patio sites. Sites are gravel/dirt with grass in between. FHU's good. Sewer a bit to the rear, may need extension if your bay is mid rig. Good Verizon and T-Mobile signal. Wifi - (5 Ghz 30 Mps down.) 2.4 Ghz was hard to get on, 5 Ghz did drop often. Many satellite friendly sites also treed sites. Propane on site. Grass areas for rover and a K-9 park. I did need a board under one wheel to level, but did not see any other rigs with boards. Camp store open to 8pm. Laundry rooms are in two places ($1.50 wash). There are cabins and tent areas. Playground, fishing ponds, saltwater pool, exercise rooms. There is a storm basement in main building. You may not want to trust your GPS to get here, some roads may have changed. There is one way in on a loose gravel road, and another over paved roads. If you call they will give directions over the paved roads. Campground near interstate, but not noisy. We thought it was a fine KAO for our overnight stay. We camped at Topeka / Capital City KOA in a Motorhome.

The road in is gravel and dusty but once you reach the campground entrance it looks park like. We had a deluxe pull through site that had plenty of room and was very nice. Site was situated so we got shade from out camper in the afternoon, very nice. Lots of full time residents but sites were well maintained. Lots for kids to do but still quiet at night. We would definitely stay again. We camped at Topeka / Capital City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here one night on our trip home. Dirt road to get to the Campground, gravel site not level, close to one another, barely enough room for our vehicle. Dog park okay but fairly far away over a small bridge. Okay for one night but I wouldn't want to stay longer. There were storms that night and when we checked in we weren't told about what to do in case of a tornado and if there was a tornado shelter. Being in tornado alley they really should inform campers what the process is. Are there sirens, do they come and blow their horns, where the shelter is, are pets allowed etc etc. In addition there was a lot of flooding around the camp sites due to the storm. We camped at Topeka / Capital City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful park convenient to highways. Fishing ponds and vintage restored barn created a scenic setting beyond simply pulling into a parking lot. The facilities were well-maintained, especially the new saltwater pool. Staff was friendly and helpful, they've created a nice campground that, even on a holiday weekend when most sites were full, was peaceful and had a family atmosphere. We camped at Topeka / Capital City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Explore the nature trail that winds uphill from the fishing ponds, plenty of birds and wildflowers there. The Kamp K9 park was clean and provided running space for our two dogs. Don't miss driving the short distance to the Kansas State Capitol building, absolutely beautiful.

Adequate but not great. Our long pull-through was plenty big but very close to the busy interstate highway, lots of noise. The man who checked us in was nice and very helpful. Ask about the best way to get back to the interstate, he gave us directions for a route much better than the one our GPS brought us in on. OK for overnight but I have been in better KOAs lately. We stayed here two days during a period of foul weather, severe storms nearby, high winds and rain all day. This KOA has a big red barn with a basement severe storm shelter which is why we picked it. There is a row of permanent residents but those campers are well kept and seemed to consist of young families with school age children. It felt very park like and safe. The office is only open 3:00 to 8:00 pm but the fellow was there was nice and helpful. WIFI was excellent although it would stop and restart every couple of hours. Campground layout was pleasing and well thought out. There was no mud in spite of all the rain we had due to nice grass and gravel/sand on our sites. There is a very nice children's park and fishing ponds. Our site was fine but a bit short. It is set in a place between two interstates so there was some traffic noise but not too bad. A nicer than average KOA. We will stop again, especially if we need a place to sit out storms. We camped at Topeka / Capital City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This was a nice KOA. We rolled in late but were treated warmly in the office. Got a nice pull through sight. Gravel but level. Park has wide drive lanes and easy in and out. Lovely KOA. Very spacious campground with beautifully maintained grounds. 3 fishing ponds, really nice walking trail through the woods and along a creek. Barn/office building is super nice, with tables and chairs and game areas, as well as a cozy living room area with comfy furniture, tv, and book exchange. Separate exercise room. The actual campsites are pretty nice. We were in a deluxe site with patio and swing and it was super nice, but not necessarily worth the extra cost. Especially with gravel site pad that wasn't level. Friendly staff. Road noise during the day, quiet at night. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Really nice place. Verizon signal good. We camped at Topeka / Capital City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

My girlfriend and I both live in Topeka and this KOA is a day escape for us. VERY VERY well kept, clean. Personnel there are awesome and outgoing. The new pool is a salt water pool, which again is very well maintained, nice landscaping around the pool area, and a steel pavilion with picnic tables to get out of the sun and smoke. One caution is that the steps getting into the pool are very slippery, they just need gripper strips installed to solve that. Highly recommend staying there.
