Overall Rating:

First Impression: Huge reservoir. Multiple CGs in the park. Very quiet, almost empty (early May). Prices vary based on site type chosen; no discounts. Pretty. Safety: no concerns - peaceful. Access: We came in on Kansas route 14 (good condition), south from Nebraska route 8 (marginal condition) as access to US-36 was closed in Belleville due to construction. Then, east on North Shore Road to 250 Road then south into the park. North Shore Road needs resurfacing. Okay signage, GPS got us in. Office: Open sporadically. Stop at the "self pay" kiosk, first on the left as you turn onto 250 Road to see a map of the CGs. Facilities: No CG amenities. No laundry room. Very aged, dirty restrooms/showers (score "D"). No propane sales. Nice, large playground. No designated dog run. Nine hole, disc golf course. Campground: Not in a flood plain. Park roads are rough, bumpy asphalt with gentle turns and no overhead obstacles. Individual CG roads (i.e. Walleye Loop) are dirt but watch for low hanging branches and tight turns around trees. Big rigs use caution in the Walleye Point loop. Sites are all spacious, pull-through. Numerous tent areas but no yurts. Some cabins and park models. Most sites are dirt/gravel (a few are concrete), no landscaping, level. Electric and water are at mid-rig with either 30A or 30A/50A; no meters. No sewer; use dump stations. Good water pressure and taste. A few sites have nice concrete patios with very aged picnic tables. Ground fires not permitted but most sites have a BBQ/fire ring. Marginal satellite views (mature trees). No cable or OTA TV. Free Wi-Fi advertised at office but none found. Verizon phone had no coverage; No 4G but "1X" basic access was available but sketchy. No railroad, aircraft, or traffic noise. No recycle bins. Bug Report: No insect issues. Runners: Roads ok for running. Yoga: good space and ground surface for your mat. Conclusion: not a bad place for a getaway - recommended. We camped at Lovewell Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We're here to visit Lebanon, KS which is where you'll find the "geographic center of the USA". Closest town is Superior, NE. One Mexican restaurant. DQ fast food. Landromat. No Wal-Mart. Groceries at Ideal Market. Diesel at $2.499. Bank. No RV stores.

What a find! Though the lake was 10 feet below level, it was beautiful. Great Blue Herons and Pelicans were all over the lake. The sites to get are in Willow South Utility Campground. These are pull through with full hookups and 50A electric. We camped in site #3, but sites 4, 5, and 6 have superb lake views. Verizon phone and data were marginal, but we could get 4G LTE in the morning and night. We camped at Lovewell Lake in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Lovewell Lake is a 3,000 acre lake in Northern, central Kansas. The camp site is a state recreation area. New restrooms and showers are being built to replace older ones. Most sites are first come, first served but a few are reservable. Good shade in two areas, but one newer area does not yet have much shade. Many sites do not have water. We stayed 2 nights and was pleased with the site. Boating and fishing is very popular at the camp. A marina and small restaurant is available. No other area attractions of major consequence. We camped at Lovewell Lake in a Tent Trailer.
