This KOA is a few miles off the Kansas Turnpike. It's designated as a Holiday, but not sure how it's rated as such. We saw some very nice sites for motor homes, but all the others were as expected. They also had several cabins. There is a Walmart about a half a mile away. There is an awful lot of noise which we couldn't quite figure out where it was coming from--construction/grain plant. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Truck Camper.

Overall Rating:

The campground was easy enough to access, no major tight turns to be aware of. Site 22 was long enough for our 42' motorhome with tow vehicle. The only downside was the tree to our left that completely blocked satellite signal. They do have 24 cable channels. We did not check the OTA signal. Our site had a picnic table and fire ring. The picnic table looked fairly new and in good condition. The interior roads are all gravel and sites are gravel. There are 3 Deluxe sites that are paved with patios. They have a decent sized dog park, but the grass needed to be mowed. In fact the grass needed mowing in the whole park. There was a bench in the dog park, but absolutely no shade in the late afternoon. The most disappointing thing was that all of the trash cans were overflowing with trash. And there were bags of trash at some sites that were left from the previous guest. Overall it is ok for an overnight stop. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a fine spot for overnight. Utilities work, moderate cellphone reception for tethering (both Verizon & AT&T). Park is cramped, tight turns. It is about 1-1/2 miles from the interstate so no highway noise, BUT. There is a rail yard nearby and for about an hour beginning at 3 AM there was the constant bang, bang, bang of trains being "assembled". Impossible to sleep through it. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

Only here for one night while traveling through. Site was level with a gravel surface. Hook-ups conveniently located and worked fine. Several cable stations with clear view of southern sky for satellite. We didn't try over the air. Easy off Kansas Turnpike, about 1 mile away to the west of Exit 19. We would return. 3 bars of 4G on Verizon. Park WiFi was good albeit a little slow during the afternoon with not many in the park. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

Wellington, Kansas KOA was very well maintained and the hosts were a young couple - very nice. We had reservations but were unable to be there the first night, due to my husband being very ill. I tried calling and emailing to cancel one night of our reservation, but I never could make contact. At check-in I told them and they acknowledged their phone and wi-fi service had been out. Even though they did not have to, they did not charge us for that night. We were very appreciative. Our stay was pleasant and we would be happy to stay at this park again. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

This was a Holiday weekend, grass was partially cut and no weed eating. Pool was not open. Gravel pads with weeds growing. Weed killer would have been a plus. I am a good Sam member and the discount not offered. Note: 44' Coach with toad, plenty of room. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

Very nice little KOA. Level sites, gravel, but not the messy kind. Easy to get in and out. Full hookups, including cable. WiFi works! Cell phone reception good. Friendly. Propane available, but you have to get it coming in, or else go back out onto the highway and find a place to turn around and come in again. Pet friendly. Cabins here look very nice. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

Great location but like most KOAs very overpriced. Very friendly checkin, laundry room very clean. Occasional train at night in distance. Nice setup and they've added some cute patio sites with attractive outdoor table chairs and fire pit. Catch and release pond, above ground pool, fenced dog park. Would for sure stay again on the way back south. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

We actually just discovered this KOA last year and we have stayed three times now. Wichita was always our jumping off location from Kansas City but we are so glad to have found Wellington. This is a great KOA and a great little town. Campground is a nice distance from the highway so it is very peaceful and quiet. We have nothing but good things to say about all of our stays here. I'm sure we will be back! We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Basically a mostly flat, mostly open field with trees around the periphery and scattered trees within the campground. A small pond divides the campground in half. Gravel access roads - the main one is about a lane and a half while the interior ones are single lane. Mostly level gravel sites (most pull thru, some backin) along with 3 "premium" sites that are concrete. Sites have picnic tables and fire rings. Decent drainage in the south half with some standing water in the north half two days after a heavy rain. Noise is a problem at this campground as the BNSF transcon is about 1000 ft east of the campground and their yard is about 2000 ft south of the campground with at least 20-30 trains every day around the clock. The result is a fairly persistent low frequency rumble punctuated by occasional train whistles and coupling noise audible even with windows closed. Power ok, water a bit low (50psi static, 35 psi flowing), sewer ok, cable ok (analog). Satellite access is site dependent. Campground wifi signal ok with adequate to sluggish speed; Verizon 2-3 bars with good speed; TMobile 1-2 bars with sluggish speed. No recycling on site, but the town of Wellington has single stream recycling at the old firehouse on Jefferson street (Sat am and Wed pm only). Possible road bike riding out on the shoulders of the highway. This would have been an 8 except for the noise. We would probably stay here again, but only for an overnight. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very nice, clean, convenient campground, but far enough away from I-35 so that road noise was not an issue. However, we noticed a much louder train noise than on our previous stay (especially the coupling and uncoupling that was surprisingly jarring). Perhaps wind direction was a factor. If you or your pets are sensitive to train noise, perhaps you should find another campground. Wellington KOA was an overnight stop. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

There are some newer "deluxe" sites in the back that are incredibly long cement pull throughs with patios (VERY nice).

I'm going to rate it a 4 as we did not get a chance to fully explore. We arrived at dark and left early and were unable to take advantage of the aminities. However, the staff was knowledgeable and helpful; the grounds were very clean with a lot of landscaping and obvious care; the spot we had was just right; the AC power was clean and good voltage; water pressure was excellent. I would definitely stay there again. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

The RV park was nothing to write home about, rather usual in features and enjoyable parts of the park but the effective help I received from the agent in charge at a rather late time in the day was really what allows me to value this park as highly -- customer service. She helped me retrieve some extra storm debris from the roof of our RV using a ladder stored at her rig in the park. This service was beyond the normal expected help. The park had some premium sites so others paid higher prices. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA appears to be almost entirely used by overnighters. We stayed for a few nights in the middle of a 4-day drive to rest and resupply. The campground has a slightly old/worn feel, but not necessarily in a bad way. The area is wooded and attractive, and is only a mile from the interstate. While there's limited highway noise, there is some train noise in the distance, but it's not too bad. The gravel sites were average size for a KOA, but with a nice grass lawn, picnic table and fire pit. The fenced dog park, also average size, was handy, and we found a short grassy "trail" behind the park to walk on leash. The free WiFi was too slow to be usable, even when the park was mostly empty during the day. AT&T only had 1 bar of 4G and was very slow even with our booster. Verizon had 5 bars and was pretty fast. Staff was friendly and helpful at finding us a different site when we found that the one we were originally assigned had low branches that we knew our motorhome would be too tall for. We'd return here for another overnight or two in the future. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.
