We enjoyed camping at this park immensely and even added a night. We used the park as our base to visit Mammoth cave. Be aware it is about a 45 minute drive to the Cave. The weather and our campsite were so nice we felt pulled to maximize our time there so all of the long driving on windy roads (through what is very pretty country side) made it worth it. The campsites are setup nicely - large, gravel and mostly level sites will accommodate some pretty large RVs. A nice fire pit placed away from the camper, electric and water in the right spots. The dump station is pretty good, except it was obvious we were tipped the wrong way when pulling in. It did work just fine in the end, though. Bath building nice but a fair distance from some of the sites. Three showers in each and laundry on the opposite side. The primitive sites are in a different area near the swim beach. Very nice area for tenters with a few up on a hill overlooking the lake. Some tenters did use the RV sites as well. Of the lake sites, ours did not really have a lake view (29). Some did, plus a few in the middle ring seemed to also snag a lake view because of placement. On the long stretch entering campground, site 2 is the bed for it's nice placement among the pines. The campground office is not always staffed but they are very easygoing and friendly, so proceeding to your site and getting a car tag later is just fine. Wood is $5 a bundle but we also found in on the road leading in for $3. The roads to drive in are newly surfaced but really no shoulder, winding, long and more slow going than you'd like. Which is why the not very long drive to mammoth takes 45 minutes. If you do want to deal with all the that, Cave Country Campground in Cave City would work. From our perspective, the park is not what we'd say is easily accesible. Dodging trucks loaded 2 wide with round bales over the middle line, no shoulder with a large travel trailer = white knuckles. We camped at Nolin Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

If new to area, check the roads before heading in. Site 2 shady and those around loop offer some nice shade (17-32). The actual RV sites themselves are all the same (nice) - large gravel area with table and fire pit.

Our third year visiting Nolin Lake SP; it has become an annual trip for us because of the draw of the serenity of the lakefront sites. This is a small park, with nicely kept grounds, in an out-of-the-way location. We like the fact that the park has restricted the boat parking to the parking lot, rather than them being scattered all along the roadways. I understand that's not as convenient for those with boats (I guess...), but it sure improves the character of the park. There is NO AT&T mobile signal at site 21; Verizon does work. OTA TV will get a few channels at night, with our new TT having a signal booster (the previous unit received nothing). Webb's Grocery is 3 miles away for necessities. Camp office sells ice and firewood (and laundry soap...of all things...they don't have any W/D... weird). There is a boat rental facility called Moutardier Marina (prunounced Moody Deer ;-) on the other side of the lake that is very affordable for pontoon rental and is about a 20/25 minute drive from the campground. There are also a handful of little country diners on that route. For the quality of the site, with waterfront view and access, with W/E hookup for under $30/night, clean facilities and nice folks, we think Nolin Lake is hard to beat. We camped at Nolin Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Travel tip: if you're coming from the north, go west on the WK Pkwy out of E'town, to Litchfield, then south on SR259. Using the suggested GPS route from the Mumfordville or Upton areas (from the east, off I65) will result in a drive with lots of hilly corners and shoulder-less county roads. Trust me on this one.

Mammoth Cave is about a 20 mile drive, many folks come to Nolin Lake SP to visit the cave.

We pulled into Nolin Lake state park expecting great things. Mostly, we got them. The site was only gravel, with a lot of prickers around it, making it difficult to walk around with camp shoes (Crocs or sandals). The site was nice and long though, with plenty of space for our 35ft fifth wheel, and even enough space to pull our 20ft truck in at the front, which is a rarity among most campgrounds. There was no campground Wi-Fi plus weak cell service, and, me, being very attached to my technology, was disappointed. Do not let that affect your idea on this park... that was just me. Went to campground showers for most nights in fear of our gray tank filling up (no sewer hookup) the bathhouses and bathrooms were VERY well-kept, and we enjoyed long, hot showers with flawless temperature control. AMAZING PARK WILL RETURN. We camped at Nolin Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This turned out to be a great time of year to visit. The price reflects a "By One Get One" discount. The lake was beautiful even though it was not yet at summer pool, plus the trees were not leafed out yet so we had a nice view of the water and rock formations. This must be on a flyway, we woke up to so many different bird songs every morning. The sites are spacious and our site was level. Our fire pit was full of ashes but someone came out right away to empty it for us. Also, the trail head is very close by, nice hiking. Only (minor) drawback is that we had no AT&T service, which is to be expected. You can get service about 3 miles up the road. We camped at Nolin Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here and visited Mammoth Cave and towns nearby on Hwys 65 and 31. The drive to Mammoth Cave was about 20 miles. There is not a Walmart close. The grocery stores in Brownsville will have everything needed. They will not be open very late though. Nice place to stay for a visit to the Lake or Cave. A long way from I 65 for a one night stop over. Site 5 was easy in for our MH. Could not lock on Dish 119 due to trees. We camped at Nolin Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Site 19, level, a little grass, gravel, good spacing

Bathroom and showers nice, clean (lazy slobs are the ones that ruin them)

Great spot right by the water's edge. Nice park overall. Looks like a great lake. We camped at Nolin Lake State Park in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

We arrived late afternoon, went to Mammoth Cave the next day, which was okay, stayed the night (so 2 nights total). The lake looked like you could really have a good time, especially with a boat. We like water side (or at least views). This site had it's own little "beach" and would be perfect for little ones to play in (however you aren't suppose to get in the water except at the beach).

The park was clean and well kept. Sites are large and level. Plenty of room between the sites. There are no pull thru sites but we have plenty of room to back in. No local stations were available through Direct TV. The host was friendly but not overly helpful. We would definitely stay here again! We camped at Nolin Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Mammoth Cave, KY - Nolin Lake State Park - Great state park! Sites are very large with a good amount of spacing between them. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring and the driveway and patio are made of the fine gravel. Some sites have view/access to lake for fishing. Site are W/E only with dump station. Have bath house looked nice but did not use. Have basketball and volleyball and several places to fish. Outside the rv part of campground is a beach and primitive/picnicking area as well as a boat ramp. Verizon signal was decent better than expecting. Roads getting to park are your regular roads to a lake so no surprise and in good shape. Have a very small selection of items at registration office and sell firewood and ice. We camped at Nolin Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

I hesitate to write a stellar review for this campground, as it might mean that more people will go there. ;-) There are only 32 sites, all with water and electric. It's a newer park (in comparison to most state parks), and the sites are so large and nice; finely crushed limestone bordered by buried landscape timbers are the base for each site. Most of them were actually excavated, and the extra dirt was used to create small mounds between some of the sites. We had THE premium site in the property, all of about 15 steps to a little, stone 'beach' area from our site, lot #21, which is huge. Every site is level, and each has a picnic table, lantern post and fire ring with cooking grate. Good and bad news- there is no OTA television, and ZERO cell signal on AT&T. Driving to the entrance to the campground you can get a slight signal. The state's web site says there is a small camp store on the property, but we were told no, that is incorrect. There is a pretty good little country store about 3 miles away that has groceries, hardware, bait, ice, gas, etc. (it's surprisingly large and well-stocked). Camp office sells firewood. Shower is the cleanest, nicest we've seen. Campground has an overnight mooring area for boats, and a public beach that you can walk to. It's a small, clean, quiet campground, on a beautiful lake. We rented a pontoon boat at the closest marina, which is a 30 minute drive (only 10 minutes from the campground across the lake, though). No fee to enter the park, as we're accustomed to in Indiana. The drive to get there is the worst part, as state roads in Kentucky are little more than most county roads in other areas. It's 45 minutes off the interstate on rolling, winding roads, but for us, it was worth the drive. We'll go back as soon as we can, but the lakefront sites are booked for months...! We camped at Nolin Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This was our first ever camping adventure. Could not have picked a better park to begin with. Very roomy, lots of space between sites, and well kept. Very nice playground for kids, beautiful lake. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only negative and really not a problem with me was Wi-Fi and cell service was nonexistent. Would have given a 10 if not for that. I would definitely camp here again. Wow! What a beautiful state park! We stayed here for two nights while visiting Mammoth Caves. The sites are huge and spaced well apart. The outside sites on the loop all border Nolin Lake, but the inside sites have great lake views as well. All the sites on the main drive back up to woods. The roads are plenty wide and most sites are accessible even to big rigs (no pull-throughs though). The bathhouse/bathrooms/laundry was very clean and modern. There is a nice playground and volleyball court in the campground and a beach just a short distance away. If you look at Nolin Lake SP on Google Earth you’ll see many sites underwater. They had severe flooding in 2010 (when the picture was taken) that required a lot of rebuilding, so most everything is fairly new. The sites include a nice metal picnic table, fire ring, lantern hook, and our site even had a cable bolted to the table to tie a pet. The roads are all paved and the sites are crushed limestone. We talked with the camp hostess a good bit and she’s a real sweetheart that has been there a number of years. Note when driving in that you will see a sign that says “roadway ends 2500 ft”. The road ends at the state park, so don’t let it worry you. Also, the shortest route to Mammoth Caves from here requires you to take a (free) ferry across the Green River. The ferry will not accommodate an RV. We stayed here in a 37’ fifth wheel and would love to stay again. We camped at Nolin Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park if you want to just get away. A lot of space between sites and almost all have shade trees. Pretty location with about half the sites right on the lake. The only "entertainment" is the lake but that was fine with us. Only one bath house and it is a good walk from some sites. Again, fine with us since we have a toilet in the trailer but could be a hassle for tent campers with kids. We camped at Nolin Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Exceptional state park with large clean sites and good separation from adjoining campers. Camp is a little distant from any groceries but not too remote. Lake front lots are actually a short walk down a short path (10-15 steps) but most are very convenient for bank fishing. We found a rope swing at site 27 and quite a few arrow heads at the bank of site 19/21. If you want proximity to water, try the sites 19 through 29 (odd) and 30/31. There is a small swimming area and good trails to ride bikes with the kids. Short runs for most electric and water lines 25 feet or less. Great park! We camped at Nolin Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful park, sites are very large. It's quiet and serene. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 was because the showers were not well kept, and there was no hot water. This would not stop us from staying here again. It was an easy drive to Mammoth Caves from here. The only downside, if you can call it that, there was no nearby stores or cell phone coverage. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, Nolin State Park is the place to be! We camped at Nolin Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.
