This campground spoiled us! The sites are huge and so private. Not a bad site on the grounds! Just beautiful and peaceful! We stayed in B10 and it was exceptional. We reserved our site online a month ahead or so. Much of the campground is non-reservable and there was plenty of open sites throughout the weekend. Our site was next to the bathroom (no shower in this bathroom, but showers were a bit further down). Despite being next to the bathrooms, our site was so tucked away and wooded we never noticed anyone walking by. Plenty of hiking trails and a few lead to the lake. The lake is so clear, you can wade or swim at your own risk, it's not restricted unless you go down to the marina. The marina is busy! Lots of boating going on. There also a little place to get some pizza and burgers at the marina, nothing stellar, but something if you need it. A 10-15 minute drive towards Holly Bay (follow Holly Bay signs) to the public beach. We loved it since the water was super clear and nice. Good idea to bring an umbrella or some kind of shade & lots of inflatable stuff. The beach is on top of the spillway, and there's likely more beach accesses closer to the Holly Bay Area that we didn't have time to explore. The lake is nice, you can safely explore the swimming areas outside the tiny designated swim area. There are dangers if the water is high, but there are plenty of giant signs to warn you of those if the conditions arise. It was hard to imagine in August the water being high enough, but there was plenty of evidence of the water, likely when the dam is intentionally released. We had only positive interactions with the camp hosts who delivered firewood & ice as needed. Will be back soon! We camped at Grove Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Bring extra lighting, like tiki torches if you want. It's very dark at night which we loved, but we'll bring more lighting next time. It would be hard to park after dark for sure.

We love the campground we have been coming here for 12 years, Four or five times a year. We never had one problem till this year the camp host came by about every hour and would inspect our campsite. Just to make sure we were following the rules. We could not take the Nazi camp any longer. And came home after the first night. Camp at your own risk! We camped at Grove Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here for a couple of nights as we were passing through the area. Very nice campground with a mix of sites and rates (FHU, WE only, double sites). We had water and electric in a nice back in site (A19). Loops B and C were closed since they were winding down for the season. Verizon was fair, but only 4 OTA tv channels none of which were interesting. Nice private site with fire ring/grill and picnic table. We walked through Loop B even though it was closed and site B4 was very nice with plenty of room. Sites were paved with asphalt and general area was well kept. We would stay here again. We camped at Grove Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Our site, B4, was a beautifully wooded, two tiered, nice sized site. A couple little staircases lead down to our fire pit and picnic table area. Loved this site!

The camp hosts were very friendly and very accessible. We got there after dark and one of the hosts helped us back in- it was extremely dark! He even drives around in the evening with firewood for sale! They told us about a public beach up the road, but we took a trail to the boat-in sites and swam in that area. The lake was so scenic!

The bath houses and shower house were clean and decorated with little summery signs and flowers. Only bad thing was the showers are push button and you can't control the temperature.

Don't arrive after dark- it's EXTREMELY dark in the campground.

We don't have a boat, but there's a lot of boating happening on the lake. It isn't a nuisance to the campground, but this would be a nice place to stay if you're boating.

We were in the area to check out Cumberland Falls. I'm glad I chose this place.

It's a gem in the Daniel Boone National Forest. We camped at Grove Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We came in on a Sunday afternoon. No attendant at station, but a note to check in with host. We stopped by host campsite, but no luck. Our campsite was easy to find and to back in to. Plenty of space for the camper and vehicle to park at in our campsite. Host showed up short while later with our check-in paperwork and was expecting us. She was a very friendly and helpful host to us.

Sites were decently apart from one another and plenty of space in each area. The restrooms were older, but clean and well maintained. Sites were level with concrete or gravel and the water/electrical were within easy reach. There is 1 dump station.

Campground was quiet and plenty of woods around us. Plenty of trails around the campground to explore and wildlife was active here. Overall, I will stay here again. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. We camped at Grove Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Wonderful USFS campground. Nice, roomy sites with 30 amp power. Lantern poles near tables and tent pads. Camped here while visiting Cumberland Gap area, though discovered other campgrounds closer. Hosts were positive and helpful. We camped at Grove Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful campground. I note that some people complained "there is nothing to do." Well, if you're like us, then that's what you're looking for! National Forest campgrounds are NOT highly developed campgrounds w/lots of activities. Sites are large and wooded. However, there were a couple of issues: Several people let their dogs go unrestrained and the campground hosts even stopped to chat with the campers and never did or said anything about it. We have 2 dogs - we love dogs, but we keep ours safe & restrained. Second, there were two groups of multi-site campers above & below us, and they got pretty loud. I think that's just something to keep in mind for this campground, where lots of locals come for boating. But again, the hosts seemed oblivious to the noise. Would like to give everything 5 stars, but couldn't do that, mainly because of the dog problem. Finally, we would prefer a site that is not multi-tiered and if we were to return would make sure we pay attention to that feature. Watch out for ticks! We camped at Grove Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Beautiful paved sites with large patios, surrounded by gorgeous forest. Good water and power. Our site (B2) was level and easy to get into with our small RV. Most of park is for tents, with only a limited number for RVs. Toilets were located conveniently but didn't seem to be serviced regularly. Some were dirty and out of toilet paper. There is only one shower building for the entire park and the showers were dirty and some needed repair -- missing benches, spider webs, dead bugs. Camp host was pleasant and helpful. The roads are rather narrow and twisty, so I would hesitate to try to get in with a big rig. Cost reflects senior discount. We camped at Grove Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This campground has the nicest, largest and most private campsites of any campgrounds we have ever visited. We stayed in B08 and absolutely loved the site. The campground was very clean and well maintained. The campground hosts were very friendly and helpful. The only reasons why I can't give this campground a "10" are because there are no sewer hook-ups and there is no pool or playground area. If it had these amenities, it would be an easy 10. Also, although there is probably nothing that the campground itself can help, be warned that ticks and gnats were pretty bad the days we were there. Regardless of the these few things, we would definitely stay at this campground again when visiting this area. We camped at Grove Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very nicely maintained, friendly hosts, level campsites. We had site B2, a reservable site, it was perfect for our 45' MH and toad. 25W is narrow with no shoulder. Turn into CG was tight with toad but we made it okay. B loop had no shower facility, just toilets. No Satellite reception on B2. AT&T service decent. Only received 3 TV channels with antenna. This is probably one of the best campgrounds we have been to. We stayed in B-7 which was fantastic. We absolutely love the two tiered sites where the fire is away from the camper. Even though its only 35 feet or so. The picnic tables are heavy duty wood and extremely nice. The lake access is maybe a three minute drive where Grove marina is. We rented a pontoon boat for the day and they were extremely friendly. Not sure what the reviewer below was expecting from a park in a national forest but camping in the woods is a benefit of this park. The sites are huge. Our 36' TT fit just fine. It gorgeous and we will return every chance we get. The only negative I can possibly post is that the reserved sites are not available after labor day which makes no sense. We camped at Grove Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Wonderful USDA park operated by American Land Management. Park hosts very pleasant, attentive, and readily available. Beware of reservation fee as even though this is USDA Federal Facility, commercial contractor has 'bite.' With senior golden age pass, we got $16 discount rate. 30amp service with water. Back-in site in Loop A was wonderful. Most sites have multi-tiered level (MH on one level, picnic/fire pit, etc on lower level). Great privacy and wonderful forest. Sadly, there was not any HOT water; minimal WARM water as attested to by the yelling of little kids trying to take showers. Facilities were clean; but, we did not use them as we prefer our hot water. Unique feature of this CG is 'double sites' for fun with friends. Great CG - definitely return as we stayed 2 days. We camped at Grove Campground in a Motorhome.

Really enjoyed this campground. One of the nicest sites we've stayed in, although without a sewer hook up. There was a beach for swimming, a marina, and hiking trails. The campground hosts were very nice. Also, the site we stayed in was one of the easier back-ins we've done, as it was positioned at an angle to the road. Also, the site had a very unique tiered structure. There was our parking pad and then there was a set of steps leading down to our picnic area in the woods: really nice. Would stay here again! We read all reviews and checked all we could find on this park, sounded good. Paid for 8 days in advance site unseen. WE got here and immediately tried to find a better site, no luck. Said it was on lake, it's not even near, only if you look though some of the trees, can you see water. The only trail goes nowhere, cannot get to lake! Only way to get to the lake was at the commercial boat dock (very unfriendly). Our site is in the reserve area. The pad is right at the road in untrimmed weeds with no view of anything. The table was 40 feet away on big rock with a 20 foot drop-off at the edge into trees. Nothing to do here, would have been better in my driveway. We gave up our money spent after 2 days and moved out. Checked out Holly Cove a few miles away: much better. We camped at Grove Campground in a Travel Trailer.
