Very nice reception upon arrival...an older campground. No escort, but found the site on our own. Don't be discouraged getting off I-64 and driving about 5 miles to the campground. The campground has quite a few "semi- and permanent residents set up. We got one that had a patio, but the campground sites are a bit close. Had to jockey around to get our 32' 5th wheel into the site #57. Site 57 looked to be one of those semi-permanent sites. Campfire ring across the road, tree and raised patio on our site were the hazards to watch for. Bathrooms were nice, but could use some updating. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Large,well-managed campground, convenient to the Kentucky state capital, museums, factory tours and tastings. Variety of sites, many seasonal and a few permanent residents, lots of activities within the campground and for miles around. Site 91 was a pull-thru, just large enough and we needed levelers on the passenger side. We will stay there again. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We stayed four days but only got to visit half of the attractions we wanted: Frankfort-the capital of Kentucky, Toyota factory tour- Georgetown (make a reservation!), the Henry Clay House, Buffalo Trace Distillery tour, the Rebecca Ruth Candy factory tour & museum, vineyards, horse farms, oh my! We will return!

I thoroughly enjoyed this campground. I was in a back-in site right next to the Elkhorn River which runs through the campground. The site was easy to get into with plenty of space on either side. My site, #10, was long and level. The wifi was strong at my site. The bathhouse has recently been remodeled and it was modern and clean. The dump station was easily accessible. The washers and dryers are only $1 but the laundry area is a little small. The grounds are impeccable and the staff was very friendly and courteous. I stayed a week and I would definitely go back. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

We really like this park, the owner lives on site and is a very gracious host. Our site was large enough for our 40+ feet with our Jeep parked across the front. There was a fire ring, a patio and a table. The site was and most of the sites were level. There are a number of sites along the creek. It was a flowing creek, not a bog. The pool was nice, we got a small number of OTA Channels. My only complaint and for many it would not be, is that there are some fairly bright street lights, one of which illuminated the patio side of our site very nicely and is way too bright. Decided not to bother with a fire basically because of this. Would we stay here again if visiting Frankfort? Yes. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

We spent several nights in this campground on our way to the east coast and because we enjoyed it so much, we spent two nights there on our way back. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the setting is lovely. There were a lot of campers there and I was concerned about the noise level but it was very quiet. The bathrooms are maybe the nicest I've seen. We didn't have full hookups, only electric and water, and the wifi was pretty weak but we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again plus we really enjoyed visiting the distilleries! We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very clean park. Office staff is very efficient and friendly. We came in early, so the site they had reserved for us wasn't available, but they accommodated us in their long term section. We met some really great long termers there. Pool was inviting, and not filled with kids in the evening. Paddling very close by. Grounds are kept well. Laundry was clean and easy to access. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Rates are not shown on this park's website. We were quoted on the phone $37/night, not including a 10% GoodSams discount, for W/50 amp E/Cable pull-through with no mention of the following: When we arrived, we were given the 10% GoodSams discount, but then they added $3 for 50 amp service and a 3% adder for using a credit card. The rate we posted reflects the final total. The center and northern part of the park are long term residents while short term stays are placed along the south and west end (the only pull throughs). Be aware that there are no pull through sites that have sewer. There is also a river that flows along the southern and western end of the park. Watch out for the poo on the walkways left by the many geese that frequent the river and park. Not sure we would stay in this park during a heavy extended rain as the river level just below the park level. Also the park is heavily wooded with some very large trees, all but eliminating satellite service from almost all of the sites, although with a tripod remotly mounted satellite access may be possible from a few of the sites. We did not try the park provided cable TV, but other reviews indicate it is good. Other than this, the park is nice, with a recently built pool and bath house. There is also a nice play area for anyone with kids. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

This park was like being in Coney Island. Wall to wall campers, some full timers and some of their rigs were gross and filthy. When we got there they did not have our spot available. It was taken up by a full timer who wasn't there. They put us in another spot for one night. The next day they towed the full timer, Which they could have done before we got there but didn't and then we moved. Good location to Bourbon Trail. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed at this park for five nights. Sites are mostly back in sites. Most sites have long term residents. The sites around the perimeter seem to be for short term rentals. Ours was fine. RV parking was on concrete and we had a lawn next to us with a wooden deck. Most of the sites seemed to have wooden decks. Many of the best sites along a creek do no have sewer or TV cable. If you can do without these sites are great. There is a new bathhouse which is fantastic. Almost done with a new swimming pool. Great cable TV. Digital with a guide. Great location for touring the Bourbon Trail. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Elkhorn Campground for 2 nights in May 2017 and I cannot praise the campground and the staff (particularly the owner) enough. Our campsite was a back-in site, as I think most are there, that was very long (we have a 30 foot motorhome with a tow car) and this site was more than enough space for us. The site was paved and level. The hook-ups were exactly where they should be and easy to access. The campground itself is very nice, green, clean and pretty, surrounded by trees (but not in the way). We happened to arrive on Derby day and the park was having a Derby viewing party in the pavilion and we were invited upon our arrival. There was an awesome, welcoming and friendly atmosphere and my husband and I really enjoyed watching with many locals and families. But what makes this park even more memorable and the reason that we will return to Elkhorn when we are in the area again is the staff, and particularly the owner. I actually did not know he was the owner until we were leaving. He was always very busy working throughout the park, but never too busy to help people out with whatever they needed. He is kind, funny, and so down to earth, just an all around nice guy! We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is about 5 miles off I-64. It was perfect for an overnight stop. We had a pull-through site with electric and water. The site (#99) was very long...well over 75' in my estimation. Gravel/grass pads that are well maintained. Beautiful, mature trees. We had quite a bit of rain and our site drained very well. Sites 33-39 are back-in sites right on the creek, so lovely sites if your unit isn't too long. The pull-through sites 96-100 didn't appear to have fire rings but the back-in sites did. They have a little later check-out time (1:00) than most campsites which we appreciated. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed two nights. We were booked into a 30 amp spot, but the campground changed us to an available 50 amp. The spot was level, concrete and was long enough to park our tow vehicle in front of the motorhome. There was a deck that was very useful and the staff was very helpful. We will stay here again when we're in the Frankfort area. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

Wifi very good. Cable TV excellent. Beautiful surroundings. My only complaint is the sites are very close together. We have a 40 ft fifth wheel and managed to squeeze in and out. I would recommend this Park to a smaller rv or to large RVs who don't mind 30 amp water electric, as the sites on the stream are fabulous. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
