Their website says they have cable but once here one finds out it is only for a few sites. Also the wifi is weak and spotty we could not access it. Spaces are rather tight - one would not want to spend a long time here. We thought it was rather pricy for what you got. It appears this place is a big family destination. Lots of children riding their bikes around. We spent one night here and did not unhook. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a popular park for families who live relatively close by. We stopped for one night (Saturday) and the park was packed. It may feel less cramped during the week. We didn't use the pool, but it was VERY popular with the families! There was no dedicated dog park and the designated area to walk them isn't very convenient (basically a grassy narrow shoulder on the road leading into the park). The interior roads are tight, making parking and leaving somewhat challenging. That situation is made more difficult by the number of campers who were parking multiple vehicles on their site. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

Beautiful, clean and quiet park along a branch of the Elkhorn river. Very friendly check in. Lots of permanent folks but they are in a different area. We had great connection to our Dish. First trip to Kentucky, we stayed 4 nights and used as a base to do quite a bit of sight seeing to Lexington, Louisville, Perryville and Lawrenceburg (and of course Frankfort). Will definitely go back. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

Our site was a back-in space along the creek with water and electric hookups. Our site was paved, but some are gravel. Very peaceful and serene. The grounds are extremely well maintained and featured a number of mature trees, providing some shade on a number of sites. The second generation owners are friendly and for the creek side sites, they space campers out so you won't have neighbors right next door unless the campground is really busy. For those who camp in tents, there is a really nice area of shaded sites along the creek, yet close enough to the restrooms. The pool looked nice but was a few days from opening as we were there a little before Memorial Day weekend. The restrooms and showers were clean when I checked for the purpose of this review. There is a coin laundry, though it is almost hidden next to the lawnmower shed, and everything there seemed to be in working order. Compared to what you can find in town, the camp store had reasonable prices for firewood and ice, and even sold hand dipped ice cream. There is complimentary wifi here which worked amazingly well considering the campground was about halfway filled and we were some distance from the office. I almost hate to say anything negative about this place, but will say that the majority of the sites with full hookups and cable TV are occupied by seasonal campers. If you need to have all those amenities you may be out of luck here. Maybe that isn't a bad thing as those sites are jammed in pretty tight, many with big rigs, adding to the claustrophobia. Water pressure is rather high, to the point where there was a regulator already on our water spigot. The rinse hose at the dump station lacks a regulator, making for an interesting show when people turn it on for the first time. Only a few over the air TV stations are available here if you have no cable or satellite TV. We will likely stay here again the next time we are in the area. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a family-run cg that is very nice. We will have moved 4 times by the end of our Frankfort stay but we love this place. There had been quite a bit of rain so the 1st spot (86A) was muddy and had a tree in the middle of the patio so the awnings could not be extended. The 2nd site (80A) was good but our 45' coach mirrors hung out in the road a tad. The car had to be parked elsewhere. Site 57 was perfect with a fhu, everything fit with room to spare, patio, and nice grassy area for our dog to hang out. We liked it so much here that we extended our stay for 2 nights which resulted in us having to move a 4th time to a riverfront spot without sewer. No big deal and the dog loved it. They keep the grounds nicely groomed, there are new picnice tables, and they power washed the fence this week. Everyone we met was very pleasant and helpful. They really worked to get us into a good site for our 3 1/2 week stay. I would rate this place a 10 if all of the sites were level, asphalted or gravel, and a little longer to all for some stretch room. As I said, we were in a great spot but there were many that were very snug back to front, particularly. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

Good for short stay. Sewer hookups about 5 feet from picnic table. Sites are close, lots of permanents. Now the good: all roads and pads are paved. Location is great for touring the area. All utilities worked fine. Nice friendly people. Would definitely stay if in the area We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a lovely park. It seems older but it is in good shape with strong power and lots of digital cable channels. We were here for a rally and they Parked our group together as well. It is a quiet campground and the river that runs thru it would be nice to back up too. I would stay here again. The only issue is that they need repeaters for their wifi to reach all the sites. Elkhorn is well off the highway surrounded by what appear to be Kentucky horse ranches and a golf course and was very quiet overnight. Reception was friendly and as we were looking for an overnight site and didn't want to unhook, the lady asked for our total length and then consulted her list. They have measured each site and have a binder of photos showing the dimensions of each so that we were able to pick the one that looked best for our needs. A recent heavy rain had filled the creek that runs along the property to capacity and it was running fast only feet behind our site. I checked it on arrival and again before retiring to be sure it wasn't still rising. Despite the heavy rain, the grounds were not soft or muddy. Most of the sewer and cable sites were occupied by seasonal campers, the balance of the sites along the creek were W/E only and there is a dump near the exit. Some of the older trees appear sketchy and a large limb had fallen causing major damage to a trailer. I will return here if we were to come this way again in the future. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Travel Trailer.

I thoroughly enjoyed this campground. I was in a back-in site right next to the Elkhorn River which runs through the campground. The site was easy to get into with plenty of space on either side. My site, #10, was long and level. The wifi was strong at my site. The bathhouse has recently been remodeled and it was modern and clean. The dump station was easily accessible. The washers and dryers are only $1 but the laundry area is a little small. The grounds are impeccable and the staff was very friendly and courteous. I stayed a week and I would definitely go back. Large,well-managed campground, convenient to the Kentucky state capital, museums, factory tours and tastings. Variety of sites, many seasonal and a few permanent residents, lots of activities within the campground and for miles around. Site 91 was a pull-thru, just large enough and we needed levelers on the passenger side. We will stay there again. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice reception upon arrival...an older campground. No escort, but found the site on our own. Don't be discouraged getting off I-64 and driving about 5 miles to the campground. The campground has quite a few "semi- and permanent residents set up. We got one that had a patio, but the campground sites are a bit close. Had to jockey around to get our 32' 5th wheel into the site #57. Site 57 looked to be one of those semi-permanent sites. Campfire ring across the road, tree and raised patio on our site were the hazards to watch for. Bathrooms were nice, but could use some updating. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We spent several nights in this campground on our way to the east coast and because we enjoyed it so much, we spent two nights there on our way back. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the setting is lovely. There were a lot of campers there and I was concerned about the noise level but it was very quiet. The bathrooms are maybe the nicest I've seen. We didn't have full hookups, only electric and water, and the wifi was pretty weak but we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again plus we really enjoyed visiting the distilleries! We really like this park, the owner lives on site and is a very gracious host. Our site was large enough for our 40+ feet with our Jeep parked across the front. There was a fire ring, a patio and a table. The site was and most of the sites were level. There are a number of sites along the creek. It was a flowing creek, not a bog. The pool was nice, we got a small number of OTA Channels. My only complaint and for many it would not be, is that there are some fairly bright street lights, one of which illuminated the patio side of our site very nicely and is way too bright. Decided not to bother with a fire basically because of this. Would we stay here again if visiting Frankfort? Yes. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop" style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower. Plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection, and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site. So our critique is focused in that area.

We did get close to the restroom/shower building: across the roadway from our site#12. The building was newly built with modern fixtures. Restrooms and showers are all in same large room separated by stalls with communal sink area in the open. Showers are full tiled floors and walls, with ample hooks and adjacent changing area with portable stool, in a private stall. Missing is a rubber floor mat as you exit the shower that would keep your feet off the wet floor. At the communal sink area, missing are convenience items like paper towels that could be used to help clean up after use. Very messy and also need hooks between the mirrors for your hand towels and small shelves for your toiletries stuff.

Over all the camp was well groomed and tidy, with all level sites, a sparkling swimming pool, mini golf, kid's playground etc. Our site was a W&E only but the camp had a nice dump station adjacent to the restroom/shower building. The roadways are paved as are some sites, while others were gravel and grass mixed. There is some grass covered greenspace between sites, not as tight or crowded as a KOA for example, but still narrow. Some sites like ours, were in the hot sun with no tress for shade, while others had ample shade. It rained heavy during our stay for about 2 hours and our site had poor drainage leaving muddy pools of standing water although the sun helped to dry it up somewhat. This was an overnight stay camp for us. For others it might a destination because of activities and the fishing in the river that backs the camp. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very clean park. Office staff is very efficient and friendly. We came in early, so the site they had reserved for us wasn't available, but they accommodated us in their long term section.
