The rate reflects a 50% Federal Senior Pass discount. Our experience at this campground was not as positive as that of prior reviewers. Never having visited the area before, we were not fully aware that this campground is quite a ways away from most of the Land Between the Lakes activities, nor had we fully appreciated how narrow, winding, and hilly the roads would be. Depending on your direction of approach to the campground you will be driving on more than 10 miles of very narrow roads with many 35 mph curves. It also means about a 30 to 40 minute drive to get to the main road in LBL. The campground does have a pretty setting, but it was very busy on the weekends during our visit. You will need reservations, which we had. However, by the time we made our reservations, the prime sites were taken, so we settled for site 2, near the entrance. It turned out to be very, very close to sites 1 and 3, and on the weekend these sites were both occupied. Site 1 fire ring was about 8 feet from our rig! The folks in sites 1 and 3 were friends, so were continually walking across our site. Most of the campers seem to be locals that also bring out their golf cart and, someway, circumvent the two week stay limit. One gentleman was happy to share his music with the entire campground. Since our site had no trees, we were able to get satellite for DirecTV and, Verizon signal was very strong for voice and data. The sites are gravel and most seemed to be fairly level. Our site was muddy during our visit. This COE site is not nearly as nice as other COE campgrounds where we have stayed. Your experience may vary, particularly if you visit during the week and are able to snag a premium site. We would not return to this campground if visiting the area again. We camped at Hurricane Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Typical COE campground, however these sites were a little tighter than usual. CG is well maintained, with a clean bath house (one for the whole CG). Camped in site 29 - view of the lake, however the lake is very low this time of year, so it was really a view of the mud inlet. Better views are on the side with sites 1-10. However, these sites are really close together. Water pressure good, power good, few local TV stations, satellite OK for most sites. Roads are tight, but not so tight that I wouldn't return, just watch carefully if you are dragging a fifth wheel which cuts the corners more than a pull behind or MH. The rate for this COE park is higher than many for some reason. Can't complain too much with a 50% discount, though. Fire pit, lantern hanger and table at the sites, no stand-up grill. Most sites are level. We camped at Hurricane Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Land-Between-The-Lakes (LBL) is about 30 minutes away. Lots to see there. Stop at the visitor center first and get a list/make your plans. LBL is very spread out and some things to see are farther than 20 minutes apart.

Sites 1, 2, 3 ate extremely close.  Site 1's grill looking right at our utilities. Site 3 very short so their utilities right next to our truck. Easy to level, gravel. Site 4 very sloped, as are several others.   Wide field behind us, lake to the left, beach nearby. You can see the lake through the trees. But quite a bit of litter in the field. Convenient table right next to the grill. Boat ramp very steep. Sites 4 - 17 have a great sunset view but they're tight. 34 to 50 are very woodsy and more widely spaced. We camped at Hurricane Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very pretty park along the shores of Lake Barkley near the land between the lakes NRA. The loop roads and maneuvering to get into many of the sites will test ones driving and backing acumen but is possible and kind of fun in a challenging way. We had to back into site 28 which required a greater than 90d turn into a narrow drive. Lot of large hardwoods and pecan trees. Lot of shade, we were unable to use dish for tv. 7 sticks of hearty pieces of seasoned hardwood for $3 made keeping a fire going for duration of stay feasible and affordable (no pine firewood here!). Campsites include picnic table, fire ring, lantern post, and a camp stove table. Camp hosts super nice. If you are good at maneuvering your rig, this is probably one of the best campgrounds near LBL. We camped at Hurricane Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Great COE park. Roads were a little tight getting into, and coming into the park on 127 from the north was a very tight turn. It is a very shaded park with ample spacing between sites. Water and electric were good. We stayed 5 nights. We camped at Hurricane Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We timed our visit just as Labor Day was ending, otherwise reservations would have to have been done well in advance. A number of sites are nearly lake front (some have tent sites between RV sites and lake. Though you can say that many sites are big rig friendly, the roads to Hurricane Creek are narrow. Nice beach for swimming but bring sandals. Staff helpful despite computer being down. Amazing to look up out over water in distance and see barges being pushed up the Kentucky River. Water pressure is high so use a reducer. Great COE spot and you bet we'd come again. We camped at Hurricane Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

We really enjoyed this campground. Our campsite was right on Lake Barkley. The campground has many shaded sites. There is a boat ramp located in the campground for those who want to bring a boat. The restrooms had white ceramic tile on the floors, but the restrooms were very clean. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring. Some campsites have tent pads. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Hurricane Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.
