Looks like at one time it was a nice park, sadly run down and mostly 'permanent' residents now. Very nice staff, looks like they are doing what they can. We camped at Camp Nelson RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We were here over the Fourth of July weekend so we tried to take that into consideration, but there were some things we couldn't overlook. First of all, the staff was wonderful and couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. They stopped by our site several times. Unfortunately the actual campground itself was in need of some desperate repairs. Across from our site was an old shower house (?) with a port-a-potty in front. The shower house was inoperable so the port-a-potty was the only bathroom for the 30+ people on our end of the camp site. In order to use a sink you had to walk all the way to the entrance. Our first night we were awoken at 11:00 by a chainsaw one of the other campers was using to cut their firewood and our next door neighbors were setting off mortar fireworks that were raining down on our RV. There were cars parked EVERYWHERE and the tent site below us kept driving their truck through our site and parking it next to our chairs. The second night wasn't quite as eventful. The woman next door was walking around without her pants on and they also had visitors so there were at least a dozen people crammed on one site. If you need a place to stay near Nicholasville then this is pretty much the only option, but I would try to stay somewhere else if possible. We camped at Camp Nelson RV Park in a Motorhome.

I hate to be totally negative so, the 50 amp service was good. Wi-Fi was okay, but charged for each day. Hookups on wrong side of RV. Park Very run down. Lots were part grass part large rocks. Lots of old, I mean, Old trailers. We had reserved 5 days, when checking in changed that to 2. After 1 night, we left, they did refund the 2nd day lot rental. Staff was friendly. Would not camp here again We camped at Camp Nelson RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Shady sites along riverbank or across the park along the Palisade wall (Kentucky River Palisades). Friendly staff. Clean park. Attentive personnel. Restrooms were clean & well maintained. Did not attempt showers in camp, though -- not sure how to operate these controls as there are no in-shower handles, etc. There is a large pool with no lifeguard. There is a camp store. The campground is reached via pavement, which descends from and turns around to go back beneath the bridge over the Kentucky River. You can see the campground from the Bridge looking west. It's on the South bank of the Kentucky River. Our site was on the river-bank side, about 30' above the water and on a considerable river ward slope. With the rain in the area, the grass site was soft and muddy, and we had a tough time leveling the camper. There are, however, large flat rocks piled along the riverbank against such needs. Roads in the park are graveled. The park staff patrols several times a day. Next time I'd try to get a site on the Palisade side, as I think those drain/ dry out better. We were grateful for the really big trees, though, as they sheltered our camper from the rain. We camped at Camp Nelson RV Park in a Tent Trailer.
