Overall Rating:

The we site reserved in advance was occupied by a party that refused to move. The staff put us in a different spot that when we stepped out of the MH we would almost end up in the drainage ditch. The park was packed so we were unable to get a different site until the following Monday (we were here for 5 nights). We had to use blocks to get our 38' MH level. The front wheels were off the ground by 4-5 inches. No sewer hookups but there are 4 dump stations. We kept loosing the wifi signal. Be sure you have a pressure regulator for the water as it is very high. No patio and we didn't use our mat because the site was muddy. Traffic through the park was constant. Kids were racing around in golf carts and dogs were allowed to run off leash. Grass hadn't been mowed and was fairly tall. Given the size of the campground, you would think there would be more supervision. Given the number of people using the facilities the restrooms were cleaned early in the mornings but could have used another one in the afternoon. On the positive side, the location was convenient to activities we had planned. The staff tried to accommodate us on our second request to change sites. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice property, especially since this is a large CG that stays busy all year. A and B sections have plenty of shade. Large pool, very clean with lifeguards on duty. Stayed here during an event week when nearly every site was occupied and it didn't feel overcrowded - sites have a comfortable distance between. Open green spaces throughout give this CG a park-like atmosphere. Very pleasant and we return here often. Open all year, although they close off some sections for the winter. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.

The park itself is really nice. This was our second visit. The pool is very clean and my kids had a great time. There are two playgrounds, basketball court, volleyball and tennis court. Great family atmosphere. Bring your bikes. Paved roads and the Legacy Trail is on property. My only complaint is the amount of dogs not on leashes running around. There are several signs stating that dogs need to be on a leash but A LOT of campers ignore the leash law. It causes problems for campers who are walking their dogs on a leash. There were at least 3 dogs running around the playground while kids were trying to play. The park staff should enforce the leash law. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Our second visit. All back in but enough room. Excellent shade at most sites which are above average in size. E&W only but good. Two multi station dump sites (if someone is not taking up extra space and time to hook up their toad). Must have reservations as drop ins are still charged fee. Traffic on the loops is constant, cars, trucks, scooters, golf carts, bicycles, anything with wheels. No "cut through" paths to bath houses so people make their own. In summer it is crowded but is a good park. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Lexington is a city with everything. The Horse Park is great and you can get discount tickets at the camp store. Use major roads to the park. Secondary roads are narrow with no shoulder and a low bridge is possible. A drive through the country is quite nice. Elaborate horse farms are common.

Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful campground with the largest site spaces we've ever had at a campground. However, even though the sites are generously large, the cement pads are extremely narrow and not very long. Unfortunately, this results in people driving off the pad and leaving ruts. When it rains, as it did our second morning, there was a sea of mud on both sides of the camper. After the morning rain, the fire ring was deeply filled with water. There really wasn't enough room for both our camper and tow vehicle, and we only have a 25' travel trailer. Most people seemed to park their cars on the grass or on an angle. We had lots of shade, and it was relatively quiet for the most part. Unfortunately, our site was near an internal road, and for some reason, people towing campers were coming and going all day and into the evening. There are no pull through sites, and no sewer hookups. They will not do a pump out for you, but if you want, they will give you a business card of someone who will come to your site for $35 to do one. They won't deliver wood to your site; you have to get it yourself. A truck emptied the dumpsters at 3:00 in the morning; it was very loud and accompanied by the beeping you hear when a piece of heavy equipment is backing up. On our first morning, we heard a blaring loud speaker repeating something that was mostly unintelligible several times. I called the office and was told that it was a mandatory test announcement. It was equally unclear (and annoying) whether you were inside or outside. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

It is a short walk to the Kentucky Horse Park where you can see people practicing polo. About a mile away, still in the Horse Park, you can see racing champions, visit several museums and monuments, and take a horseback ride.

Overall Rating:

We stayed at this campground, when the Kentucky Horse Park was having an event (Bryerfest). Overall, a really nice stay. The sites can be tough to get into, as most are at a right angle (not sure who designed this)... but it's doable. Interior roads were easy to navigate (we have a 40' fifth wheel). Some of the sites are not level (bring blocks!!); our site (B115) was good. The campground has a nice pool and two nice playgrounds. There is also a basketball court and a tennis court, plus a game room. Kentucky is pretty and this park is no exception. We found two downsides to this property: no sewer and people WILL walk through your site. From what we could tell, there are no interior pathways so if you're in one of the outside loops, you either walk through sites or you have to walk around and get out on the main road for the campground (which is not busy). We had people walk through our site several times and watched others (including kids on bikes) go through other sites. Now, a majority of the people were either there for Bryerfest or participating in one of the other shows they had going on that weekend, so maybe that was the difference? The Kentucky Horse Park itself, is beautiful. When at full capacity, the horse park has over 2,000 stalls. That's a lot of horses! Campground was quiet at night. No cable, but we pulled up 10-15 clear channels on our antenna. At&t service was good. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Very large campsite with plenty of spacing between sites and lots of trees. The paved strip for parking was just wide and long enough for our RV and almost level. However, there was no stone or paving in the patio / table area and the grass was worn away, so it was just dirt. Unfortunately, it rained heavily all the time we were there, so the dirt turned to mud, which meant we stepped out of our RV into a large mud hole. We used our ground cover, but that soon became saturated with mud. At our request, they provided straw that covered the mud and that helped greatly. Over the air TV reception was very good. There was no Wi-Fi signal at our site, and it was fair at the office, but we had to sit outside to use it. Campground was very quiet and a lovely setting with well maintained trees and grass. They provided transportation to the Horse Park, but we soon discovered that it was a nice walk from the campground. The fire ring was mostly rusted away but looked to be still useable. We plan to go back to this campground in the future and hope for better weather. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Kentucky Horse Park is a must-see. Buy tickets at the campground office, as they provide a discount and will take you there and bring you back. The restaurant at the Horse Park was fairly reasonable and the food was good. If you are a biker, there is a bike trail just outside the park that runs from Lexington to Georgetown.

The spaces are very generous and the grounds are treed. Very clean, nice family environment. Pool, basketball, volleyball Pool closes at 7. Internet is spotty even close to source. Online reservation system doesn't work, and when you call to reserve a spot on the same day it can't be done. They offer a free shuttle to the horse park but they really aren't prepared to handle that request. No sewer. No pull through offered. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Don't bother with the shuttle service to the horse park. We waited about 30 minutes for them to show up after they dropped us off there. We used the truck the next time. They just aren't ready to provide this service on demand.

We could not get level front to back in Site B108 in our 45' Bus. There was a parking curb in the back of the site that restricted how far back we could park (even after removing the tow bar). The trees also needed to be cut back. Fortunately, we were able to move to A62. No parking curb and no trees. Pad was still quite sloped for our length, but we were able to hang over the end of the pad enough allowing us to get level. Front, right tire was off the ground 1-2". Also, be cautious of the water pressure. It was 100 PSI at our site. No cable and no sewer. Don't know if we will go back or not. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.

I feel this campground could use some TLC! Pads are too narrow for today's RVs. Laundry facilities are not great, not maintained! Location is a plus. Easy to visit tourist attractions. Did not see many drive thru sites! Felt Park itself needed to be spruced up! We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is very wide open and lots of green grass. The sites are not level but there is lots of space between sites. Quiet and a country feel. We asked for a site with fewer trees so we could easily connect to our satellite. There was no useable WiFi at our site. It is tight to get our 45 foot RV on the site and our car as well. We rate this park as okay. Narrow paved pads just wide enough for the MH. Tight backing in with vehicles parked along the road. Our first site was 13" low in the front. Changed to another site that was 6" low in the rear. Pressure reducer needed for water. Elec. 50 amp was good. No sewer. Not a bad campground just tighter then we like and will look elsewhere in the future. Staff was helpful and friendly. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is a good location for all the attractions around Lexington. The only major weakness of this park is the lack of sewer but with care on water usage, we stayed 6 nights. Good OTA tv as no cable. The cell service at our site was poor. Sprint had one LTE. Other sites might be different. Wifi was poor. We also found the angle of the spaces to be hard to back into as they are not at the correct angle. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Lexington in October is great. There are discounted tickets ($16 instead of $20) to the Kentucky Horse Park and free parking for people that stay in the campground. We went to Keeneland for a horse race which was great and classy. We took the Unique Farm Horse tour which besides showing a horse farm with expensive thoroughbreds, visited a tobacco farm, and the Fasig-Tipton horse auction. Also the Toyota Factory Tour was amazing. (make reservations early for this free tour).
