Been going there for the last ten years to work shows at the fairgrounds. The facilities are always filthy with little or no maintenance. This year was the worst. There was no, repeat no, water anywhere in the RV park at the Kentucky Exposition Center?'s RV park with which to re-fill our fresh water tank in the RV. Not only that, but the shower/restrooms at the RV park were such filthy swill holes that just stepping into them made me think I needed to burn the shoes I was wearing before stepping foot back into our RV. No way would I use the facilities. Therefore we were unable to shower for four days. Only able to wipe down with a damp paper towel to freshen up. We got a tad ripe in those four days. To add insult to injury RV parking at the Expo Center costs $50.00 a night!! To further cause aggravation for RV owners trying to stay there when the Expo Center's crews cleared the RV parking lot of snow they pushed the cold, white stuff into mountains over most all of the RV parking spots. I would add that the pork producers, the fish frying folks and the chicken frying folks, all of whom work in the sheds located in the RV lot, had no water either. This meant that they had no way to wash up after using the filthy restrooms and no way to wash pots and pans or grills they were using. I'd be surprised if none of the food patrons at the Expo Center didn't get deathly ill after eating there this last weekend. We camped at Kentucky Exposition Center in a Motorhome.
Eat somewhere other than the expo center since the sanitary conditions at the food producers on the grounds are less than optimal. I've seen cleaner kitchens in Indonesia, Africa and Mexico.

We camped here for 3 nights for the Kentucky Derby and Oaks. It was nice to be close to the Derby and the Shuttles. It is only a short walk to the shuttles to Churchill Downs. You are in a paved parking lot and spots are very close and you may have to share a sewer. Need to have a sewer line with out a fitting on one end and at least 50 ft long. There are showers and bathrooms. My low rating is due to lack of security keeping the quiet time with people playing loud music. We would not stay here very again for that reason. We parked here during the Fair for $20 with no hookups. There was a great deal of confusion with the staff about being here during the Fair. Normally, there are "shared" hookups in the asphalt parking lot area. This location is over priced for what you get. I've passed by several times to stop at other locations. Campgrounds are limited in Louisville but thanks to RV Reviews we found this location. It's not a campground but a large parking lot with WES. There were no events in town so we were the only rig there. Maneuvering not a problem! The attendant is not on site but if you call, they will send someone to do the paperwork and unlock the electric box. It's a little haphazard but we felt safe and the location can't be beat. It is less than 5 miles to downtown, Churchill Downs and Kroger. It's $50 which may seem steep for the amenities (none) but the location is so convenient it's worth it. While there try Tom and Chee for a cheddar donut (they were on Shark Tank) and Southeast Christian Church. Both will enhance your visit. Again big thanks to this website for providing information not easily available elsewhere. We camped at Kentucky Exposition Center in a Motorhome.Undo

This is a large parking lot that has full hookups. The biggest reason to stay is location. The price is quite high for what you get, except for location. There are hookups throughout the parking lot that are below the ground and covered by round steel covers. The power comes from power boxes located throughout the parking lot. Some on poles on the side. It all works fine. The office folks are very nice and accommodating. We camped at Kentucky Exposition Center in a Motorhome.Undo

This camping area is primarily intended for people attending functions at the Kentucky Exposition Center, but that is not a limiting factor. This is not a recreational campground per say, but a secure place convenient to all of Louisville. There are very few camping facilities near Louisville. There are 50+ full hookup sites in the parking area and room for at least another 70 Primitive (no hookups)sites ($25). All sites are on pavement, close to level and secure. Shower/restroom facilities are excellent. Again, this is not a destination, but a great site to stay for the purpose of being near the Expo or downtown Louisville. I have stayed here many times. Reservations can be made through the Admission Office of the KEC at 502-367-5384. Entrance is through Gate 3 on Crittenden Drive and sites are in Lot L. The cost is worth the Location. Location.
