When making reservations, we were told that we would be getting a longer site to accommodate our 42' fifth wheel. Upon arrival at 6pm, we found that it was first come first served, and we found no sites left long enough. After parking and calling the manager, we were able to get parked on a site. This campground is sad. Buildings are practically falling down, and everything is in dire need of repair. Most sites are crowded and unlevel. You can tell that maintenance hasn't been done in decades. There are quite a few permanent campers here. We will not be back. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf in a Fifth Wheel.

Some of the sites are not level. Some sites have cement pads and others have gravel. Great water pressure in the showers. This is a large campsite and plenty of room for our dogs to play. I'd visit this campground again. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground gives a written page on where most places are like Walmart and places to eat and many more.

Mammoth Caves is 7 miles away. There are many choices to make as to which part of the cavern you want to see. We were able to use our senior National park pass and got 50% off. Go early or the wait can be a long time and some times will be already taken. Reservations is not required but may be a good idea if you have a time you like better than others.

We are Thousand Trails members, therefore no charge for 5 day stay. "B" sites quite tight but nice, well maintained campground. Convenient to the many cave attractions. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf in a Motorhome.

We stayed in site B-8 which had a concrete pad and I would not have needed to disconnect but we did to travel. The site has a nice concrete pad and all three connections were very convenient to the back of the trailer. We were close to the neighbors but they were very nice. Our awnings missed by about three feet so we had room. The pool was nice and warm and clean. We went to the game room/club house and relaxed for a bit and it is a bit out dated but comfortable and very clean. The park staff were all great and gave me a ride to the garbage dump area and to the laundry. As has been stated earlier it is not obvious you need to check in at the office which is on the opposite side of the main road before you enter the park. The office is directly across the from the park driveway. They used the golf cart and took me over to get paid for out trip. It is very convenient to Mammoth Cave and several others. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf in a Travel Trailer.

This is the second Thousand Trails to stay at since we purchased our membership. It's just okay but we would likely not come back. They initial site they suggested for us would have been a nightmare. Zero shade, front door opens to neighbor's sewer, and probably would not have been able to open our awnings. We chose a shorter site in the trees. It wasn't bad and all the utilities worked well. ATT service is basically non-existent so we purchased the premium WiFi for $5.99 per 24 session. That was a waste of $. Dropped connections and slow speeds. Some of the buildings were in need of some TLC. Playground and pool were okay. The tent area looked a lot nicer than the RV area. It is relatively close to the national park visitors center. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf in a Fifth Wheel.

We belong to RPI which includes Encore, which is 1000Trails. This is typical 1000Trails. This being Encore which is the top of their line, it would be like a resort CG..NOT! This is not a resort by any means. But only cost us $10per/nt +$1 per/nt resort fee. Would NEVER pay their reg. rate. Front desk & rangers are the nicest people...but they don't own the CG. This CG is severely out dated, over rated & needs a severe facelift. The pool is nice and clean, decent size and busy. Our RV faces over grown weeds and forest trees. Neighbor on one side is like the rest in our row, permanents with lots of stuff all over. We are in 310. If you come here pending on the amps you need (we need 50), ask to be up front or in the center. That spaces are tighter but they are level. We are at the back by the back set of bathroom/showers/laundry building. Space 310, it is probably one of the most spacious and pretty level. So is 309 but it was taken. They will take you in a golf cart and show you what is available in the amps you need and you can pick your poison. Most are NOT suitable for Roof Mounted Sat Dishes. So on top of the $1 day resort fee (for not a resort) there isn't even a store here. They charge for wifi. We used our mifi w/ ATT as best we could. CG not ATT friendly. 1 bar, occasionally 2. Mini putt putt course is made with PVC pipes. Very sad looking, no players. The entire course is about 15x15ft. There are like 6 pull thru sites. They are not even close to being level. They are downhill & uphill, not level side to side. Would take 2 days to build up one side so that it would be level front/back & side/side. Some MH have to have one wheel off the ground so they can get the other side of their unit level. Picnic tables need serious work. Firepits are nice/big but inconvenient. At back corner of site. Can't sit around, would be sitting on side of hill below fire pit in neighbors space. Add pics later when gone from here in 2 days where we have ATT service.Roads are gravel and narrow. Disconnect towed before traveling through. Allowed to park towed beside RV on the Grass/weed area. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is an adequate rv park. It is a 1000 Trails park and I accessed it with P.A. This park was the probably the flower of 1970 parks. But in the last 40+ years it has become a bit wilted. Roads: Are gravel and in good shape and easy to get around on. In fact they were applying new gravel while we were there. Sites are gravel with a very tired picnic tables and a fire ring. The sites are pretty close together but not awning to awning. Level sites are there but they are few and and some are rather extremely out of level. We were in site 401 and it was fine. I saw many rv's with one set of wheels off the ground and lots of blocking used to get level. The showers are about the size you find in an average rv. They are very clean and well maintained with good pressure and hot water. This park is convenient to the multitude of caves in the area and is a 30-40 min. drive to Bowling Green in Interstate. They have Wifi at a cost and we didn't try it. Verizon phone and Mifi worked fine. The host and check in folks were all very helpful and friendly. They not only led me to my site they had me jump in the golf cart and ran around the park so I could pick one that I liked. Grocery stores and supplies are about 15-20 mins away. As I said this is an aging park that has been pretty well maintained. If we came back to the area we'd stay here again as long as we got a good discount. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Close to all the caves. Note that Mammoth Cave is a National Park for a reason. I would suggest that money invested in the various different tours they have of the Mammoth Park Caves is better spent than going to the other private caves in the area. The Corvette Museum in Bowling Green is interesting and if they have the plant open for tours it would probably be pretty interesting. It was closed for retooling when we were here.

We stayed in the off-season so most of the amenities were closed. The campground was very clean and had a few long-term residents but plenty of available sites. It was easy to manage our 32' travel trailer on the property and in a pull-through site. The staff seemed very friendly, and patrolled regularly. Our children had a great time playing on the playground equipment which in a sand bed. This was fortunate given the amount of rain we had but the playground drained quickly. Wifi is available from an outside vendor and we received 6 over-the-air channels (no cable available). We have Verizon cell service and which was very good. The campground is about 7 miles from Mammoth Cave. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf in a Travel Trailer.

Bowling Green is the closest large town (about 30 minutes drive) with several options for food, shopping. Glasgow (about 15 minutes drive) is a little smaller but has a Walmart. Kentucky Down Under is nearby and offers a fun afternoon and chance to pet kangaroos and tour a small on-site cave.

Great location. You can walk to Diamond Caverns tour. 7 miles or less from Mammoth Cave. 20-30 min from Bowling Green. We had a great time here but I think in part that was because it was spring break and it was a lively atmosphere. This campground could really benefit from some maintenance. They have mini golf and a playground but all pretty old, serviceable but old. Hard to ride bikes within the campground because of unevenness and gravel. This was just an overnight stop while traveling on I-65 so we did not get to see all the caves and etc that the area has to offer. The setting is very nice and the campground is in a hilly area. This place is 'big rig friendly" - sort of. The roadways are tight and the lot spacing and driveways are close. Do not attempt to drive thru here with the towed vehicle still attached. Seemed pricey given that there is no OTA TV available, no cable and only spotty WiFi. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf in a Motorhome.

This is one of those parks that greatly varies in site quality and privacy. We got very lucky and got into site 602 which is on the top of a hill on the southwest side of the property. There are a couple of permanent residences nearby but your patio side looks out onto nothing but mountains and trees. Nobody nearby made a bit of noise the two weeks we were there. It was like our own little home for a while and made this stay bearable. If you are staying more than a night it is worth it to drive around and see what's open. This site 602 was quite unlevel side to side but not a problem. That being said, most of the other sites here are just standard spacing with a few pull-throughs and back-ins. Many sites seemed very unlevel. The park itself just looks tired. You drive in past the most ridiculous looking decrepit mini-golf and it doesn't get better. The pool (granted not quite pool season in KY) was half full of thick green water. The buildings look like they are never used. You can tell there are a few permanent residents here that try their best, but this park really needs an investment injection to compete in today's market. The fact they charge a $4/day resort fee is laughable. Add that to the standard rate of $45 per day and it just doesn't compute. We did get a passport America discount for 5 days and a weekly rate that was slightly less. But the resort fee is fixed. There is huge potential here since this is actually located within the Mammoth Cave national park, I hope they improve. Water pressure on the hill was poor. Water pump required for showers. The staff were all very nice and helpful. Very easy access for any size rig. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf in a Motorhome.
