DISCLAIMER- This is geared toward BIG rig owners! It's a long narrow road into a lovely campground on the banks of the Kentucky River. Even though the owners have widened the roads by 4' and the sites by 3' and just re-surfaced the sites, the turns are still tight for 45' motorhomes with tows. Our site was long enough to not disconnect the tow but we dropped the car at the office because they had so much rain the grass in between pads was saturated. Our rear wheels and tow wheels on driver's side still got very muddy making the turn in & out. We needed extra sewer hose & extra hose to reach water. As long as you are well aware & well prepared, this is a lovely campground. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

Our stay was fine. Getting into the park was 'interesting'. Narrow roads and steep descents. Reverse this leaving. Sites plenty long enough. Side sites not good for bigger rigs. Roads narrow in the interior making getting around without riding on the grass very difficult. Small laundry there. Places to walk the pups. Really out of the way for shopping but we still enjoyed our time there. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Park was very clean and owners were very nice. The site was a pull thru in the middle. These sites are long and curved with the hook ups spread out, depending on how you are positioned you may need extension for either water or electric. The only issue we had was with the road in, the last 3 miles is on a very narrow country road (each lane maybe 9' wide) with drainage ditches on both sides. We used this park as a point to visit the Bourbon Tail and found it to be a convenient location. Park location is scenic as it is along the Kentucky river with tall palisades and water falls on the other side. Pull thru sites are wide open, great satellite reception. The park was very quiet at night. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

DO NOT TAKE MCAFFE LANE which is basically a one lane road. We took it in a 40' motorhome. Go to 1988 and take that. The lady in the office was extremely nice, the campground is nice with lots of full-timers. We had #72 which is a LONG pull-thru. We didn't hook-up to water as it was at the very end of the pull-thru and we didn't have enough hose to reach it. Other than that it was a nice park. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

We did Lexington, Bardstown, and the Kentucky Bourbon Trail from this staging point. Nicest campground we have stayed at in the past 30 days and 3200 miles of travel. This could be a destination camping spot. Several seasonal campers have already found it. Is literally down in a hollow. Three camp sites wide and about 3/4s of a mile long. Very well maintained and staff was exceptionally helpful. River right below the campground. High bluffs with a waterfall. Water access for boats and kayaks. Coming down Hwy 127 gps will put you onto a road which is marked "no RVs on this road" Heed the sign. Do not make the turn. Go one more road to the south. The gps designated road is just wide enough for one vehicle. No cell service, but wifi was free and worked fairly well for a camp ground. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Parking not a problem for pull through sites. They are very long. Back in sites are problematic. Most folks parked in other vacant sites. Seasonal folks tend to "own" their extra space. Request a pull through.

We stopped here for one night after some touring along the "Bourbon Trail". This park is a little off the beaten path but along a beautiful drive to get to the park. The owners are very friendly and attentive. The park is gated. We were here a bit off season in early April so there were few overnighters but it seemed there were several snowbirds as well as empty units used by locals on the weekends, perhaps. The water and electric at our site were a bit far apart from each other for our 22 foot motorhome but we managed. We very much liked our site and the owners of this park. There is a laundry facility but I didn't use it or the bathrooms. I noted there were two washers and two dryers. The ladies' room had two toilet stalls and 3 shower stalls and was kept very clean. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Our return visit to Cummins Ferry did not disappoint. This is a well maintained facility with super-friendly owners on site. We visited in the off-season, and found a few dozen long term campers settled in for the winter. All were friendly and kept their sites neat and tidy. Most sites offer full hook-ups. The center pull thru sites are a bit more spacious than those on the side. The campground is located at the bottom of the palisade cliffs, right against the Kentucky River. Yeah, it's a steep downhill to get here, but nothing you can't handle. Zero Verizon cell service in camp, but did get a dozen over the air TV stations. A small camp store has basic provisions. This is a secured property with key card entry, and I felt quite safe here. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

We love this campground. The owners are wonderful and friendly. We love the seclusion and beauty of the waterfall. Other reviews commented on cell service being limited, but we used wifi calling and it worked beautifully. However, cell phone service is not important to us when camping. That is why we camp. There is a lot to do in the area. Just ask the owners for ideas. They are very helpful. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

Horrible experience. The two owners which happen to be the only employees are not nice. I got cursed at by the owner for inquiring about why my electric bill for my meter was so high during a 2 month period when I wasn't even there to camp as a yearly camper there and I acted professional the entire time while they both huffed and puffed and cussed at me. They hand write your electric bill so yes, there's room for human error. My son was bitten by another camper's dog. Along with that incident, my active duty military schedule abruptly changed. I tried to get out of my 1 year contract after a few months there due to those two reasons and wasn't able to. Kids activities and events are lacking and are only done on major holiday weekends. There is no drinks around the pool area including bottled water. There is only one dumpster for trash which is rather far and outside the gate to the main camping area. For weekend campers calling to make reservations, I have heard them not reply to phone calls inquiring about camping because the pop up and tent sites are outside the main gate. We have heard personally several campers there that were highly dissatisfied. The river is there, but they play favorites on who gets those spots. I've never seen weekend campers ever get a spot on the river and there is no river swimming. There is a small pool that usually stays clean and one outdated bath house connected to the office/camp store. Camp store is ok and they have basic staples but they smoke inside of it. For these reasons, I won't be going back and I don't recommend military to go either. The paying customer is never right at this place and it shows. Not much to do around the area. This is located on the Kentucky River (no swimming) in a mostly wooded area. All Interior middle sites in the center row have no shade and no trees. Closest grocery stores (Kroger and Wal-Mart in Lawrenceburg, KY) are about a 25 minute drive one way.

Such a beautiful campground. Love the area, cleanliness, and the friendliness of other campers. We felt welcome at all times. The owners are wonderful, funny and care very much about the campground and those camping there. They helped us a lot as we were new to camping. It truly is a little bit of heaven located on the Kentucky River. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

First, and most impt, the road in is difficult to say the least. The first 75% is a narrow 2 lane road with no shoulder. The last 25% is one lane. Two RVs cannot pass. An RV and a truck can't pass. Highly suggest that if you have a tow vehicle, unhook before you take access road and let tow vehicle lead the way. Once you get there you will be greeted by the wonderful owners/mgrs. They are proud of their campground and in many ways show it. Grounds are well kept. This is essentially 3 CGs. The sites that back up to the river (actually on hill 40' above). They are spacious and level, but the asphalt pad is short so you may have to put your rear wheels on the grass as we did. The center sites are long pull thrus. But some are far from level and you may have trouble leveling. The further away from the office, they become almost level. The sites that back up to the woods also are far from level and short. Suited for TTs. There is no cable. River and pull thrus can get satellite signals. No Verizon service. They do have a phone you can use. The dumpster was .4 miles from our MH and they don't offer pickup as they should. Beautiful pool, office, bath house and laundry was .25 miles from our MH. Despite these negatives this is a beautiful place to stay. Make your Rez far in advance since the riverfront sites are mostly taken by seasonals. Very quiet. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Stay here if you must, but we warned. The road leading to this park is a very narrow two lane highway. It is approximately 5 miles off the road. The last quarter mile is a one lane highway. The laundry does not dry the clothes using $1.00 worth of coins as indicated. It is not opened 24 hours. It is not a big park, but settled in next to a river, surrounded by trees which makes for nice camping. A good spot if you are not touring the area. Low water pressure. Great if you want to launch a boat, they have a launch ramp. There is barely cell phone reception, however, we did have a booster antenna and that gave us three bars. They keep referencing to use their Wi-Fi, which we would hardly ever connect to. They do have a land line phone at the office and are more than accommodating to allow use without charge. Pull through sites are curved and not friendly for 5th wheels. Using this campground to tour the area wasn’t our first choice and probably wouldn’t stay again to be coming and going. Very nice to just stay put and camp. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Great park, very well manicured. Previous posts about steep road are true, but trees are trimmed and our 40' 5th wheel made it down. Right on the river with docks available. Very nice owners, always there willing to help out in any way. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice, quiet, clean campground. Drive back into the park is along 2 lane country roads but is not a problem - just take your time. No tree problems along the road to the park or in the park. As you go down the hill into the park driving a large motorhome or 5th wheel you might wonder what you're getting into, but don't worry, no issues. Park owners are extremely friendly and hospitable. Park is secure, requiring a key card to gain entry past the access control gates. Campground sits along the Kentucky River. You will probably not get any cell phone signal while in the park due to the parks location, but the park has excellent Wi-Fi. We had no issue with no cell service as we made day trips that got us back into cell phone range. In fact, just driving to the top of the parks driveway normally got us a cell signal. Good park to stay at if you want to do the Bourbon Trail tour. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

Note: The price reflected is based on a weekly rate. Park is very nicely maintained. Paved interior roads with grass between sites. Pull through sites are very long and have ample spacing between each. The pull throughs are curved and a little narrow, so rig placement can be a little interesting. Very peaceful and quiet. The road from the highway to the park is a very narrow two lane country road. Be careful as there are many blind spots as you drive the road. The actual road to the park is just barely wide enough for two vehicles. Wi-Fi is free and works great. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.
