Not much of an RV park but you can't beat the experience. Betty has 17 sites around perimeter of her yard but that is not why you go there. You go for the fun and camaraderie. You arrive as a stranger but definitely leave with many new friends, including Betty. She is the main draw to the park. She has created a warm, welcoming and good fun in her "parlor" and outside deck area (weather permitting). We would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend the experience. Betty is also very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and directed us to many local venues for the real "cajun" experience. Jam sessions in Maurice & Erath, Crawfish @ T-Bob's Seafood, tour of & jam session at Martin Accordions in Lafayette and more; experiences we will not soon forget. We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Can't give this RV Park an 8 or 9 as per earlier ratings. Yes, the owner is a great host hosting a Happy Hour at 4:30 each afternoon enabling everyone in the park to visit with one another. However the park of 18 sites is an all gravel parking lot with small sites creating a crammed in feeling. Full hookups, no cable TV, no picnic table, no pool or spa. Free Wi-fi, which is slow. Located on a busy road with road noise starting around 5AM, increasing through the rush hour. Back-in sites. However there is one pull-thru site. We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

In the area is the Tabasco Factory tour and gift shop on Avery Island and the Rip Van Winkle Garden and House on Johnson Island which has a movie about how the Lake got drained of its water. Interesting. Both places are worth a visit. Have lunch at the cafe at Johnson Island. Good food with a great view overlooking the lake.

Just a response to the above rating, the "no cable TV, no pool or spa" as specified above at this 17-site facility with two pull in sites is commensurate with the price charged for the site. Facilities which have these amenities are normally twice the price of this one. The wi-fi, which is free, that this facility offers is the fastest available with the present provider. Also, there are several picnic tables under a huge pavilion and a deck which seats many people who wish to use it.

As all of the previous reviews have stated you come to this park for a social experience. The park is the owner’s yard which has been gravelled over. Spaces are back in and very tight. Utility pole, water and sewer are at the back of the site so did require some maneuvering. There is no shade. The owner has a large covered patio area off of the front of her home which is where all of the guests congregate. While we were there we attended the happy hour as well as having a Louisiana shrimp boil which everyone participated in. We had adequate OTA television stations and Verizon service. There are restaurants, groceries, meat markets and fuel readily available. If you are up for meeting lots of new folks this is a good place to go. Just remember you are not coming for a gorgeous campground. We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The tour of the Tabasco Factory on Avery Island was a lot of fun. We took the cooking class which was taught by a well known Cajun chef. How's that

I appreciate the above review, except for the fact that "There is no shade". The west side and part of the south side have trees which do produce shade....some morning and some evening. Also, the comment that "you are not coming for a gorgeous campground" is taken lightly.

Plain gravel parking lot with RVs squeezed in close but this park is not about looks. It is about Betty the owner and her other guests. Gotta live it to believe it. We spent 4 nights, met the nicest people, shared food, laughter and fun with Betty and her guests. A funtastic time for our first Cajun country visit. We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Before you arrive plan your appetizer to take to happy hour. People bring a great variety, some very simple ie chips & dip some more elaborate i.e. stuffed pizza rolls. For lack of anything better - I popped popcorn one night - it still seemed to be appreciated.

I have to repeat on previous comments: The owner is THE reason for staying here. Sites are all gravel, full hookup, very tight. You won't have any reason to complain, though. With planned group activities, 4:30 Happy Hour, and so much to do in the area, you won't have time to worry about it. Had rain for two days, but sites dried quickly. Wish we could stay longer and we will on our next visit. This is such a wonderful little RV park because of our host. We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is the most friendly park we have ever stayed at. We have been full-timers for seven years and have been in 100's of parks. The CG owner herself is a native and knows the area so well. She will help you plan for any side trips

There is happy hour every day at 4:30 and you will meet the nicest people. We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Only stayed three nights but what a treat. The park has an awesome host and she lives up to her reputation. It was pouring rain and she came out to assist me in setting up.

The water drained very fast on the site. We will return for a extended stay. Thanks to the host for all the information on the area. We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Without repeating what everyone else has said, we will just add that Betty is genuine. She is legitimately and honestly welcoming to all who stay with her. When we checked in, she said "you are coming to Happy Hour at 4:30." It wasn't a question - we were expected! We did attend and had a great time every day of the week we stayed. Betty steered us and others to the best activities. She listened closely to our experiences and clearly intended to share them with others. Even the long-term folks picked up on Betty's attitude. This was the first time we have most of the other park residents come out to say farewell when we departed. Betty's RV Park and Betty is a marvel, definitely worth a visit, which could turn out to be the first of many. We will most definitely stay again if we are ever in the area. It is difficult to rate this park other than excellent because the owner/host, Betty, makes your stay memorable and comfortable even though your site space is limited, gravel and some highway noise. You come expecting to stay a few days and as her song states, "when it's time to leave you want to stay"! The daily happy hours and sharing not to mention the many, many activities available in the area make Betty's a special place. We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Motorhome.

As noted, Betty has graveled over her side and back yard, installed hookups, and called it an RV park. Don't expect any of the usual amenities. There's no place to walk the dog. No on site things for kids to do. But she works very, very hard to be a resource for all the things to do in the local area. Her 4:30 "happy hours" (BYOB, and appetizers) bring everyone staying there together, where each can share where to go, what to do, and maybe even do it together if so inclined. A "social" campground in the old fashioned sense, with everyone - repeat or first timer welcome. We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a pretty common RV park as RV parks go. The parking surface is large gravel and the space is tight when the park is full. If you need showers or restrooms, don't come here. The hookups are adequate albeit antiquated. The rating I give the park is not for the physical park but for Betty Bernard herself who makes the park a ten rating park. If you want to immerse yourself in the Cajun culture, Betty will make it happen. If you want to make many close friends, Betty provides the opportunity for that to happen with her 4:30PM happy hour which often continues into the evening with food and music. Betty's is an absolute happening. This is not a place for unfriendly people to come; you may wish to go to another RV park. I am a Cajun myself and I appreciate what Betty does to shine her wonderful light on our Cajun culture. We definitely would come back here when in the area. We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

You don’t go to Betty’s RV Park because of the campground. Betty has a great reputation for being a good host. She coordinates happy hour every day, and pot lucks and jam sessions at least once a week. If enough people want to go to a particular place, Betty will make the arrangements for the group. We enjoyed our visit at her campground. Now about her campground. Don’t expect very much. Betty converted her lot into a campground. Her house is in the center and all of the sites are located around the outer perimeter of her lot. All of the sites are back-in and are very tight. The make shift sewer is above ground and is located at the back of the site. We needed 25 feet of sewer hose to reach it. Since the sewer pipe is above ground you will need to raise your hose higher for gravity to drain the fluids. The water and electrical box is also at the back of the site. The electrical voltage was about 120 without any appliances being used. When the heaters were turned on the voltage dropped to 110. We were concerned about this. Most of the sites have 30 amp electrical services. Only a few had 50 amps. There are no bathrooms or showers. All of the sites and road was on packed gravel; some sites had more then others. Probably could get muddy if it rained hard. It was very quiet at night. The park had Wi-Fi but we did not use it. Verizon air card and cell phone worked well here. Betty’s campground is in a good location to visit the many sites in the area. We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed three nights including holiday weekend. Very quiet when road maintenance depot next door not operating. Park will be closed from 1st June - Sept 2013. Staff was very helpful and gave good tips on where to visit. We joined happy hour one night with staff and the only other (2) guests. Wi-Fi enough for us to Skype Australia. No showers, toilets or laundry. Would stay again on weekend. We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Motorhome.

We are concluding a week's visit to Betty's. We have enjoyed Betty's hospitality several times before and we are sure to return again. Visiting Betty's is like visiting a favorite relative who is intent on making sure you enjoy yourselves. And there is much to enjoy in Louisiana Cajun Country: music, food, festivals, etc. We have been RVing most/full time since 1999. We have camped all over the US and Canada. Betty's is number one in our book and there is no close second. Happy hour starts at 4:30 on Betty's porch; don't be late! Let the good times roll! We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Motorhome.

We arrived at Betty's RV Park expecting an ordinary park with the basics and very soon we experienced this wonderful home away from home delight with the most wonderful hostess who makes all her guests feel very special. From the nightly gatherings to the field trips, Betty's is an experience that no one should miss. We were there for four nights, made many new friends and have already made reservations for the end of the year. This is a park that is not to be missed! We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Motorhome.
