16 Parks near Amite, Louisiana
Sep 2016 - $35.00
Sites are fairly spacious. Roads and sites are paved. All sites are back-in. Lots of grass in the park. Some in the center of the park (away from the lake) have trees. WiFi is sporatic. No cable, but a decent antenna signal. - ta96silver
Mar 2015 - $45.00
GPS and Google Maps take you to the wrong location. We were coming from the southwest and the GPS took us through Denham Springs and down Highway 16 for 20 miles - to the wrong location. We were here during a cold snap, so the campground was mostly empty. It was an OK campground - just not what I expected for the $$. Might have been better during the summer. - timetocamp
Aug 2011 - $40.00
Very happy to see the campground is reopened with NEW OWNER. We camped with a group of campers it was great to have the campground open. The new owners were very nice and would do anything to make your stay a good one. We had a problem with the electrical but they fixed it quickly, with the campground closed for so long you can expect some minor problems. Great to have new owners and to be opened again. - The Old Timer
Apr 2015 - $19.00
This is a horse ranch w/amenities. Pull thru level, hard packed site. FHU w/50A. Very peaceful, country setting. GPS took us right to it.
We stayed 2 nights and they honored both nights with PA discount.
We would stay again and ride the horses again. We were in a motor home. - D Curf
Mar 2015 - $44.00
Other than being a bit overpriced and not having the correct size sewer hookups on some sites, this place is very nice. Very gracious hostess that will lead you to your site. They have karaoke and horse back riding. We were in motorhome and had no problem getting in an out. Very peaceful and quiet at night. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back for sure. - BryanK.
Apr 2014 - $47.00
Upon arrival you will check in at the sparsely supplied camp store. The staff is very friendly and helpful in getting your RV to its spot. Most of the sites are grass or dirt, and unlevel. There are plenty of activities throughout the day, including horseback riding, swimming, fishing, and arts and crafts. The bath houses and pools are clean.
Dust is an issue here as there are no paved roads. The staff did water the road down one afternoon, which helped some.
It is somewhat expensive considering what other campgrounds offer for less money. However, my 4 year old granddaughter had a great time. - DSLACamper
Jun 2016 - $33.00
This is a very rustic campground with lots of trees. The entry is down a long narrow road and we clipped the fence on the tight turn into the campground. The interior roads are all dirt and sand, and were tight for our 40 ft. motorhome. Our site was a grassy, sandy pull-through. Most of the sites have trailers on them although there were very few people here on a Sunday. There is wireless, but I wasn't able to connect with an iPhone, iPad, Kindle or laptop, just a spinning icon. Because of the trees there was no satellite reception, and they don't have cable. We were able to get about 5 antenna channels. I would try to find another place before staying here again although it was convenient to I-55. - RVerMJ
Sep 2015 - $30.00
Had a slight problem when we arrived. There was a miscommunication amonst employees and they had given our site away to another guest. They did accomodate us but we were put way out in the back 40 so to speak. This stop was just for 2 nights so we could go into New Orleans for the day. Utilities were placed decently and the Owner did help out with a minor problem that we had with the motorhome and fixed the problem while we were in New Orleans. Due to the fact that they were accommodating, we would probably stop again, but this campground is really not for a "big" rig. Our 39' pulling a car had problems negotiating some roads getting to the campground as it is out of the way down back country roads. - hound4
Jul 2014 - $39.00
Myself and other family members have stayed away from this campground for 9 years , because of the previous hateful/rude/foul mouth owners. New people bought the campground a year ago and are great!! They seem pretty laid back as we are. There were no special activities going on due to them recouping from the 4th of July weekend activities. Very understandable, its a lot on them. we will catch them next time. we had site 171. pretty good site. Wi-Fi only worked good out side our camper. the creek was fun and we will go back again. the new owners were very easy to talk to, unlike the ones before. we are very pleased with our stay. we are planning another trip in the near future. - lovegun
Nov 2009 - $30.00
It is off the beaten path, and very quiet. They lost our reservation, but luckily there was not a crowd expected. Some of the long-term residents were odd individuals that made you feel creepy, but if we stayed on our side of the campgrounds they stayed on their side. It is not an RV park, meaning the sites are not clearly established, we were allowed to par nearly anywhere we wanted and at any angles that would allow our traveling party to create a space for us to gather. The few interactions with the staff were friendly. The town of Folsum and Covington nearby were friendly small towns to occupy your time in. We really enjoyed our trip to the area. - Cap
Jun 2009 - $25.00
Overall the campground was nice. Quite a ways off of the beaten path though. You have to go down 2 miles of gravel road to get there. There are some long term tenants which gives the park a less than pristine appearance but they are in an area to themselves. The sites are grass with no paving or stone, but the soil is very sandy so there is no problem with standing water. My brother and his wife and child were going with us to the Global Wildlife Center and were charged $18.00 to enter the campground. Their website states a $6.00 charge per person per day, but I didn't expect to be charged for coming to pick me up. Had a live band on Fri night, I caught the last of it but I thought it was pretty good - arfrancois
Apr 2009 - $38.00
It is a campground but the staff was really nice, the pool was clean, it was a genuinely fun time. The bath houses were not up to standard but it is a campground and is appreciated that it did have showers. More specifically, the showers were functional and clean when we got there but after a packed weekend they did not look safe to use. Probably more of the guests fault than staff. The river was cool. The facilities were fun. The band was good. Spent Easter weekend and had a good time. If you are bringing a $500K motorhome expecting a five star resort, you will be unhappy. If you are planning on going camping in a family enviroment with a nice staff and nice people, then you may want to give this place a try. Really good people in this area. Don't quote me on the price, I don't remember exactly how much. - fatback
Jan 2017 - $10.00
This place is really run down, garbage strewn about especially on the exit road, the utilities were in mud and water. We checked in and after that never saw a resort employee. The water was abruptly shut off for several hours, never did find out why. We were told that WIFI was available for free in the camping area....could not even get a signal. We were there for several days and on the last couple of nights we had a loud group of drunks next to us they played loud music and partied until 2 AM very inconsiderate folks. The posted "quite time" is 10 PM. This park is run down and apparently the owners are not improving it. We also woke up to gunshots on 3 of the mornings must be a shooting range nearby.. We won't return. - rjsupersonic
Nov 2016 - $50.00
This park's amenities are in desperate need of maintenance and updating. The pools were clear (too cold to swim) but the pool areas were run down. The hot tub was empty and had caution tape around it. The miniature golf area was extremely run down, the game room was not in service and the restaurant was closed due to fire (looks like it had been closed a while). The camp sites were fair with old wooden picnic table and cracked concrete parking pad. The overall area was clean and clear of any litter. We were able to have a nice time despite the lack of advertised amenities. - kbg12379
Oct 2016 - $79.00
Stayed there on a weekend night when there was a LSU football game, so the rates were a bit higher, hence the value rating.
The campgrounds had been recently flooded during the heavy rains so there was a bit of residual damage.
Well stocked store, everything you might need for your camper.
Washrooms were a bit old but clean. - David34
Jul 2016 - $37.00
I noticed that they had a new sign, and that many of the monthly campers were cleaned up. The sites around the pool are now concrete. It is a work in progress because the park buildings, laundry room and bathrooms are still out of date. The improvements were not overwhelming, but a sign that this little park is heading in the right direction. I hope to see more progress on my next visit. - User2886
Apr 2014 - $30.00
This is not the worst in the world but it is trying. The roads not impassable but are rough and pot-holed. My electrical box was a thing to behold and fear. You are almost on the shoulder of the interstate and you think the 18 wheelers are coming through the window. Two good points, it has pull-through sites if you are done driving for the day and need a place to stop. Secondly, it’s close to Campingworld. - plove
Jan 2013 - $23.00
Great spot for us close to family in Hammond. Road going in is narrow as previously noted, but it is very lightly traveled. The entrance is tight but not a problem for careful drivers. The interior roads need a lot of work, many potholes filled with water on this visit. Place can get muddy when saturated by heavy rain as on our visit this time. Sewers are on septic system and our site had a problem, possibly caused by the recent frequent heavy rains. We had no problems on past visits. Our price is based on a weekly rate. We have used the park before but it is not really a "destination" park. - Grumpier99
Jan 2016 - $30.00
Planned to spend one night. Office was locked up with a contact number to call. No self registration or information on the sites. The nightly rate is just a guess. No one answered the phone or called back when I left a message. The restrooms were dark, lights were either burnt out or disconnected as the switches were on. The place was very run down and we just left. - normajean303
Dec 2015 - $40.00
Was OK to stay overnight, pricey if you don't have Good Sam. Check in was pleasant enough although they're doing some construction on the office. The pool was closed, so we didn't use that, but there was a nice dog run at the front we did use.
Site 1 - 23 are super close together - your electrical/water hookup are right next to the next site's picnic table. Site 46 - 57 are pond side and a bit nicer/roomier. It looked like there were quite a few long time residents but their sites were kept neat & tidy.
Site was perfectly level and the wifi worked well. It rained overnight and there was a lot of standing water when we left so that speaks to the level! The site itself was quiet but close to I-10 and Club Deluxe Rd is busy so a lot of traffic noise. - inetelle
Oct 2015 - $30.00
Nice site on front row, level. The park is being improved on a daily basis. Would recommend. - fairtaxmobile
Feb 2008 - $1.00
Advisory! The park website is closed. The KOA website no longer lists the Park. Telephone number gives a Fax signal. Conclusion is the park is no longer in existence - BbTrombone
Sep 2003 - $24.00
A very friendly staff that will work with you, very clean CG. Easy Access from/to I-55 or I-10. I stayed here 2 nights as a pre-stadging area for a Hurricane evacuation. They allowed me to stay an extra half day with out charging me, probably because they had sparse business and the oncoming hurricane. The interior roads and conrete pads are excellent. The lake is nice. Little shade but several new trees were planted. My site was along the road and quiet until a truck or car went by. Not much traffic but you will know it when one goes by. Across the street was an apartment house. - WPB
Jun 2016 - $28.00
One side of the park is for permanents and the other side is for RVers. The grass was mowed, but the roads are narrow, very bumpy, and very dusty. I was told the 50 amp sites were "over there" and to pick a site. I like being able to pick my site - I was the only one there! However, every site I looked at just had an open, 30 amp outlet tacked to a post. I called the office, thinking that I must have misunderstood, and asked that someone come out to point me to a 50 amp site, but no one came. Finally, I found what appeared to be the one and only 50 amp (uncovered) outlet tacked to a telephone pole with several other (uncovered) 30 amp outlets. Although I was the only person in the park, they appeared to be too busy watching TV to provide any help. I definitely would NOT stay here again. I am sorry I stopped in and interrupted their TV show. I am also sorry the minimum rating for me to give is one star. - Cookie49
Apr 2016 - $20.00
The park is clean and well maintained. The pads are grass with no tables nor fire pits, though there were a number of tables chained to a tree. The attendant was very accommodating. Located on a small lake off the Tangipaoa River. Many facilities, including fish, swimming pool and pavilion. We only used the facility for an over nite stay, but would certainly consider it for a few days if opportunity permitted. - Rol and Nancy
Oct 2014 - $20.00
Health Department must never visit as many Sewer connections had no cap on them. Fires are allowed, but no fire rings. People just built a fire where ever they wanted and then leave with hot embers in their fire. 50 amp sites are limited and Office Staff didn't know which were 50 and which weren't. Some sites can be used as pull-thurs, but clearance under the electric wires is limited. We would have pulled down the wires if we had tried. Okay for an over-night stop, but wouldn't stay any longer. - Michelle & Ann
