Stayed over the weekend, park is not being well cared for, boat docks in disrepair , interior roads horrible. Most sites are decent but no level or even close. Wifi spotty but is ok. Some sites are very narrow, your first step out of your camper can be tricky as the ground level is way below where your last step ends. lots of shade and some sites have a lake view . We camped at South Toledo Bend State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice State park with lots of shade and room between sites. Bring plenty of wood for leveling, the sites are way off level. Interior roads are in need of repairs. No over air tv but a few sites can get satellite. Good laundry facilities. Bring all your supplies because the stores aren't close. Would have given a higher rating if the sites were more level and had sewer. We would camp here again if in the area. We camped at South Toledo Bend State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We love this state park. It's beautiful. Still hoping they will do some work to make the sites more level, and the interior roads are beginning to need attention too, which is really keeping me from giving it a higher score. Plenty of wildlife abound, cheeky raccoons, deer, snakes, birds, and good fishing too. Sites are roomy and clean and shaded. Even has wifi, not great, but enough to check email, facebook, etc. No TV and no luck with the satellite either, so bring your dvds or your board games to entertain yourselves at night. Noticed lots of patrols by Park Police being done. We camped at South Toledo Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

Park seemed nice. We just needed an overnight on the way somewhere else. This was conveniently located when we needed a place to overnight. No reservation but they charged us a $6 reservation fee. First time I ever walked in without a reservation and was charged a reservation fee. The woman at the gate said they started charging that for everyone at the beginning of this year. She assigned us a pull through site that would accommodate us so we would not have to unhitch. The site was so unlevel we had to unhitch just to make it work. It was raining and we were exhausted so just went with it. Will not return, probably not to any Louisiana state park if they charge a reservation fee, even without a reservation. Ridiculous. We camped at South Toledo Bend State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Weekends are very crowded with people, boats, boat trailers, & multiple vehicles per site. Weekdays were better. Hiking trails are nice. Plenty of fishing possibilities. 1 restroom was being remodeled during our stay. No TV with antenna. Site kind of rough, used many leveling blocks. We frequently visit state parks in Louisiana and this is one of the most beautiful state parks we have stayed at. Sites are very clean, our site had a huge deck and a boat dock on the water so we could tie our boat up when in the camper. Staff was very friendly, park ranger did regular patrol and everyone was treated like family. Fishing was great, my 9 year old daughter caught fish all 5 days we were there. The sites are not very level, so you may need to bring some extra blocks, but the atmosphere in the park makes up for the unlevel sites. The bath house was under construction for remodeling so only one side was open with a schedule posted for men and women usage. We did not use the bath house so I cannot comment on them. Boat dock was in very good shape and can launch any size boat. They had been having a lot of rain prior to our arrival, so a couple of the roads had some potholes, but not too bad. The parish road leading up to the state park is in pretty bad shape, but it is not part of the state park, just be careful and go slow in that bad section. We have already made reservations to spend another week here. We camped at South Toledo Bend State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Great fishing on Toledo Bend. Rated the #1 bass lake in the country by Bassmaster. Hodges Garden is near by, along with several other historical sites. Closest grocery store is 30 minutes away, so pack what you need unless you like to travel to the grocery store.

We really loved this park, despite the fact that our site had no sewer connection. Water and electric worked fine. WiFi was very spotty though. The park's interior roads are in need of some repair, but overall the park was gorgeous. The park hosts were constantly working to ensure that the park was clean - we never even saw a cigarette butt on the ground. And the location was perfect - we launched our canoe every day right behind our RV. We also saw bald eagles each day during our paddling, and we caught black bass on the lake. This park was a very, very pleasant place to spend time, and we will most definitely return. We camped at South Toledo Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice park for camping, with good access to the lake if you like fishing. We stayed in spot 27, which gives us walking access to one of the boat dock to keep our boat. Boat docks have power and lighting, which allows easy charging of your boat battery or do some night fishing. If park had more full hook-ups it would be perfect. We will stay here again was in site 35 - awesome view of lake. Some site had decks. If you look at map - our site around where we stayed was the best lake sites. Before September 30, prices are $28 after October $20 for premium $18 for not. We like South Toledo Bend more than North. Lot more to do and you are closer to lake. We camped at South Toledo Bend State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

South Toledo Bend State Park has plenty of shade for those hot summer days. The fishing is off the hook. There is a boat launch, fishing peers, a swimming beach, paved walking trails, a playground for the kids and beautiful views of the lake. It is a good drive from the interstate. We camped at South Toledo Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful campground set on the banks of the Toledo Bend reservoir, a very large clearwater lake. An easy 10 if they had sewer. Fishing is great. Park was very nice, ranger was friendly and informative. Camp hosts nice, kept campgrounds clean and neat and could answer questions about stores, restaurants, local attractions etc. Other park staff were friendly. Park was quiet, even on busy weekend, quiet hours are observed. Sites are fairly level, a lot of them have wood decks; there are gravel paths to floating docks for fishing or tying a boat up. There are two trails, both easy to walk and offer great views of the lake and surrounding area. Lots of birds here. Will camp here again in the future. We camped at South Toledo Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

The lady at the gatehouse was super friendly and helpful. The park is very well laid out and easy to get in and out of. The bath house and laundry rooms were very clean. The fishing piers were nice to use. There is a small beach area as well. There is a nice playground for the kids. Park rangers made several trips per day through the park so the residents were not rowdy. Quiet time started at 10PM and everyone observed it. Overall I had a very nice stay at this campground.
