Sites are outdated and not big enough for larger campers. Hard to pull in with large fifth wheels, no patio, off pavement is dirt, straw and leaves. Rude people in office, park "ranger" and park "director" are very rude individuals. Stay away! We camped at Cypress Black Bayou in a Fifth Wheel.

Cypress Black Bayou, customer-relations-representative at Cypress Black Bayou responded to this review

I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy our campground. I have only been here a month so I wasn't available to help you during your stay. Our RV sites vary in size greatly, but of the 25 pull-throughs, only 2 are less than 125' long . We take great pride in offering 50A power at all sites as well as cleanliness and lakeside views. I hope that you stay with us again and have a better experience! My name is Jennyne and feel free to ask for me if you do make it back.

A great place to stay! The leaves were falling while we were there, but the grounds are beautiful. The sites are well spaced out, but a little bumpy. We did not need to do any leveling, but the utilities on our site were on the curb side of the RV. Not a problem as there was plenty of room to move around and get close enough. There are deer, egrets and plenty of squirrels. The squirrels are a little shy, however. We saw why when a hawk cross the road in front of us carrying a black squirrel for dinner. There is also a small zoo that we spent a couple of hours visiting. We camped at Cypress Black Bayou in a Motorhome.

We loved this campground as there were few in the park the weekend we stayed and we had no neighbors on either side of us. The view was beautiful and the full hookup was nice. We would give this an overall rating of 10 except for the rude staff upon check-in. We knew check-in was by 4:45 pm and as it was our first time camping we were taking a little longer than expected on the road. We called en route and told them we were on our way and expected to be there between 4:50 and 5pm per our GPS. The lady answering the phone was very cold and told us if we were not there by 4:45pm the gates would be locked and we would not be allowed in. I told her we were on our way and she was very rude and said again the gates would lock at 4:45pm. We debated on turning around and decided to go for it. We pulled in at 4:46pm and there was a staff member literally pulling the gate closed but we went on in. We were given our paperwork with no directions on the location of anything, nothing. Had it not been for the beautiful surroundings we would not be back. Just went by another campsite and the difference between staff was night and day. I have read other reviews about the rude staff and they were point on. We camped at Cypress Black Bayou in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed two nights the weekend after July 4th. We asked for and received a full hookup slot, which was nice. The site was level.

The picnic table and fire pit were on the opposite side of our RV, which I found odd. We did not use them so it wasn't a huge deal.

The site had a lot of cigarette butts and small pieces of trash scattered around it, which is why I can only give it 3 stars for cleanliness. It was as if the trash was mowed over instead of picked up.

The staff was friendly and there is a highly visible yet unobtrusive presence by the Park Rangers and Sheriff's Office.

There was no loud music or wild behavior and everyone was very respectful of everyone else. We camped at Cypress Black Bayou in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is our favorite campground so far. We live close by so that helps. The campgrounds are very shady and there is a lot of wildlife. There is a swimming beach close by as well as boat launches. They have plans to make all the campsites full hookups. Not all of the sites are level by any means and as previously stated some of the sites are poorly laid out. All things said it is a good place to camp. We camped at Cypress Black Bayou in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bring your camera for wildlife pics.

On our last trip we saw red headed woodpeckers and assortment of other birds. Two days in a row we saw a bald eagle on our campsite along the lake. Previously we saw several deer while riding our bikes.

My family and I stayed two nights at this campground in a 33' RV. We stayed in site 6. The campground was clean but set up awkwardly. Our fire ring and picnic table were set up behind our camper. Site 7's fire ring and picnic tables were in front of their RV which meant it was right next to ours. This made for little privacy. Also there are several sites that appear to be permanently set up and not well maintained. The wildlife center and zoo are nice if you have kids. It is worth staying a night or two if you are passing through but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here. We camped at Cypress Black Bayou in a Travel Trailer.

Great recreation area but, the RV sites are set up really weird. Half the sites have the picnic table on the wrong side of parking area. Also, almost all the sites have electric on one side and water on the other. Other then those few things everything else looked pretty good. We camped at Cypress Black Bayou in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very nice parrish campground. Sites are large, paved and well-shaded. There are some pull-through sites and some sites with sewer as well as electric and water. There were no sewer sites available when we got here but the dump station is conveniently situated along the road on the way out of the campground. Plenty of family-friendly activities available. Watch carefully for signs along the road. The road forks near the campground: be sure to keep to the right. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cypress Black Bayou in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a county-run facility (“Parish-run” in Louisiana) where we stayed for only one night. It is heavily wooded with shady sites, many of which offer appealing lake views. Very few of the sites have sewer hook-ups, and these were not available at the time we visited the park. Many of the sites are pull-throughs. All are paved with black-top. Interestingly, the park no longer has a limit on the length of stays, so that there are long-term residents (some of whose trailers and motorhomes have seen better days). When we arrived, one of the two bath houses was closed for repairs (although my wife ended up using the closed bath house because it turned out to be unlocked and workable). I would have preferred that the ranger who checked us in had told me of the closure before I’d selected a site and set up my unit. Also, the main road used to access the park was closed for repairs, so we had to drive 5-6 miles out of the way in order to gain entry. (I wish the person who I’d phoned at their ranger station prior to our arrival had told us about this). We camped at Cypress Black Bayou in a Motorhome.

We love this campground. Sites are large and shady. They have recently been repaved. There is a separate beach for rv'ers. On the property there is a petting zoo, nature center, catch & release fishing pond, and marina. There is a large beach and picnic areas for day use. A great family campground. Park rangers are very visible which make for a safe campground. Staff very friendly. We camped at Cypress Black Bayou in a Tent Trailer.

It is a great park and I would rate it higher but there are no sewer hook ups. Beautiful lake, and most sites have nice view. We camped at Cypress Black Bayou in a Motorhome.
