I come to this part of Louisiana to visit friends in Theriot LA and selected this campground because all the campgrounds nearer Houma LA, I was told, were full with temporary workers involved in some construction big project. This campground is totally no frills and is totally geared to the fishing community. The sites are level and spacious, the infrastructure works well and the management was helpful; however, the campground is a long distance south of any main east/west roads. - retiredfflarry

This campground was the worst I have ever stayed at. Restrooms were nasty and the showers you had to wear shoes in. - angie miller

This is just a gravel parking lot. Most of the campers are workers down here on a temp basis. No real amenities but we felt very safe here. It is close to restaurants and groceries. - rwalsh

A few frills RV park - more like a working man's RV park but very quiet, safe and all gravel spots with water, electric, sewer, Wi-Fi. We stayed here three nights because we could not find any other suitable park in the Houma proper area. It certainly worked in a pinch. - mobarb

We stayed here for a week trying to minimize overnight freezing temperatures during an unseasonable cold spell. We were toward the back of the park so even though it was near a main road and truck stop/casino, we didn't notice much noise. A few odd things, such as not getting a wifi code on check in. I think there must be a key to access the bathhouse & laundry because I couldn't get in. However, the staff was helpful and friendly so if I had needed either, I think it wouldn't have been a problem. The pads were gravel but the sites were spacious. There was no cable. There were cement patios but they did not have picnic tables. It seemed to have a mix of full-time and overnight sites. - lce3

Stayed 1 night through PA. A little odd because have to drive through a residential MH park to get to campground. Some run-down units in both places but next to newer ones. However very clean and staff employee who guided us in was very nice and attentive. The campground is small rustic area next to canal and under moss covered oaks. That said, we liked it. Quiet, clean, level and felt very safe. Certainly not a resort by any stretch but would have no problem staying again. - 2retiresoon

The RV park, as noted by others, is about a quarter of a mile in the back of the mobile home park which looks like barracks stretched out on each side of the road. The RV park however, looks nothing like the mobile home area. It is filled with trees with moss hanging down and it is a loop situated along a river with a boat ramp. The sites are spacious but the roads seem tight for a large unit --mine is only 24 ft--but I did see big rigs in there. Only plugged in and would have had a problem if I needed the sewer as it was on the wrong end. There are burls that apparently are part of the root system of the trees--they made walking around the campsite a bit tricky--had to pay attention. It was very quiet and pleasant--a good place to stop on my way to the bayou after leaving New Orleans. - nanzhere

Park is found at the end of a trailer park which is a bit odd. The camper site looks good, lots of shade and water access. The water is access is used by the general public though so that can be quite annoying. Overall it was okay, not the best but still good. Park staff was very nice and helpful unlike others we have been at. - ramper

The above review is dead on about this mobile home park. Never camped there, but live across the highway from Carriage Cove Mobile Home Park and jog through it on a regular bases. There is not much traffic, because there is only one way in and out and no dogs roaming around unattended. See quit a few residents living in RV's as a base to work in the Houma area and they are all very well maintained. Would give a higher rating if there was some shade in the day use area, although there is a nice open grass area with trees across the street. - seagull

I lived here in my 28 ft 5'er for 14 months while my house was built. It is a mobile home community but rents lot space to RV's for 1 month or longer. They also have a spot for nightly visits. The nightly area can handle about 20 RV's, back in only. It's one big concrete pad (no shade) and if they are full, you will be very close together. I've seen 40 foot 5'ers in here and Class A's as well. The management is very friendly. Their hours are something like 9 am - 4 pm M-F. I think the handy man lives here because he is always here, even on weekends. They will work with you. Make sure you give them a call before you arrive, as they don't want you taking a space they have reserved for others. The park is well managed and they don't put up with any crap. In the time I was here 3 Mobile home owners were ejected. (Home and people.) The common lawns are maintained by the staff and usually well kept. Each resident is responsible for their own yards. The park is quiet from around 11 pm till about 6 am. This is the best park (of 2) in the city of Houma. The only drawbacks: there is a shipyard behind the park and sometimes they do work through the night so there can be a lot of noise. It can be tolerated, but if the wind is blowing in over the shipyard while they are sandblasting, be ready to wash everything you own. In 14 months, this happened about 4 times. Despite the probation and parole board officers visiting several of the mobile homes on a weekly basis, I never felt in any danger. 99% of the residents are friendly, and like I said, the management does not put up with any crap. If you need to camp in Houma you might want to consider it. - WPB
