The site was in a State Park and was very clean. The roads in the campground are very narrow and there are very few places to turn around. Site did not have sewer hookup; however, was on a concrete pad and very nice. Our site was very spacious. We had a horrible cell phone signal and our portable WIFI barely worked. This park is about 15 minutes away from the Interstate. - Youngcop

This is another in the absolutely wonderful, and cheap, Corp of Engineers sites we have stayed at throughout Arkansas and now in northern Louisiana. You can't beat them. Electric and Water for about $18 tops and half that with a senior pass, and most of them are right on lakes. The sites are spacious and long and level. There are showers, but I will say they were old and not very appealing. But they'd do if you need them. We didn't use it, but they have a dump station so you can empty your tanks on the way out. No wi-fi of course, and Verizon signal was week, but I would absolutely stay here again! - Pdxjoanne

Before saying anything else, it is very easy to miss this campground. The website doesn't give enough or correct information. Coming from Minden on 159 north, keep an eye out for sign on the right (about 3 or 4 miles). It will say Beaver Dam or Caney Lakes 2 miles. This is where you turn left on Caney Lake Road. The campground is 2 miles down on the left. We kept going and had to drive another 4 miles to turn around in a church parking lot. On returning there was a huge sign to the park coming from this direction. Why don't they have the same sign in both directions? In any case, if you desire quiet near a lake this is the place for you. There were only 3 or 4 other RVs when we we visited. Several sites were long enough to handle our 45 foot motorhome. Some were more level than others. Plenty of room between sites as well. The utilities all worked great. We never saw anyone just paid our fee and dropped it in the box. The downsides are no WiFi, very limited if any Verizon coverage (at least at our site 12), and gnatty bugs. The interior roads are pretty narrow for large units but doable, and there were a few rather large potholes. Some overhanging branches but mostly trimmed. - Free

Quiet and shady. Absolutely loved it. The only thing that could be better is sewer hook up. However the park does offer the use of a portable tank. Also offers ice delivery using your ice chest. Wow! - Cpate

This is a small, extremely well run county campground. Gravel and pine needle sites, heavily shaded sites, reasonably level with picnic tables, fire rings garbage cans and nice charcoal grill/smokers. A few long termers/workers, but nice. A view of the lake and very clean showers and restrooms. Looking forward to coming here again. This is our 2nd visit here. - horsefolk

I stayed at this very pretty park for a month while working in the area. Great fishing for large mouth black bass and crappie. Fish cleaning station onsite. Very well maintained park. Trash can at every site. No laundry, no cable, no Wi-Fi; but I knew all of this going in. Mostly long termers. Very difficult to find from the highway because the GPS address was off. I had to call the park and the host came to meet me where I was lost and escorted me right in. Very quiet and peaceful. POOR Satellite reception due to the very heavy tree cover. BBQ pit and fire ring at every site. - texastiger220
Jul 2016 - $25.00
We stayed two nights the weekend after July 4th. We asked for and received a full hookup slot, which was nice. The site was level.
The picnic table and fire pit were on the opposite side of our RV, which I found odd. We did not use them so it wasn't a huge deal.
The site had a lot of cigarette butts and small pieces of trash scattered around it, which is why I can only give it 3 stars for cleanliness. It was as if the trash was mowed over instead of picked up.
The staff was friendly and there is a highly visible yet unobtrusive presence by the Park Rangers and Sheriff's Office.
There was no loud music or wild behavior and everyone was very respectful of everyone else. - GaryWB

My family and I stayed two nights at this campground in a 33' RV. We stayed in site 6. The campground was clean but set up awkwardly. Our fire ring and picnic table were set up behind our camper. Site 7's fire ring and picnic tables were in front of their RV which meant it was right next to ours. This made for little privacy. Also there are several sites that appear to be permanently set up and not well maintained. The wildlife center and zoo are nice if you have kids. It is worth staying a night or two if you are passing through but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here. - The Dowdy's
Jun 2012 - $19.00
Great recreation area but, the RV sites are set up really weird. Half the sites have the picnic table on the wrong side of parking area. Also, almost all the sites have electric on one side and water on the other. Other then those few things everything else looked pretty good. - Martino78
Aug 2016 - $35.00
We are very pleased with this RV park. Well laid out, very clean and well kept, friendly helpful staff and very quiet. The clubhouse/office is perfect: large private shower rooms, ample laundry equipment, clean restrooms and available via keypad locked door 24/7. The provided WiFi works well and the cable tv has excellent selection and picture quality. There is a catch and release lake on property that I am told "Don't fish, it will break your heart when you have to throw the nice fish back". If you are considering building an RV campground, come and look at this one. It's the way it should be done. - hoganc

We were here two years ago at ribbon cutting and thought the park would become a real jewel as it grew. Well, two years later, it is just as we left it.
No better, probably no worse. I was surprised.
No amenities have been added beyond what was there two years ago. No pool, or playground, no dog park, walking trails, or camp store. Only select sites had picnic tables and no fire rings. The emphasis seems to have shifted to permanent or long-term residents, without a need to attract the traveler off the road. The nights we were there we counted three pull throughs and two back-ins available. The rest were all permanent residents or long-term employed. The morning exodus to work and the evening return makes the roads very busy.
All that said, the park is very clean and neat with the usual disregard for printed rules by long-term renters (dog pens not allowed). The staff is busy, everything is well maintained. There is a large pond in the center of the park, with attractive landscaping. The roads and sites are a rounded river-gravel, some pull throughs, all are FHU. Hook up was easy.
Wi-Fi and cable come with the site and both were very good.
There is a single Main Building with all services. This is where you check in, also laundry, bathrooms, showers, and TV lounge with table and chairs. What is odd is that all of this is accessed from the inside, no doors on the outside. It is not really awkward just odd, as you head for the shower you pass the lady in the office and the folks watching tv or doing laundry.
The two unisex showers also include a full bathroom and are amazing.
As big as a luxury hotel and as sparkling clean as home. Very nice!
This park is pricey for what you get so they try to find discounts and will ask about, GS, SKP's, and FMCA.
This a fine park for overnight, well lit and secure, but I would surely call for a reservation.

Raised in the local area. In town for an extended stay due to a family illness. Quite impressed by the quality of the RV park. Several folks spending the winter, but also local college students.
Owners dedicated to making the park a value. They don't live in the area, so day to day management is by a park host.
Small rec area with very clean showers, washers and dryers. Local cable is free with site fee.
Not really on a major route, but will be our stop for future visits to family. - PawPaw
