We stayed here for just 1 night as a stop on a trip to Arkansas. Spot #65 was lovely. There were large spacious sites that were spread out nicely from each other. We were with 4 small boys who had a blast running through the woods. There was an unofficial trail where people had walked downhill from our site to the lake's edge. Patio was nice and there was a small square pad where a tent could be set up next to the RV. No stores or restaurants nearby. Bring in everything you need or bring a toad. Would definitely go back for a longer stay. - GearDown

They messed up our reservations and put us in the wrong site! They found another site for the family that had reserved the site we'd already set up in but it was a big mess in the beginning with threats of us having to move due to their error. We said NO, wasn't our fault, you fix it. They finally did. - PegL

This is another well kept LA state park. Sites are quite spacious. Laundry is free and they have a small book exchange too. Nice boat dock which is accessible from both ends of the campground. - MSSW

Very handy off the highway, so much potential if only the right owners would come along, but to many full time old trailer tenants. Some nice sites, lots of terrain, lake, treed, but would not stay there again, has a sketchy feel about it. Nobody at the office before 5pm and nobody at 10 am when i left, honor system. - Steve Vanleigh 375FL

Good place for an over-night stop. Called for a reservation and all the woman wanted to know was when we would arrive and the kind of RV we had. When we arrived she escorted us to a pull-thru site with our front windshield looking at the pond that had been marked with a cone. Some of the sites have wooden patios. We did not use any of the facilities. Our site was clean and tidy but there are some full-time residents whose sites could use some attention. Our site had good AT&T service and clear sight for Dish. There was a road noise and an occasional train. The roads were dirt and gravel and some grade to and from the loops. We would stay there again. - SoonerMom

We stayed here twice, once on the way to Dallas for a wedding, and then again on the way out of Dallas. It is right off of I-20, easy access into the park. The roads in the park are a little rough, some potholes and tight turns. Check in both times was fast and friendly. We stayed in B-36 both stays, it is the perfect site. A level, gravel pull through with full hookups and no issues with any of them. The site is on top of a hill with a large wooden deck (most sites have one) with a picnic table and a nice view of the stocked pond. It was plenty long enough for our 37-foot Class A, tow-dolly and parking the car.
There are a number of permanent residents, some are a little rough. There is some trash laying around, but on our second visit it seemed some of it had been picked up. There are two permanent residents that never clean up after their dogs and of course it was always right in front of our RV. With all of that we did enjoy our stay. There is road noise, you will have that with easy access to the highway and a loud train. We stayed February 20-27, 2018 and again March 8-11, 2018. Did not use the laundry or bathrooms. WiFi was spotty and our Verizon signal was just okay. There is some road noise and a train. We paid $125 weekly rate first stop and $25.00 a night the second stop with our Good Sam Discount. - BarrettsHappyTrails

Located on US-84 about two miles east of Winnfield, LA. Friendly owners, shaded sites, would stay here again. - fgalend
Nov 2012 - $20.00
Stayed here for one night because we had to. Sites are out in a grass field with no runners. Extremely un-level. No cable, No Wi-Fi. Had to hunt someone down to pay for the night. Did not feel safe. Will not be camping here again. - aw wall

Roads are dirt and gravel. Sites are dirt and grass. We had a large pull through which did not receive 50 amp service without a wire across the coach. Lake view was very nice with lots of geese. It was very dusty and could be muddy with rain. The roads in and out were very bumpy and the hook-ups looked rather outdated with dangling wrap, etc. Some large dogs were running loose. No problems with satellite or Verizon signals. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. The park was fairly empty when we stayed but you will want to check the website for the bargain shopping weekends (usually the second or third weekend of the month) which will attract large crowds and affect availability. - BigRigTravelerUSA
Apr 2013 - $3.00
Just a nice little national forest campground, right off of US84, but little traffic noise. Large shady sites with grills and tables, but no amenities except for port-a-potties. Short walk down to a small fishing lake with more tables and benches. - housecar

A gem of a park located less than 10 minutes north of I-20. The park is owned by the Parish (County) and is about 30 minutes west of Monroe and 60 minutes east of Shreveport. If you are passing through stop here. The park is kept up well and has a nice paved walking path around the small lake, which has a small beach, and tons of mountain biking trails. About half of the sites have been redone with a concrete pad and have a small patio area with a railing around the back of the site, if it is by the lake. The rest of the sites are asphalt and have pretty close and steep drop offs towards the lake. The drop offs make most of the fire rings unusable and give you little to no patio room. They are in the process of redoing the sites on the outside of the road before they work on the pull-thrus (of which they have 4) when they get enough funding from the Parish. Cell service was great (AT&T), OTA and Dish users may have trouble getting a signal due to all the wonderfully tall trees. Despite the minor issues with the site, it appears it is first come first serve, however you can make a reservation just not reserve a specific spot, this is a really nice campground and park. Be advised that the gate closes each night so if you are coming in late make sure that you call ahead and find out how to get in. - Ian B

Very nice, clean quiet park. Would stay here again. - JamesandLisa
Jun 2018 - $30.00
Nice campground, all interior look afs paved. Sites are asphalt or concrete. Mostly backins. I had site 7, a pull through. It is not level but we made it work by putting the trailer wheels at the top and a couple if boards ubder the right side. Nice paved walking paths around the lake. Campsite area was well cut so no bugs. 50 A full hookup. No cable but OTA reception was good. Well away from major hiways, railroads and airports so very quiet. Campsites are heavily wooded. Playground for kids and swim beach across lake from campground, a 5 min walk. Can rent kayaks to use on the lake. - Jimstone
