$28 a night plus the silly $6 reservation fee LA state parks charge.
Bring a lawn mower with you doesn't look like the grass has been cut in the camp ground for over a month!
Got a pull through site close to the comfort station. Site space was ample and was easy to get in and out. Looking at most pull through sites in the "new campground" the pedestal is on the wrong side, our electric reached no problem had to make a Walmart run for another 25' hose.
Sites 73, 74(pull through), 75 and 76 are the only ones with sewer connections.
Restrooms very clean camp host was doing a good job keeping them stocked. Showers looked nice and clean but we choose to use ours.
Trash cans through out the camp ground had flies all around them could stand to be cleaned and sprayed a little better.
Day use area fills up with locals enjoying the lake / beach but they do stay out of the camp ground.
Some of the camp sites are turning into gravel as the asphalt has aged and shifted they are just filling in with gravel. If maintenance is not performed the entire camp ground will be gravel in the next few years.
I would have given this park 5 stars had it not been for the flies and the grass.
I was able to connect to the WiFi and get an IP address but could not surf. Verizon signal is excellent here since you are basically in the city so we used our hot spot. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Everything is close by! If you are looking for a desert after dinner I recommend Bop's Frozen Custard it is less than 4 miles west of the park entrance on 190.

The campground has low hanging limbs that you need to watch and the grass wasn't cut in the campsites. For $30.00 a night I considered this high for water and electricity. My site was tight for my 40 foot rig. The pull through sites are loops and therefore the size is deceiving. Will have to admit, the Park does have some beautiful trees. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice park. The sites are level and easily accessible with large rigs. We enjoyed the park hostess, who was very informative, helpful, and welcoming. Many nice areas to walk the dogs and it was an easy drive to New Orleans. The lake causeway is 20 miles long and is a flat bridge across the lake. The park is well kept, clean and very lovely. We look forward to returning here again. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This is about 30 minutes from the French Quarter. we really enjoyed being able to visit New Orleans and then relax in the quiet of this park.

Very spacious, clean bath house. Pull-through site was a very tight arc which made our 28 ft camper and full size pickup awkward to park; saw some not quite as tight. Nice level paved roads to ride bikes with beautiful scenery and convenient to the Tammany Trace for longer rides. Some low areas which fill up with rainwater and draw mosquitoes. Clean in general. Quiet at night. Convenient to town for those who need to go. Fire ring & grill close, picnic table movable. Only 6 sewer hookup sites. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in lot 23. Overall clean state park. Pulling in you need to watch low hanging branches. There are some nice beaches on Lake Pontchartrain in addition to kid's playground in the south campground. Only six sites have sewer, but dump station is conveniently located close to exit when you leave. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out the alligator pond when you come down.

This is a huge park right on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. There are only 5 FHU sites, so be sure to make your reservation early if you need sewer. This is a heavily treed park, but we were able to get satellite reception from our separate tripod set up near the front of the rig at the street. Just ask for a satellite friendly site when making your reservation. The restrooms/showers are clean and conveniently located. LA state parks honor America the Beautiful passes (50% off) if your home state reciprocates. Unfortunately, Texas does not so we had to pay full price. I would definitely stay here again if coming to the New Orleans area. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Mandeville is a really nice town with plenty of restaurants, both national chain and local. Do a little homework online before you come if you want to see the plantations on River Road between Baton Rouge and New Orleans so you'll know where you're going.

An older park that is getting ready for the summer traffic. Nice park with lots of space. Appreciated the lower mower who mowed our area when we came in. Lots of nice hiking, near to an excellent bike trail and a small beach. We enjoyed our evenings around the campfire and went on a hike. We would camp there again. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Motorhome.

beautiful setting on lake pontchartain. it had rained for a few days and all the sites were very wet. because of the rain, hooking up electricity was very scary - standing in water. and plug in. walked in mud the entire weekend. the shower house was very clean. the sites are narrow and very close to each other. wifi was good, tv was very accessible through the antenna. mandeville is 5 miles away so there is availability for food, shopping, groceries. this park will accommodate large parties. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

It's la. what is there not to do - food, swamp tours. new orleans is just across the causeway.

We camped with 3 other RVs. We had a wonderful time the 3 nights we were there. I have been to other campgrounds that were not half as nice and double the price.

Easy access in an out of the park. Very clean rest rooms. Fire rings on site.

Will be back for sure. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We rode around at night and I have never seen so many deer in my life. They have hundreds that just walk around in the open fields.

Internal roads are paved, but beware of low branches and roads heaved by oak roots. Our pull thru site was level, some back-ins are not. Facilities (E & W) worked well, site was satellite friendly. Staff were friendly, park WiFi was slow but useable, T-Mobile cell service was spotty. The park was quiet. We would stay here again. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Fontainebleau SP is an expansive park on the north shore of Lake Ponchartrain just east of Mandeville. Of note is the Tammany Trace Rails-to-Trails, which runs through the park.

The park contains 121 water/electric campsites, five full hookup sites and 37 tent sites and is suitable for big rigs. There's free Wi-Fi but it never actually connected to the outside world in the several days we were there. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice state park and convenient to Mandeville and Abita Springs. Would rate higher if more sites had sewer (dump station is available). Would help if they trimmed low tree branches from roadways and sites. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Before we even got checked in, the lady at the front desk was very rude because she didn't wait for us to tell her we had an access pass and had to re-check us in with the discount rate. We were not given a map and there are no signs to tell you which way to what camp number other than off the main road. Trying to navigate the camping area in our rig was treacherous due to tight curves and low hanging branches. Our space, a back-in campsite we reserved was rated on-line as being plenty large enough but the right angle, crowded conditions and ravine made it impossible to get into. Upon returning to the front desk, we were told there was nothing they could do. They did issue a "partial" refund but kept $15... not sure why other than (policy). We had driven about an hour out of our way to visit this campground so overall we lost about $40 and several hours of our time. Nevermind the frustration and stress involved. If you have a larger rig, make sure you get a pull-through site. If you can manage the campground, the park itself is amazing with beautiful nature trials and a lovely beach. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A convenient State Park about 45 minute drive from New Orleans. Grounds were clean although sometimes rutted by units too big for space trying to turn into position. Sites on outside of section set up backwards. Electric/water hookups on wrong side so I needed extension for electric cord. My picnic table and fire ring were moved away from parking site and grill was on opposite side of RV. Very strange setup. Site is paved and level. Area is wet - not sure if from recent rains or just a high water table. Park staff emphasized when I checked in there was a lot of water and I would not be able to move to a different site. Busy over the weekend but always spaces open. Last weekend of Mardi Gras and weather was great. I would stay here again when visiting New Orleans. Final note: there are only 5 sites with sewer access, remainder of sites are split between electric/water and no hookups. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Motorhome.

We have been visiting this park in the winter for a number of years. This year I made a reservation 6 months ago and was able to get a full hookup site, #76, that had all the utilities together and on the right side for a back-in site. Our neighbors, who also have sewer connections, have hookup problems, too far, wrong side, etc. The park is wet this year but has also been wet in the past, nothing new. The parking pads are breaking up, ours was just gravel, from heavy RVs and leveling jacks. Some sites are short. Neighbor, next site, can't park his truck on site, and he had a devil of a time backing in. Then damaged his travel trailer when he opened his slide, tree was too close. Wi-Fi is slow because of all the embedded ads that are being filtered out or blocked. (This wasn't a problem in the past but we all know more ads are showing up on web pages.) But I come for the Tammany Trace, a bike trail that is under construction for the last few years. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Motorhome.
