Well designed utilities hook up and grounds kept well groomed. Perplexed by pot holes in gravel roads, observed operator on tractor with grader box, he was clueless on how it worked. Pot holes never filled, why? We camped at Aviation Arbor RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

No better spot to do NOLA. Excellent DQ type ice cream spot east of base. Ferry is best way to see downtown and it's $2.

Aviation Arbor is a great park. Very clean, neat and roomy. There is no cable but we got 44 stations with our King Jack antenna. There is WiFi by signing in to a Navy website. The problem with it is that when it times out you can't find the log in page. (At least we couldn't) Cell service was great - 3 and 4 bars with Verizon. Each site is very roomy with concrete pads. The road is gravel but wide enough to maneuver and really well kept. The people working the office were very helpful and friendly. By the by; if you're going to have a package shipped there make sure it is UPS or FedEx. Mail turned out to be a bit of a problem except the people at the office were very helpful in helping us get our mailed package. When driving in the gate, which is high enough for any RV, there are barriers to navigate. Don't worry. They are far enough apart that weaving through them wasn't a problem so long as you take your time and watch your mirrors. My only complaint doesn't have anything to do with the park. To get there you have to drive through the heart of New Orleans with all its traffic and exits and lane changes. Also, we learned the night before we left for Aviation Arbor that there is a tunnel on 23 that is low clearance. According the source we were reading it is 13'7". We are 13'3" and 4 inches of clearance didn't feel real good. We decided to alter our route to Gen. DeGaulle to 407 to 23. Another side note - The road conditions we traveled in southern Louisiana (New Orleans included) are in deplorable condition. If their not concrete bouncing you to death then they are asphalt that are in horrible condition. We camped at Aviation Arbor RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

The restaurants that listed in the Welcome Package that we visited were outstanding. We went to Salvo's and Lil G's. We would highly recommend either one. (Ask for Victoria as your server at Salvo's - she is terrific).

We stayed here for a week I n March. Camp host was very helpful with a information packet. Her knowledge of the area attractions was spot on including her favorite canjun restaurant. Very well laid out and close to downtown. We camped at Aviation Arbor RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

First time staying at park. Drove thru last January. They are installing concrete barriers that you have to navigate thru, as in most military sites. These we the worst I have encountered. 40' MH with a 22' vehicle. The concrete pads are e an needed when it rains. Grass surrounded. watch for "FIRE ANTS"!!! mounds all over, one large one adjacent to patio. O.K. as long as you don't disturb the mound. Hook-up post clean with 30/50 service. Water hook-up leaks a little. Ferry to Canal Street great, instead of trying to drive into New Orleans. Comm/PX close and "subway" shop when coming in to late to cook. Had to take RV to get propane, 20 minutes, not to bad, but come with what you need. All in all a very good stop. we were here for 6 nites in a MH. We camped at Aviation Arbor RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Stayed 2 nights, clean facilities, friendly staff. Walking distance to Commissary and NEX, base is in good shape, park is near family housing. All sites have FHU, with level concrete pads, only a few Pull through sites so call first, 20, 30, 50 amp service at each site. The only thing that we considered a negative were the mosquitoes that flocked at dusk. The city roads getting here are a little rough but we were only a few miles from the ferry into New Orleans which made it nice. We had plenty of room. Overall rating is excellent, would definitely stay here again. We camped at Aviation Arbor RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

The staff here were very friendly, but the camp is no great prize. The pads sit in two long rows and the road is an oval around the outside. There is not so much as one tree or shrub to provide shade or cut the glare of the sun. I was there the first week of May and the heat and humidity were already becoming oppressive. The camp has 40 RV pads, but the laundry facility has three washing machines. The only dumpster is just outside the entrance to the campground, so you have to dump your trash as you come and go from the campground. Building an RV camp is not cheap; it is sad when planners spend what has to be spent for the basics, and then skimp on the little things that make the difference between a sterile set of concrete pads and a place that one remembers as a great place to vacation. We camped at Aviation Arbor RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

Nice and new military park with lots of rooms between sites. All sites had concrete pads, which was nice because when rains it can get very messy. This is bayou country after all. Located about 30 minutes from New Orleans, but not a bad drive, but you will need a vehicle. There was no public transportation. Nice NEX and Commissary. Just the basics, but is a bargain for a safe place to stay. Staff very nice. We camped at Aviation Arbor RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here while visiting New Orleans. The campground is very clean, well laid out and easy to maneuver around. All utilities were very good, no cable but plenty of channels to pick up over the air. Nice paved, level sites with grass between each, very roomy. Wifi was solid and laundry room has three washers at $1.00 and six dryers at $.75 for 30 minutes.

The biggest complaint is about the information given by the office. Other reviews raved about Kenny in the office giving tons of information about New Orleans including the ferry, places to park and many other things. We arrived and the girl checking us in, while was nice, had to keep asking other people in the office about the things listed above and really knew nothing about the area. We arrived late in the day and were given the welcome packet and essentially told all the information was listed in the packet. None of the information listed was correct. The ferry address and hours was incorrect, the tours and prices listed for the ITT was also wrong. When checking with the ITT office, they stated the contract for 2016 hadn't been completed yet so many tours were not even available. I was amazed by this considering we were there during the Mardi Gras season. On top of everything I was called back to the office because at check in I was not charged the correct amount for the stay. I can understand one mistake in the office, but with all the misinformation and the payment mistakes it makes it tough to go higher than bad on service.

The commissary and exchange were fine, not the largest, but had most of what we needed for a two and a half week stay. You will hear Coast Guard helicopters frequently since the pad is just behind the campground. Jet noise itself was occasional. Outside of the service the park is great. Nothing to do in the immediate area, so you will drive at least 30 minutes for something to do, including off base shopping at Walmart. We camped at Aviation Arbor RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

When driving in, take I-10 to Business US 90 to exit 9B 428E General De Gualle drive. Take it until it becomes 407, then merge onto 406/ towards Belle Chase Highway. The other route listed takes you down 23/Belle Chase Highway which is very bumpy and has a narrow tunnel which is passable at 13'7", but I strongly recommend taking the alternate route.

We had a site facing canal with runway on other side. The canal had trash. Gravel road into the campground was full of potholes. That's pretty much the only real negatives about this place. We stayed 2 weeks. Sites are cement pads surrounded with clover and grass. Plenty of room between sites. Hookups are in the middle. No trees. Laundry $1, dryer 75 cents, very clean. Also clean restrooms and showers. No off leash dog park but plenty space to walk dogs. Also, there's an off leash park nearby in one of the neighborhoods that we used. Free WiFi was fairly strong during day, not so much at nite. Campground is noisy with planes taking off or idling on runway which is just on the other side of canal. Check in person was very helpful with nice welcome package at check in. They accept UPS and Fedex at park. Exchange and commissary are within walking distance. Cute base. Would stay here again. We camped at Aviation Arbor RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Great sites with grass and concrete pads. Pedestals are modern and well kept. No cable, but HD TV reception is good. Verizon 4G wireless at 2-3 bars. Free Wifi is good and bandwidth capable of regular internet use. Near flight line, so air traffic noise evident. Great staff very friendly and helpful. Laundry $1 for washer and 75 cents for dryer. Great pavilion with picnic, pool and ping pong tables. Cross canal using Woodland bridge off DeGaulle so you bypass tunnel. Clearance is questionable. Will definitely return. Tips for other Campers:

Quite a drive to "downtown" but we were able to find a satellite Caf? duMonde @ nearby (8 miles) mall. Phenomenal biegnet's!

My "tip" would be to pay the extra money and stay north of the city, if you'll be here for just a few days and are here to see New Orleans itself and not just sit around your motorhome in the park.

This park is a long way off the interstate with a drive on not-so-pleasant roads with lots of traffic. Despite the advertisement that it is close to the French Quarter, that isn’t true. It is at least a 20 minute drive. There are two sections to this CG. The one I overnighted in was basically a flat, gravel parking lot with full hook-ups. I don’t have one, but I suspect pets would not appreciate walking on all that gravel. There is absolutely no trees or grass. Space between the sites is good and utilities worked as advertised. VZW 3/4G was good, as was the Wi-Fi. There is a large, no-cost laundry facility, but it was not very clean. Underwear and other left behind clothing was scattered about. A drive thru of the other section reveled that it was a better aesthetically pleasing part of the CG with some grass, paved roads, and large concrete pads. We camped at Aviation Arbor RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

A great staff compliments the great facility! Pads are level with plenty of room between them grounds are well maintained. It is convenient to New Orleans without being in the crowded urban area. Once we learned the right roads we could get to French Quarter quickly and easily. We definitely will be back to stay again! We camped at Aviation Arbor RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

We stayed four nights. It is about 30 min from town. Not the easiest to get to. That said it is really nice. New park. Still some work left to do. Wide sites with double cement pads. Lots of space between sites. Host was fantastic. Close to base facilities. We took the Algiers point ferry into New Orleans. It is free. Parking right next to the ferry is $5 all day. This is a military facility so not available to everyone. We camped at Aviation Arbor RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Belle Chase-Aviation Arbor for 2 weeks. Wonderful accommodations. Immaculate, secured (with locked access-code doors) laundry and shower/rest rooms. All sites are paved double wide, so you don't have just your coach on the pad, but also have a full pad area to camp on. Only missing thing are picnic tables. Currently are there are not any on site. Great base camp for just about any tourist attraction around the city or outlying areas. Excellent staff. Only suggestion is to remind them of the discount of a day's rent if you stay more than a week at a time. Can't wait to come back. We camped at Aviation Arbor RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.
