Yes, this is a gated park that closes gates only overnight. It is a campground that is patrolled 24/7 to keep all safe. It is in an area that has abandoned buildings, railroad yard, & boat yard. The manager will even tell you this upon check in. The staff is more than helpful, friendly, and courteous. The people we met while staying here were all very friendly. The sites are pull through with full hooks along with cable tv. The Wi-Fi is under construction so you only get good reception at the restaurant, pool, or office. The restaurant is on site if you do not wish to cook. My wife and I Would Stay here Again and the Campground and Area were Very Safe. They have a shuttle daily to take you downtown at 10AM and return you as well as drop you at 4PM. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Travel Trailer.

Not dog friendly. They have a dog park, but it's not close to most of the RV spaces. You have to walk a hot, rock and gravel road or through sticker burrs to get to it at all. There's no shade whatsoever anywhere at the park. Every time the dogs went out they got covered in sticker burrs no matter where they went. After spending an evening picking sticker burrs out of our dogs we decided to end our two night stay, after just one night, forfeiting our payment. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We stayed at Pontchartrain Landing for 5 days for the 2018 New Orleans Jazz Festival. The location was easy to get to from I-10 coming from the east, since we avoided towing our 5th wheel through downtown New Orleans traffic. Agree with other reviewers about the potholes on France Road approaching the site, but OK if you go slow, and not that different from the poor condition of many other streets in this city. Check-in was easy and efficient. The restaurant and bar, with live music almost every night, were big pluses for this resort. Pool and hot tub were clean. We were in site 122 near the entrance, and the internet signal was OK - too slow for streaming movies, but pretty reliable. For the $90/night price we paid, I would expect better. The roads and sites in the resort are all gravel, and a little dusty. Many of the palm trees looked dead. Not sure if this was because of earlier flooding in the area, or just lack of upkeep of the landscaping. Overall, I rate this campground 8; would be a 9 or 10 if not so pricey and the roads/pads were paved. I'd stay here again if I could get a better deal on the daily rate. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Fifth Wheel.

Pricing was based on the average cost, as we were there during Jazz Fest weekend. As stated by others getting to the campground can be rough as France Rd is horrible. Keep your eyes closed as you drive through the industrial area, and as you enter the grounds things are much better. We stayed on a buddy site with full hook ups, no issues with water or electric. Wi-Fi was a little slow, but I used a Verizon Hotspot with no issue. The gravel roads are dusty as it was dry. The staff here is fantastic. We were escorted to our site and everyone was friendly and helpful. The restaurant on premise had good food and live music a few nights. The shuttle to the French Quarter made it real convenient to explore the city. We will be back again. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We selected this RV park for a couple of nights stay in New Orleans. We stayed in town during past visits but this time, we were towing a 25ft trailer. We were told that we could stay without having to unhook. Not so. We had to park our trailer in the overflow lot. Not a problem and we had expert staff help guiding us to the spot. This park appears to be relatively new and undergoing constant upgrades. Do not get spooked by the approach to the park via France Rd which is leading you along industrial wasteland. The park is actually quite nice and has a restaurant onsite. There was a Newell rally in the park and I counted upwards of 20 Newell buses. The spacing is good and you are not sitting on top of your neighbor. They have a mix of pull-through, back-in and pull-in sites and most of them will easily accomodate a 40 footer. There is a large dog park, too. The park offers a shuttle @ $6/person into town at fixed times during the day. We took an Uber @ $15 on our time schedule. The ride to the FQ takes about 15-20 minutes. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Everybody visits the French Quarter when in New Orleans and you should, too. It is a funky place with lots of side walk entertainment, dive bars and great restaurants. Visiting the Garden District is highly recommend, too, to view old stately homes and interesting architecture. If you have the time, go and visit the Audubon Zoo.

As others have said, this is a good spot if you are visiting New Orleans. When it rains, it is a mass of small and large puddles. The road and neighborhood approaching the marine/campground is beyond description, not in a good way. The staff really try to provide good service. The pool needs maintenance and is not heated. The hot tub is above ground and is crowded with four people. Internet and Verizon service was passable, but WiFi did not work. Sites are close and without any trees or shrubs. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed two nights. We had a little difficulty finding the place. Far enough away from I-10 that there is no I-10 traffic noise, but there is airplane and train noise. Staff is business like and efficient. Easy to navigate a big rig in the park. The roads and sites are gravel. We had a pull in super site on the water. That was nice. Our site was level. The utilities worked well. The wifi signal was so weak at our site that we couldn't sign on. Verizon signal was okay. We had a problem with the cable and the staff responded right away. The cable has numerous channels that came in clearly. Unlike other campgrounds I've stayed at in the area, I felt safe here. The pull in water site was pricey. I would stay here again, but doubt that I will. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

We had no trouble finding this park after driving thru an industrial area on horrible roads which seemed like forever. We checked in and the staff was very nice, we were escorted to our site. The whole CG was gravel except for the small vegetation between sites. Turns were tight in the CG and sites were not spacious, but some vegetation for privacy. It was a large CG with full hookups and cable, but not great WiFi. The shuttle service into the French Quarter was $6/pp and we took the one that left at 10am and returned at 4pm. A great value as parking/driving in NOLA is not good. There was a restaurant on site and the menu looked good and tasted OK. I ordered a cup of Jambalaya which had about 1 bite of chicken and a very small bit of sausage. It was almost all rice. I also ordered pulled pork nachos, but there was no pulled pork on it and my husband ordered red beans and rice which was OK. The major complaint was the horrible service. They were not busy and we waited about 45 minutes for our meal which should have been an easy/quick serve. Another waitress broke a glass at the next table and left a 3.5" piece of curved glass pointing up in one of the chairs for a customer to sit on. Had I not told her about it someone could have easily sat on it We never went back for a second meal there. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

Super helpful staff and shuttle to French Quarter. Road to get to campground is rough. It's in the port surrounded by places that never returned after Katrina but the campground is nice. There was a mistake on our reservation and they went out of their way to accommodate us. The site we were in was designed for "buddy camping". One backs in and the other front in so the doors face each other and tables are between the rigs. Hookups will be in the right place. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

There aren't many choices of good campgrounds near the city, and the closer you get the more expensive places are. This campground is $96/night regular rate. Getting to the campground was interesting as the road is quite bad and the area is industrial. You will see the entrance past the marina. The spots are tight, Water pressure almost nil in the morning, the roads very dusty, WiFi not good, loud aircraft flying overhead. But the pluses are the staff, the convenient $6 round trip shuttle to the city (about 15 min), restaurant on the premises with live music, nice breeze from Lake Ponchatrain, and convenient Uber or taxi service that comes to the park. You can arrange various tours as well. We weren't that impressed with the restaurant but they had good live music. There are large groups that book this campground so make reservations far in advance. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Fifth Wheel.

The one really positive thing about this park is the staff. Each and every person we encountered was helpful, friendly, and doing their very best. However, the competence of the employees cannot make up for the deficiencies of the physical plant. As others have noted, the approach to the park, France Road, is a disaster...washed out, bumpy, full of pot holes, etc. We are originally from Minneapolis, so we know all about frost-heaved streets...but this road is ridiculous. The main roads in the park are hard-packed dirt with some gravel. It had been raining heavily the day we arrived, so the roads were basically mud. After a few days, they dried up...and it was like the Dust Bowl. The park is about 20 to 30 minutes from the french Quarter, and while there is a reasonably priced shuttle, the service is scant...leaves at 10 AM and 3:45 PM, picks up at 4 PM and 8 PM. Otherwise, drive you car into god-awful traffic and exorbitant parking fees or take a cab. The place is packed. There are numerous high-end rigs. They can command about $100/night; great to see...but from the consumer's perspective, this place is nowhere close to a good value. Their on-site restaurant is OK but service is very slow; they clearly need more wait staff. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

Not many parks in New Orleans, The road going in is awful as many others have stated. The WIFI is a joke, it only works when you are in the restaurant or sitting outside the office, for the prices they charge the WIFI should work through out the park. The Restaurant is very good and the service was great. Staff was great and they pick up your trash everyday. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

We stayed here 2 nights. The first night was in site 151 for about $70 and was unacceptable. Close site on unlevel gravel with a 2-3 foot dead palm. This entire semi circle was bad. I went to the office the next morning and for another $40 got a water view site that was level and pretty nice. You are paying for NOLA, otherwise this place is sub par. Road is as bad as everyone says. Shuttle to French Quarter was good. OK place to stay to visit NOLA but by no means a resort or campground. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

French Quarter great. I bicycled there and you had a choice of industrial roads with big trucks or sketchy neighborhoods. Risky ride for a bicyclist. Shuttled there the second time and that was fine.

Overall Rating:

This is a large park with over 150 sites, pull-throughs, back-ins and buddy sites. Along with cabins, villas and boathouses to rent. The road into the park has some large pot holes so go slow. Once in the park, the roads are wide and they grade them regularly. Check in was fast and friendly, they have a store with trinkets and basic needs. There is a restaurant on site, good food and good service. The park is well maintained and right on the canal.

Sites are a little narrow but there are palms planted in between each one that offer privacy. We were in Site 43, had full hook-ups with no issues on any, a picnic table and it was just long enough for our 37-foot Class A, tow dolly and parking the car. They pick up garbage at your site. The laundry room was clean but most of the machines didn't work. WiFi was weak and our Verizon signal was just okay. Lots of place to walk the dog and a fenced dog run. There is some plane and train noise but not bad. We stayed January 30 - February 6, 2018 and $48.00 a night with our Passport America discount. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

I'm very happy with my choice to stay Pontchartrain Landing during my visit to New Orleans. The park itself I would rate a 9, but the location I would rate a 6. They are located on a road with some abandoned shipping industrial sites. Getting to the French Quarter takes about 20 minutes. Staff is very helpful and take great pride in their RV park. Wi-fi was not very functional, but we had great cell service. Hookups were great and easy. I would stay here again. I did consider the other park in the French Quarter that costs a fortune, but after driving by that one, I am glad I picked the Pontchartrain. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.
