The space we were in was extremely tight and much too close to the other units. Site is grasslike ground cover but fairly level. Power pedestal had no breaker, sewer connection was at rear of space, they temp install a hard pipe to your sewer connection and all sewer connections are vented right there so there is a perpetual sewer odor. Water pressure was good. Laundry had 4 washers and 4 dryers, but 2 washers were broke and the table they expect you to use for folding was filthy. There was no place for dogs to be leash free. The park was close to fishing, it was fairly quiet, the owners were nice, but no way would I pay 50 bucks a day. - retiredmomof3

If you are coming to Venice to fish this is closest park - 12 minutes to Venice Marina. This park is very clean and well managed. Cement pads to park on and gravel roads. There is a dock at the back of the property you can fish from to catch reds, black drum, and speckled trout. Warning - with a trailer, as you leave to head north you have to go south to cut across the road and you will hit back of trailer on ground. - Saddle Tramp 65

Good access to beach. Very clean campground with sites well spaced out. Only complaint was that dogs are not allowed on the beach but not rally a fault of the park. Convenient to the town of Grand Isle. Nice to have pull through site in state park. - Vtwin996

We had some time and, on a whim, went to Grand Isle. We didn't know what to expect, so we were open to most anything. The drive there was spectacular -across bridges and long, sweeping causeways with hefty fishing boats tied up in the canals all along the way. We loved it. The State Park was wonderful. The sites are large and well maintained. There were few other campers there during our eight-night stay. There are some palms but this park sits on sand, so it's quite open. Access to the sandy beach is over a barrier dune. After that it's wide open. Numerous people are surf-casting-and catching Drum. There is also a long pier on the property, with an opportunity to fish there as well. There are a few local restaurants serving good seafood - nothing gourmet, but fun and friendly. The showers are immaculate. There is free laundry on site! There are no septic hook-ups, only a dump station. But, our camper can go 8-9 days without dumping, so we did that on the way out. This is one of the most memorable parks we stayed in during our three months on the road. It's out of the way, but this is one park we'll make the journey for. - Maine Divers

Keep in mind that it is a long ways out there. Also, keep in mind that there are some very slow speed limits and the little towns make a lot of revenue by strictly enforcing those limits. Finally, to get to the island, you will cross a bridge with a toll. For our motorhome towing a car, the toll was $9.25. (Free returning.) If you keep that in mind, it is actually a very pleasant and interesting drive down. The campground is comprised of three rows of pull-through sites in a row, a pleasant setting but not spectacular. Since there is no vegetation, there is no visual separation for privacy. None of the sites have actual views of the gulf. No trees, so getting DirecTV satellite is easy. Verizon data and voice signal were very strong. Our interaction with staff/volunteers was 50/50, some really nice, helpful and some not very interested. - TheJim

This is a gravel parking lot with hookups. First thing they told us was no using your onboard washing machine. Everyone has to use their laundry and no discount. There are 3 concrete slabs and we moved to one of these the second day. We would not stay here again. - BillH40
Dec 2016 - $35.00
We stayed here over the Christmas holiday. The owners that run the park are super nice. It is a smaller RV park with only 15 spaces that are really close together. Our site was on a concrete pad. The owners are eager to help you enjoy your stay whether that means to help you with your site or the local area. They do not offer cable and the internet did not work for us but you are at the beach and that is not what it is about. You are walking distance to the beach but beware..even in December, the mosquitoes will eat you up. - American Eagle 863
Apr 2016 - $23.00
Rate reflects 2 nights at Passport America. This RV park is very difficult to review. We are so happy we spent a few days in Grand Isle; we loved the vibe. We were 1/2 block from the beach and we were able to get all the fresh shrimp we wanted just going down to the boats at the docks. The staff were great and so friendly. They took us on a golf cart ride of the island, shared recipes and gave us some sight-seeing tips. But in the end the campground was a parking lot and the place was sort of ramshackle. Wi-Fi was slow but OK, but we were very close to the house/office. If the lot was full we would have been cramped as the sites are very close together, but it was off-season, so there were only a few other campers. - dalebonnie
