Quiet, adults only park that caters to those working in the area. They do not allow children & that is clearly stated on their website, along with reasons why. It's a no-frills park. There is wifi, but no cable, bathhouse, or laundry. OTA gave us plenty of tv viewing. Reasonably priced laundromats are within a couple of miles, as are Walmart, Home Depot, & grocery stores. There are quite a few delicious seafood restaurants within 20 miles (some closer), along with a variety of other restaurants, including fast food. There is a padlocked gate at the back, but park residents are given access to a key. You can walk up the hill to the levee path (paved) for many miles of walking, running, or biking. It also offers spectacular views of the sunrise & sunset. This is not a destination rv park. There is no shade. It is a nice, quiet spot to park your camper for the duration. Folks that live there are usually at work during the day. They're all friendly, but everyone pretty much stays to themselves. I'd give them 10 stars if they had a laundry on site. - hippichik

I loved staying there! We stayed there about 6 months while my husband was working and it was awesome! The owner is very sweet and will help you with anything you need. There is a neat pond right behind the lot and there are 2 restaurant's that are very good. They have a free boat launch and extra space to park trailers and or boats. I loved staying there and it was very quiet. - rambler33

Nothing good to say, really. Big rig access but no pull-throughs. What kind of sense does that make? Lot 48 was unlevel, smelled of animal feces. Only thing to see on cable was the ant race. The facilities were grungy & reeked of urine & molded scum! We will never attend that livestock adventure again! - Saucy family

I always like to judge a park for myself, but will never again ignore the reviews of other campers on this site. I have learned my lesson. I would give this park a MINUS 5 if the rating was available. We travel 10 months out of the year, have stayed in many RV parks (good and bad) but I can honestly say that this is the first park on our list we will never return to. There are multiple reasons but the main ones are the rudeness of the hosts. They were very condescending and treated us like we were criminals. The long check in process that includes every license plate on your rig (which is not a problem), but then they want everyone's driver license that is staying in the RV and make copies of them. That is an IDENTITY THEFT ALERT. They can trace you through license plate numbers. Your drivers license is not needed and provides to much info (ie. DOB), nor do you need the copies of your personal info to be floating around. After you complete this long process that includes the hostess "reading the rules to you", you are escorted to your assigned site (no,you don't get to look first). Then they tell you where to park on the site, so the sewer is UNDERNEATH, and watch you crawl under to hook it up. I highly recommend that you choose a truck stop or a parking lot before staying here. The other reviewers pegged it. - kandid61
Nov 2010 - $25.00
I agree with the post: "Absolutely the worst place I have ever stayed. I can't believe that people you give money to can be so rude." However I was able to use a credit card. And the receipt they gave me did have their name and number on it. The hookups for power and water are located at the rear and the sewer was kind of under my RV on the door side. And yes "The place is well kept but the rudeness over rides that as well." The noise of the trains all day and night, water and power going on and off. The owner/manager lied to me as well, stupid stuff but a liar is a liar! - JayOTR

Staff is very helpful, and hospitality from other campers was great as well. Safe and secure place with cameras was a top priority with my family staying there while I worked. Wifi works great. - Damian Bordelon
Mar 2011 - $25.00
I stayed here six weeks while working at Waterford-3 Nuclear Station. This park stays booked-up most of the time because of all the construction and clean-up activity around New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. It is a basic RV Park, not much in the way of amenities. Railroad tracks near the rear of the park are noisy. - 870xprs

This park is brand new. The laundry facilities were amazing and the oversized concrete pads were awesome. We were pleasantly surprised how nice everything was. The park owner was very nice and helpful in pointing us in the right direction for all of our needs. We will absolutely stay here in the future. - Danielle Shockley

Feb 2018 - $20.00
This is a no frills RV park, located right on the Mississippi River. We had a pull thru, which was long enough for our 40 ft 5th. and truck. The site was extremely close together, and our awning almost hit the rig next to us. the gravel roads needed work, and the landscaping (weeds) needed cut. The laundry had no coin machine, and there was no on site management. The entire transactions with this park were done by phone. - Humble
Jun 2017 - $41.00
We stayed here in a 44' RV. Very unique place to stay. Our site was in the driveway of the mansion with a private patio and view of the fountain. Very Nice! Staff was gracious and helpful. Easy drive to New Orleans and real close to several other plantations. - srrobe
May 2017 - $41.00
We stayed here three nights and was very pleased with the pull through site. The back ins are really close and would work for a big rig but would be difficult to back in. We were escorted to our site and helped get in. There are lot of long term residents that work on the river barges. We stayed here in a MH and would stay here again. Great place to stay when looking at the plantations, most are within 30 minutes. - Montie

Pretty decent park for visiting New Orleans and surrounding area. Wifi wasn't great had to sit out side to get good reception. Concrete pad was level and we had a picnic table. Services were in the right spot and cable worked great. Would stay here again. - Hihocarp
Mar 2018 - $45.00
Not as close to the excitement of New Orleans as we would prefer. Park is old and not very updated. We had internet issues too, disappointed us. Park is priced good for what you get. Park was loud with train traffic/noise. - Will Box
Dec 2017 - $55.00
Old park needs to be redone airport and railroad tracks very close very noisy sites are all back in no garbage pu have to carry it to the very back of the park. Not a destination campground for visiting New Orleans It is convenient shuttle in am pu in pm or they will take you in in pm and find your own way back drive in was very informative and the office staff are very friendly and informative. All sites are back I would stay here if I visited New Orleans again - janel323

Jun 2014 - $32.00
Owner has two parks on Rt. 44 along the river, Pouche and Sugar Hill. Pouche was full so I was directed to Sugar Hill. These two parks are about the only option if you want to tour the Plantations in the area. This park was a former FEMA park and is quite large. Wide open area with many folks living in their rigs full time. Many sites are grass and might be hard to back into due to narrow culverts over drainage ditches running full length of both roads. I ended up in a concrete pull through that I had to back into due to narrow drives. Utilities were fine and park was fairly neat. This is not a resort type park that you would want to stay in for a long period of time but worked fine for the plantation tours. Highway 44 parallels the river and is narrow and curvy. Good access to the one river bridge and Interstate 10. - Lynn Wagoner
Dec 2012 - $40.00
Sugar Hill RV Park, is a sister park to Poche Plantation & RV Park. It is located outside of Gonzales, which is basically in between the State's capital: Baton Rouge and the beautiful city of New Orleans. It is a neat, clean and very friendly park right along the Mississippi River. It is a definite stay if visiting in the area!! - Alice Henderson
