The value was great for this campground, which was why we chose it. We are a family of five, and this campground didn't charge the $5ish per person over 2 people that most campgrounds in the area charged. It was nothing fancy, but it suited our needs. This campground has a huge group of permanent residents in the summer and early fall, but most were clearing out when we arrived in October. The laundry facility needs updating. It is outside, and we had to search for the lights in the dark. The dryer ended up melting our clothing, and could have easily ended up in a fire. The owner said he would get them updated, but I would stay close to my laundry just in case. The owner was very friendly, and since he was getting ready to close down for the winter, he gave our children free ice cream bars and chips every day to clear out his store. This was a good, reasonably priced campground in an area with a lot to see and do. - RVerFamily
Jun 2014 - $36.00
Fire wood was delivered to our site promptly. The nearly level site was big enough to have a fire and not bother other campers. We used the site mainly as a place to sleep. Sites are gravel. The roads in this older campground are tight but well marked. Many of the sites are well maintained seasonal sites We had site 40 and the electric kept tripping our surge protector. Discussed this with the campground manager and he says that this problem and the addition of 50 amp sites will be added this fall/next spring. We have stayed there many times in the past and will stay next time we are in the area. - debandi12
Jun 2008 - $27.00
Small seasonal campground, with some weekend site available. - jedcad
Sep 2016 - $35.00
The campground is primarily a seasonal park with many activities for children but daily sites are available. We had a good back-in on sand. The place is heavily forested, making use of satellite dish impossible. There is no cable TV. Wifi was good. - Mtmoi
Aug 2016 - $73.00
Quiet time should be later on weekends~
Pool table needs a new cover~
Grill over fire ring would b nice~
More paper towel refills in ladies room~ - The Gorman Family
Jun 2016 - $22.00
This is a family oriented park. Many of the sites are seasonal, only used on weekends. The facilities, while aged, are well maintained. The internal road are dirt and gravel with many trees. Sites could use grading and leveling. They have many activities on weekends. The road into the park is dirt and might be an issue if rainy. Very good free Wi-Fi. - A hitch and hop
Jul 2016 - $28.00
First time staying overnight at campground. Stayed for 10 days, very enjoyable. Friendly owners, others campers and had great weather. - Catt
Sep 2008 - $38.00
This is an old campground. Bad access road: dirt and lots of pot holes. Lots of trees make for some tight turns. Many seasonals here and sites were not all well cared for. They have a list of activities in season and a playground. If you stay, be sure to specify what type of service you want, otherwise you will be charged for the maximum for the site - ie, a 50/30 amp site will be charged at the 50 amp rate whether you are using 50 or not. The manager is not pleasant to deal with if there is a misunderstanding. The laundry had not been cleaned in awhile. We would not stay here again. - User469
Sep 2017 - $35.00
Stayed four nites in Class A, along with 2 other RV'ers. Full hook-up. My site, had to maneuver to hook up water and sewer. Friends had no problem. 15 minutes from Freeport, home of LL BEAN. Nice town, lots of places. LL Bean has 3 or 4 stores including an outlet store. The outlet is located across street, along with the other normal outlet stores. After Bar Harbor, will return for a few more days. Very nice and helpful people. - Long Island Mac
Aug 2017 - $60.00
Very enjoyable stay in Maine. Relatively central location. Secluded. We stayed along the tree line, which I preferred to the pull-through sites in the middle. Firewood was available at the camp store. We had visitors that required a nominal charge for entry. I would stay there again. - Pawpaw and Grammie
Jun 2017 - $47.00
Rustic park but we had a huge level site with lots of space around us. Utilities worked well, even Wifi. Nice person checking us in. Lots of green space. Quiet where we were. - padre
Sep 2016 - $38.00
We stayed here four days. We had a pullthru that was very easy to set up. Campground is very rustic with wifi and electric and sewer connections There is no cable tv. Mostly long term residents here, but a beautiful woodsy setting. Would camp here again if ever in the area. - Trucker 2
Nov 2015 - $35.00
Only park we could find in Maine that was open for business in November. Very old and rustic which isn't automatically unfavorable to us, but the sites and vegetation were neglected and it was hard to maneuver into the back-in site. The roads are dirt and in poor condition. Utilities were adequate and in good condition. Nightly rate should have included electric (per their website), but the meter was read in order to charge at check-out. Meter ended up being broken and we were made to feel like we were suspected of sabotage.
This could be a nice little campground at a reasonable price (relative to other Maine parks). I suspect the new owners will continue to make improvements but their customer service is starting off on the wrong track. - Full-Time Roamers
Jul 2012 - $10.00
Beautiful park! Great trails. Excellent for simple camping! See the beauty of Maine particularly in the summer! - jnlo
Oct 2011 - $19.00
Very friendly staff. New private showers and dish washing station. Great access to Freeport and Portland area, hiking in park. Nice place to stay. - travlintj
Apr 2010 - $19.00
This campground is very nice for what it is, a primitive non-hookup campground. They note that they cannot accommodate RVs over 35 feet and that is true. We are 27 feet long and had no problems. We stayed in site 22. If you look on their website you will see that they show sites that can handle larger RV's. It should also be noted that they do not have an RV dump, so come with empty tanks. The CG is wooded with nice spacing between sites. There is a road close by with some traffic but it calms down at night and is not a problem. There are some nice hiking trails in the park and park staff are very friendly. They also open much earlier in the season that other state or private parks. We would stay here again. - TheJim
Jun 2017 - $23.00
This is a very quiet park in the forest. The entry road referenced in previous postings is improved. Poland Range Road leading to the park is a public 1.1 mile road of hard-packed dirt with a 35 mph speed limit. I drove 15-20 mph and quickly reached the campground. Sites are level and shady. Each has a trash can with lid and a picnic table. The workkamper couple is very helpful and welcoming. Free WiFi signal was strong. Verizon signal was good. - SunStar203
Aug 2016 - $50.00
We chose this campground because of the reviews and location. However, to reach this out of the way campground you must drive 1 mile on a dirt road which has not be graded in months! It took us over 30 minutes to cover that 1 mile. No where on their website does it state these road conditions and we were appalled. The camper next to us called the office immediately when he saw the road as he had a 5th wheel with a motorcycle in the toy hauler.
90% of the campground were permanent residents who kept their sites in deplorable condition. STAY AWAY! - Carolina Ventana
Jul 2016 - $48.00
This campground is about 4 ½ miles from the center of Freeport. While the campground is fine I will not return here for this simple reason. There is 1 mile of washboard rough, dirt/gravel road you must traverse in order to get here. We were here for 5 nights. During the week it was very quiet. The driveways are gravel and the site pads are grass, sand and very fine gravel. When it gets wet it sticks to everything. We had to leave our shoes outside, otherwise we would have brought massive amounts of this grit into our motorhome. The bathroom is reasonably clean, however, they do not provide either soap or towels for hand washing. I can't understand that. There is free WiFi that we were able to use since we were parked very close to the office. It worked well. We paid $47.50 for a 30amp full hook up, back in site. - Coopsecondact
Jul 2010 - $33.00
We spent the better part of two and a half months at this park and have been very happy with our stay here. We plan to return next spring for another extended stay. - Grumbag
Aug 2016 - $51.00
Campground is on Crescent Lake, which is a beautiful lake and very clean. Kayaking was superb with plenty to see. The seasonal campers recommended several sights on the lake to visit.
Campsites are among pine trees and are very close together. Roads are all dirt but are treated with some sort of petroleum mixture, without an odor, several times a week to keep down dust. Cable hookups are all new and provided excellent viewing. Wi-Fi was poor and a source of frustration trying to receive a signal.
Check-in was quick and easy, the management was very helpful. All the staff was friendly and provided good service. The only other problem were the pine trees leaking sap onto the car and trailer. But if I didn't want pine trees, then I should stay out of Maine. So you got to take the bad with the good.
Swimming was good, the beach was excellent. There were plenty of activities for the kids. There was several locations with laundry washers and dryers. However, the floors were very dirty and needed a good cleaning.
We stayed for a week. - Nautilus
Jul 2016 - $60.00
This is a family campground (lots of kids, lots of tents). Hookups are funky, have extra hose and electric cord. Quiet hour isn't until 11:00 pm, meaning radios go until then. It was the only place we found with vacancy. We needed electric for A/C, as weather was hot and humid. - User3119
Jul 2016 - $51.00
We returned here for a 9 night stay. We moved sites after the first weekend which was a planned move to get closer to the lake. We like it here but there are a couple things that could improve. First the good, the lake was great and very clean. The pontoon rentals are nice, the staff is great, the snack bar and pizza is excellent. The beach was nice and the other campers were very friendly. The issues, some of the utilities need to be fixed or improved. The 30 amp plugs are cracked, the cable connects do not all work, the sewer can back up. My son went in the bathroom and said it was a mess, I did not see it but he used the trailer the rest of his stay. The speed of cars was a concern, 5 mph is posed but many drive 20 and possible 30. We reported this as there are a lot of kids around.
All in all we really enjoyed our week. We found the campground to be very quiet most nights and loved our time on the beach and swimming/floating in the lake. We will return. - Happy Camper X2
Jul 2016 - $45.00
Reminded me of a state park with full hook ups. The entrance is literally at the end of a (3) mile long gravel road where it dead ends, so don't be alarmed. We had one of about 10 pull throughs close to the entrance and it was ok. Extensively treed, so-so water pressure, no wifi period, iffy cell service. Had to ask the check in people several questions after we checked in and their responses were less than helpful. Most likely won't stay again if in the area. - jc2
Aug 2015 - $27.00
Rustic campground in the woods! Great for a weekend, week, or more. Campground is clean and well maintained. Facilities are constantly being improved. Sites are level--no concrete slabs but as I said they are level! Plenty of things to do for everyone! - Mcpowder
Jul 2004 - $30.00
If you like a rustic campground, you will love this place. It is very wooded and some of the roads are a bit rough, but very passable. We have always had the same water site each time we have been there, as we and the dog, can go swimming just steps away from the camper door. Larger rigs may have a hard time with some of the corners, so be sure to be aware of that. According to their web site, their new pull-thru sites are now available. - dylansmom
