This is a large, and relatively open campground. Some water views, beach is rocky so no real swimming in our area. All amenities worked fine. Their only shortcoming is that many sites are far from level and I saw many units that even with blocks were at quite an angle. A food truck on site had great Clam Chowder and Lobster rolls. What a treat! We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The food truck on site was quite good, however after eating lobster rolls up and down the coast for a week, the sauteed in butter lobster roll at Travelin' Lobster (just down the road) was in my opinion the best we had on our entire trip. Would go back just for that!

This park has a great location. Great water views and access. We spent 18 days here in two different spots. We were 9 days in site 346 and then site 358 which was across the road. 346 is right on the water with unobstructed view of the bay. It is adjacent to the public access to the water. The public access was not too big of an issue for the most part. Some have not been trained in campground etiquette. 358 is a corner site with good view of the bay. Large site with lots of room. The only issue is it is quite unlevel. We never were able to get our coach leveled satisfactorily even with blocks. It is also satellite challenged. But it is a lovely site. These sites do not have sewer, but the park provides a great pump out service. Very reasonable and timely. The staff is great and the park is extremely well maintained. The trash cans are emptied on a continuous basis. We would stay here again. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

Great access to all of the Mt. Desert Island/Bar Harbor sites including Acadia National Park, Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Bass Harbor. Acadia National Park is spectacular. The Lobster Pounds are a hoot. Ellsworth which is about 10 miles away has a Super Walmart, Home Depot and super markets.

One of the larger KOAs we've stayed in, this location is close to Acadia, on the water. Our site had zero trees, however, it was close to the ocean. The sites seemed packed together but overall was easy to navigate the campground for parking our 21' TT with one slide. Would stay here again when in the area! We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Travel Trailer.

There is a shuttle that will take you around the area (not a KOA shuttle) that makes multiple stops. We did not use but it seemed to be fairly straightforward.

Stayed here three nights in an oceanside spot. It was the best camping spot I have ever had. The ocean is right out side your door - really amazing. The spots not on the ocean were small but you are still close to the water. I don't think there is a spot without a view of the water. It is expensive but was worth it to us. Overall Rating:

This campground is indeed what I would call a resort, and naturally the price is a little higher than many, especially on season. Both my wife and I agree however, that it is well worth it. After spending a week dry camping in a national park campground, we really felt like we were "glamping" here at KOA. We stayed four days in a dead level gravel site with a lovely view of the narrows. All the utilites (water and electric) worked very well. With the aid of my booster, the WiFi was acceptable and the campground says they're in the process of making big improvements. Verizon signal was marginal but useable unlike in most areas of Mt. Desert Island. The park features great play areas for kids and a really nice dog park. Everywhere we've been up here has been extremely dog friendly. There are lobster and BBQ dinners available every night. Haven't tried it, but it looks to be quite popular. Pumpout service is available if you're staying for awhile in a W&E site. Laundry, showers and a nice clean bath house also provided. The large staff here were all very friendly and accomodating. All in all we had a great time here, and we will surely return. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Too many things to do in this area to list. Shuttle service available at the camp office to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Hiking trails and bicycle carriage roads in Acadia are wonderful. You should definitely take advantage of them. Absolutely beautiful area.

We stayed here last year and discovered you can renew your same site every year before leaving and then potentially change it to a different site come Nov 1. We were able to upgrade our site to water front which was very important to us. It is expensive and crowded if you aren't at the right spot. Lots of mosquitos, so bring your bug spray. Staff is excellent! No sewer is available near the water due to EPA regulations, so it's an extra $15 to have your tanks emptied. I love the proximity to Acadia National Park. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Stop at Tracey's restaurant on the way to Schoodic peninsula for lobster rolls. 2 for $12! 4 ounces of lobster vs 5 at other places that charge $20 for one. The Thirsty Whale on Cottage St has a great haddock BLT for $10.

Our first visit. Staff very friendly and helpful. $97.44 per night was a little over the top, but the view was excellent. Other campers were very friendly and out going. Site was grass, so leveling was somewhat of a problem. Lots of children around, but all were considerate. We were lucky to get two nights, but being right on the bay paid for it. Would recommend this KOA to everyone. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

Very pricey but overall a nicer KOA. Utilities worked well and bathrooms were clean. A $35. site but $90. in Acadia National Park area. Lots of kids and kid activities. We paid a premium for FHU but would probably do lesser site next time and save a lot of money. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

It's Acadia National Park so you could spend the whole summer there. Many hikes, biking on the carriage trails, boat trips, lighthouse or whale watching, sailboats, lots of lobstah, beautiful sunsets, scenic drives etc. etc. Bar Harbor can be a zoo with so many tourists but still worth a day visit to walk along the shore, do some retail therapy and have lunch/dinner.

You're paying for location plus amenities for kids. This is a very busy campground. Nevertheless, it is a lovely setting right by the ocean. Far north end of Mount Desert Island, so convenient to both Bar Harbor to the south and big-box shopping to the north. We were in site 131, a pull through. Was open and sunny - no shade, but still only got 2 of 3 western arc Dish satellites since those satellites are low in the sky and the trees between our site and the ocean blocked one of the satellites. Nice patio with fire ring with built in grill, plus barbecue and table. Site was level enough, and long enough for MH and toad. However, exiting was too tight to hook up at site, so had to do that near dump station. WiFi, cable, and water pressure were all good. Nice dog park. On site outdoor lobster restaurant was pretty good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful - definitely some of the nicest RV park people we've ever met. Mosquitoes were kinda bad - but repellent works well enough for that. Since we are retired and don't have kids, we might opt for a more adult-oriented campground next time. If you have kids, they will love this place. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

Top of Cadillac Mountain is breathtaking. Bass Harbor lighthouse is awesome. Loved the shops in Bar Harbor. Smokeys is good, but the Travelin Lobster is better if you don't mind dining outdoors.

Beautiful seaside views, but we were packed in on a grass site with only water and electric for $77. And the views were great if you had a site on the water, otherwise, you don't really have a view. Full hook up sites are in a bare field, although they have some very nice sites in other areas of the campground. Staff was exceptionally nice, good location. We were just very disappointed in how close together the sites were. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

The staff is quite friendly and works hard. The sites are very very VERY close. It was very busy also. There is no privacy. The redeeming quality of this campground is certainly the location and view. Our site was water and electric only. The reason I gave the value a "2" is because, for the price, there should be a little more offered. For example, the "honey wagon" should be free and not $15. The WiFi should be accessible more than just at the store/main building area. The pool was not working for our entire week there. I understand that these things happen but more could have been done to address this. After five days, staff suggested we could use Smuggler's Den campground and they would reimburse us the fee. This was fine but we should have been told this right away. Also, it was quite a drive for a pool. It requires planning with the rest of the family for timing etc. We should have been comped a night or offered a discount of some sort. They did not deliver the amenities for which we paid. The staff was very nice, but my quibble is with the business practices. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Smokey's is a great place to eat. It is toward Ellsworth just a bit. The KOA store may have a 10% off coupon. It is great food (BBQ and seafood) and run by three young men that are working hard. They have a great story.

We loved this park. A great location, beautiful views. The staff was very friendly always working. Camp shop sold beer and wine. They serve lobster dinners every night, sometimes with live music. The bath house was very clean, decent pressure, hot water. The electric was perfect. Water pressure at the site was low due to a drought and they informed us of this in advance. Wi-fi horrible. We loved staying here, and actually added an extra night. Would highly recommend, we camped in a 33'5th wheel. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Site 207 was "uphill", there was a flat spot were we parked the camper. We had excellent views of the water from our site, however the site itself was limited due to the "hill". We picked the views over the site topography.

A little piece of heaven in the East Corner of the USA. Have to say that I could live there, it is beautiful and so much to see and do around it. Lobster cooked every day at the park or you can go to the local places which are just out of the front entrance and it was superb, and don't leave Maine until you have had a Lobster Roll sandwich, OH MY! I cannot tell you how delicious these are! We had our first one on Martha's Vineyard and all it takes is ONE and you are hooked for life! We had Lobster Roll's in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and New York and we will continue to love this Eastern United States Treat from now on! It is difficult to rate this campground. The office is difficult to find (especially at night ) and closes early. The actual entrance to the campground is about a quarter mile down a county road from the office, The sites are small, difficult to back in to, and hard to level. The restrooms and laundry are modern and clean. Having said all that, the views from the ocean side campsites are spectacular! Because of that, we will stay here again.
