The staff was extremely helpful and the spaces were level. Even though we didn't have a pull through site, we had plenty of room to drop our trailer and park our RV in the same site. We were able to walk to the beach (more of a boat launch) but the walk back is all up hill. You can get a lobster dinner for 2 delivered from a place right across the street. We camped at Hadley's Point Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bar Harbor is a bit commercial but the island itself is absolutely amazing!!! If you go to the bottom tip of the island you will find Thurstan's Lobster Pound and it is decently priced and you can sit on the water's edge and enjoy the beautiful scenery along with your meal. The ride through Acadia National Park is gorgeous. We will be making this trip again.

Our back-in, grass site was nice and level. It's a bit tight, but they help you get backed in so it wasn't an issue. They have a honey wagon service that you can schedule to come by and dump your black and gray tanks. Our boys took full advantage of the pool.

Would have been an excellent deal, for where we were, if we had full hookups. Verizon service worked well, but Sprint did not. We camped at Hadley's Point Campground in a Motorhome.

Be sure to visit the Happy Clam Shack. Better prices than across the street and very nice people.

We were with a group of 3 others and reserved last year and got one of the few 50 amp sites. (There are only sixteen 50 amp sites.) But, most RV Parks in this area don't have many 50 amp sites. Our site was about 45" deep and wide enough to park the car beside the motorhome. The electricity was excellent and did not drop below 118 volts with all 3 A/C units on and the hot water heater running, when we initially set up. There was good water pressure and water flow.

The owner and the workers were all very friendly. The current owner has had the park for 6 years and made a number of improvements. They have 16 new cabins with heat and air, a small bathroom and a covered porch. The swimming pool is well maintained. The free, Island Express, a bus, runs through the park every 30 minutes. You can go to the National Park visitor center and transfer to other buses or go to downtown Bar Harbor. There was very good Verizon 4G service, 14 Mbps. They also have free WiFi.

CONS: I docked the park due to the lack of sewers at the 50 amp sites, (A2-A17), $12 for "honey wagon" service if needed, the lack of cable tv and the fact that most sites are not satellite friendly. We were gone most of each day, but I do like to be able to view some news and financial channels at breakfast. You can get 2 or 3 stations from Bangor, Maine, 35 air miles away, at some of the sites. Potential, satellite friendly sites would be A1, A28-30 and A25-26, Also A2-9, if the dome was at the very front of the RV.

OVERALL: I would not hesitate to return to this campground and I would recommend it to others. They do have 15, 30 amp sites with sewer and 7 of those are pull thru sites. We camped at Hadley's Point Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Food is expensive at night, as in $14 for a hamburger, if the restaurant you choose offers sandwiches at night. Downtown, you can pay $14 for a burger at lunch.

Our best dining was at The Chart Room on Hwy 3, about 2 miles north of downtown Bar Harbor for Lunch. Meals were available for under $10 and tables were available with a view of the harbor. Their fries were fresh cut and not frozen. Once you cross over to the island, there are no places like McDonald's or Burger King.

Great campsite close to Acadia National Park. The only negative is their internet is weak but they state that on their website and check in. It is strong right next to the office/pool/laundry.

We stayed here 5 nights and while visiting Acadia National Park. So close. Very friendly workers and people in the office. The sell post cards AND stamps and mail them right there too. The Island bus stops in the camp ground to take you all over the Island. We didn't use it but many people did.

A very nice campground. I would stay here again! We camped at Hadley's Point Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Really nice place and very friendly and helpful staff at the office. Had a really nice site. The only issue was the bathrooms were so tight between the toilet and door you had to squeeze between the two. The doors do not come out far enough. Fine if you are a child, but not an adult. I would change that for sure. Also, need the toilet cover seats so you don't have to use tons of toilet paper to cover the toilet. Also, the pool was supposed to be heated as promised, but the water was freezing. We camped at Hadley's Point Campground in a Tent Trailer.

Overall this was a great campground. We opted for a water/electric site for 3 nights and paid for honeywagon service on the day before we left. Restrooms here were very nice & clean. They have several bathrooms ( no showers) throughout the campground. Didn't end up using the showers, but they seemed to be very clean & private, just not as convenient to our site. Laundry rooms was nice. Washer was expensive, but saved on the dryer as we could fit two loads into one dryer and it dried everything very quickly. Our biggest complaint was that the signage of "No trailers past this point" was a little too far back. We got ourselves into a tight spot that was stressful getting out of - more our fault, but if the sign had been better placed maybe avoidable. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Hadley's Point Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Loop B was very nicely spaced and wooded behind each site. Enough to make you feel like you were in the woods without getting too many pine needles on the camper. The A loop was mostly just a grassy strip with sites extremely close together - did not look inviting.

We spent 6 nights here and loved it. It's very convenient to Acadia National Park, and the island's free shuttle bus stops here as well. The campground is clean and well kept up. The pool and restrooms were clean. The staff were very friendly. The sites are spacious, and there are lots of choices between shady or sunny sites. Ours was nice and shady. The sites are gravel pads with grass, and fire ring, and a picnic table. The only downsides for us were that you have to pay for showers (which we didn't use), and the washing machines are very expensive. We'd stay here again. We camped at Hadley's Point Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Acadia National Park is just a few minutes away and a must do. If you have time, drive over to the Schoodic Peninsula side of Acadia NP. It's about an hour's drive, but it's beautiful and very peaceful. Bar Harbor is close by and very dog friendly. The island's free shuttle bus is great and allows dogs on the bus. We would not recommend whale watching in June or earlier; it's too early in the season to make it worth paying the money the whale watch company charges. That was very disappointing.

We were originally sent to the smallest site in the park, a storm was coming in so after on night we asked to move out of the swamp and were allowed to move to the field in site D55, the park was wide open I don't understand how sites are assigned sometimes. C,D and S loops were very well maintained. B loop not so much, we started in Site B30. We camped at Hadley's Point Campground in a Motorhome.

Facility has all gravel and dirt spaces that are very tight and narrow roads. Most sights are in a field with no sewers and are not level. There is a free bus to Bar Harbor. Did not stay at other parks so I can not compare any parks. No sewers and "honey wagon" charge was $12.00 each time . Showers 50 cents for 7 minutes. Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is based on a weekly rate, 30amp with daily Honey Wagon service. We stayed here for the first 2 weeks in August. The park is very deep. The front part (A row where we stayed) is across from the pool and directly across the street from a row of tent sites that backed up to the pool. Roads were paved, wide enough. Sites are in the grass and pretty level for the most part. Not much room between sites and no shade. Park staff very helpful. We were a little concerned that our site location did not have sewers, they have one area that does - the coveted S row. But they showed up every morning to empty our tanks, no personal involvement necessary.

A Row things that drove us nuts: 1. Wifi: AT&T does not serve this area of Maine well so our cell and digital signal via phones, were 1 bar 4G IF lucky. They do offer wifi, and the signal was strong, but not reliable. I have a Verizon mifi and that worked great, 3 bars 4G. 2. We backed up to a line of tall trees and thick bush which killed any change of getting all but 2 channels on our digital antenna. I do not have satellite so cannot speak to the southern sky reception. 3. Lots of families at this park (summer break) and the pool was almost always hopping with loud, screaming kids. Plus they have a diving board, so we got to hear the bounce of that things for 2 weeks straight! 4. The free bus service loops through the A row and drove right by our rig every 30 minutes, sometimes every 10 to 15 minutes, starting at 8:30 a.m. til 10-ish each night, 7 days a week.

While in Bar Harbor we saw other RV parks and would look into those for the reasons stated above before staying here again. Not a bad place, just a bad personal experience. My advice, do not let them put you in the A row! We camped at Hadley's Point Campground in a Motorhome.

This is an updated and extremely well maintained campground...I'm told this is the 3rd generation of the family to own and manage it. Many sites are in woods, or border woods. Campground security is constant, and mobile. I dinged the park a little for their weak WiFi at outer campsites, though it's strong near the office and available at a table in the laundry. I certainly would return. We camped at Hadley's Point Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. There is free shuttle bus service from the office. This is a nice family campground, although we do not travel with children we enjoy watching them play. We were in D section, which has campsites around the perimeter and a row in the centre. We were in the center area, site D-51. Our site was not as level as it should be, but our friends on D-50 had a level site. Although the office calls them camping in the field, in our opinion they are some of the best sites in the park. There is a large playing field in that area, and good space for children to ride bikes, play ball, and so on. 30A service and water, but no sewer. The park has a honey wagon service, but they also have a free dump station which we used. WiFi was good, but did not reach to our site, so we sat near the pool to pick it up. Very pleasant. The staff was exceptional, giving us hints on where to eat, things not to miss, etc. They keep the sites very clean, going to a site minutes after the occupants have checked out and putting the picnic table back out of the way to make it easier for the next campers to park, mowing if necessary etc. Fire rings are available if you want them. We were there at high season and park was kept full. Very convenient to visit Bar Harbor and the park by the free bus. Although there are no water view sites, we were busy enough that it didn't matter. We would return. We camped at Hadley's Point Campground in a Motorhome.

This was our second stay here. Our site was a level graveled back in shaded site. It was spacious with plenty of room. We had electric and water but no sewer, however we did have the honeywagon come by one of our days. The wifi did not work at our site but worked wonderfully by the office and in the laundry room. The showers were always clean but were metered and you had to pay 50 cents for what seemed like more than 7 minutes. The island explorer bus service is wonderful to use for getting around Bar Harbor and Acadia. We will stay here again. We camped at Hadley's Point Campground in a Travel Trailer.
