My wife & I stayed here for 8 nights in our 35 ft 5th wheel that we hauled from north FL. Stay 7 nights & get the 8Th night free. We stayed at a pull through 2-way site with a view of the water. The front office staff were very nice & helpful. This is a big Park with lots of various options on what site you can stay at. Some of the sites are quite expensive, but our was fine. We really enjoyed our stay. A great place to enjoy Mt. Desert Island/Acadia NP from. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a large park on Rt. 3 about 5 miles from Acadia. It is an Encore park and accepts Passport America which made the stay much more affordable that neighboring parks. There are all sorts of hook-up options in various combinations. I stayed in a water & electric site with little shade. It was a grass site that overlooked a beautiful bay. My site required multiple leveling blocks as it sloped side-to-side. The site had a fire ring and picnic table. Some sites were totally shaded, graveled, appeared level and had full-hook-ups. Interior roads are paved or gravel.

The swimming pool water was nasty my entire stay of six days, thus the 2 stars for cleanliness. The laundry was clean and the sites/fire pits were picked up. The free wife had multiple wireless connection points. The free Bar Harbor shuttle bus stopped at the park. It was surprising to see a car slowly navigating the park in the early evening selling homemade pies. It was soon followed by an ice cream truck. My rate doesn't reflect the actual rate I paid since I had a mixture of PPA and low & high season rates. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Oct in Maine, beautiful scenery, right on the water. 2nd day you get a discount.
Level lots, leaking water on several lots.
Had cable tv but I had to jury rig the cable and fitting to use it, the office didn't have a fitting so I used my work experience to get it working.
Bar Harbor and Arcadia National Park are beautiful. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Truck Camper.

Park is located just as you get onto Mount Desert Island. Good location for all sites on the island: Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, etc.

Sites were easy to get into, services well located. Park is well laid out and easy to navigate.

Not having sewer maybe an issue for long stay. We were only 3 nights & dump station was easy to access on the way out. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

But the pictures of the playground were obviously taken ages ago because it was old and broken down looking. Laundry facility was ok but 2.50 per wash and 2 to dry seemed pricey and 3/6 washers were out of order. Shower was awful. Not much hot water and essentially no shower head on shower. Camp sites were nice and level but not much room to park your vehicle. Over all not a bad place but over priced for what you get. Saw a few other campgrounds and they seemed nicer. Would stay elsewhere next visit. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This was the most expensive place we have camped in many years around North America. It was by no means special. The roads were in poor shape and the sites small. It was very over priced. It was a great place to stay years ago. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We only stayed 2 nights but will definitely return. We had a nice view of the ocean from our site (356). The cable and free wifi worked very well.

For short stays: there is a dump station. Some sites are FHU but ours was water/elec/cable only, no sewer. Power was good. No issues. Ranged from 118-123 on my Digital meter over 2 days. We were here under Thousand Trails choice vacation (free stay for us).

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD WATER FILTER! We had been in places not needing any filter, so our cartridge was out. The water here has very high iron content and came in very rust colored!! I installed our water entrance filter cartridge and that took care of it, cleared it up ok.

Some of the roads and turns into sites are a bit tight so be careful when maneuvering. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is just as you enter Mount Desert Island, a mile or two in on the left on Rt 3. It is very handy to Bar Harbor and everything in Acadia National park.

Cadillac Mountain is a must, especially for a sunrise or sunset.

Best shopping is back in Ellsworth where there's a Walmart and all the other necessities. Also, hit Helen's restaurant in Ellsworth for great seafood and wonderful deserts!

Deer Isle/Stonington is about 90 minutes away and worth a day trip.

We were able to get mail delivered here, and received a call from the office when our package arrived. Staff is friendly and helpful. The office/store has a nice selection of gifts and menus from nearby restaurants. Our pull through spot was level and had some shade. Unfortunately the rocks around our site and the road necessitated us backing out instead of pulling right out. We are a bit long (43') so this is understandable. Water pressure was fair. We had a full hookup, although this campground has many more sites without sewer than with. Dump site can snarl traffic around checkout time. Pump out service is also available. This park also charged a $4.00/day "resort fee". Good location for visiting Acadia NP and Bar Harbor. Can't speak to cleanliness of restrooms, showers and laundry as we did not use. We did notice that fire pits were not cleaned out when campers left, so new arrivals get whatever was there before. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

We were very disappointed with Narrows. The sites were unclean with debris and small garabage remnents. All the roads were gravel and dirt which created dust and noise as campers drove through the campground. There were NO garabage cans at the sites. (The dumpster was so far from the campsite, that people deposited their trash in the bathrooms.)

No sewer connection, and a charge to use the dump station. We paid for 5 nights and left after 3. Far too expensive for what we received in amenities. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

We liked our stay here...stayed a week. Sites vary from 30 amp no sewer to 50 amp with sewer plus tent sites. Sites on the water do not have sewer. Our 50 amp, FHU site was a pull-thru, however not enough room to leave the toad attached. Site was gravel/dirt and was level. Our site had no shade, but there are shaded sites. Lots of space to walk the dog and nice views of water. Most sites are fairly close, however we never had a neighbor on our curb side, which was nice. WiFi was excellent as was cable. Friendly, efficient check-in. Good Verizon cell service. There's a free shuttle bus that drives the island to transport you to Bar Harbor, Acadia NP, and points between. IGA grocery store not far in Trenton. We would stay here again. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

We had a site that was very near to the dump station so we would occasionally smell the odor. Site was mostly level with a mix of dirt and gravel. The roads were dirt so there was a lot of dust created when cars drove by. The campground is on the water but there is no beach, many people were out digging for clams at low tide. The pool is near the store and is small for the size of the campground. Laundry room had 5 washers of which 2 were out of order and 6 dryers. They have canoes and kayaks available to rent. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Bathrooms and showers are cleaned daily. Trolley service gave easy access to Bar Harbor, where parking is a challenge due to the volume of traffic. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We have enjoyed our trip very much! We still have a couple days here and want to move down by the water just because the site are bigger. The showers are amazing!! All 4 of us were able to shower and still had plenty of hot water! Very clean!!

Lady who works in the office is very sweet. Groundskeeper was able to assist us with an issue we were having with our camper. Thank you very much!!! We are having a great time!

There are some pretty site's. So take a ride around the park if your not satisfied with what you picked, if there are other sites available they let us move. We loved it! We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Although they did tell us that we had a lake view, there were just too many bushes for us to exactly view the water. It was a great place to be able to take my dog on a good walk in the morning. I wouldn't go in the swimming pool as it wasn't very clean. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bar Harbour is a cute little town that has lots of good restaurants and shopping, but very touristy and crowded when we were there. The best thing we did was go on a glider plane. That was definitely worth the money and something I was always remember!!
