Third time to visit this facility. Have loved it here but this time it was extremely noisy. The constant mowing and watering plants with a loud machine made it impossible to think or relax. For some reason they have converted there tank pump out machine to a watering device. Was walking our dog on an adjacent field and was reprimanded, even though there were many people doing the same thing with their dogs even after I was spoken to. When I asked the individual if they were done making noise he got infuriated and told me to talk to the manager. I walked away thinking just let it drop. He sought out the manager and brought him to my site. I figured We had 4 or 5 more days to stay here so just let the manager say his piece and just let it go. I felt the site was overpriced as it was on a significant slant and difficult to level the motor home. Although we had enjoyed staying here in the past we did not feel welcomed and will not visit again. On the positive side they have excellent WiFi and great cable. We camped at Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Great views from most of the sites in the park. We were on a lower waterfront site and on winter rates (before June 15) we asked about a monthly rate, and we were stunned at the $3,000 monthly rate! We have been traveling for 3 months and this is the priciest park we have been in. Roads are gravel, one way, and some sites very difficult to back into (backing uphill) Very strict pet policies. Try walking your dog from your site to the pet area (100 yards) and tell them they have to "hold it" until you get there! We camped at Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Belfast is quaint, and has many artsy type stores. Movie theater is wonderful for a small town! Hannaford groceries (beautiful store) about 3 miles south. Sams Club in Augusta and Bangor. Acadia National Park, about an hours drive. You can drive to the top of Cadillac Mountain and see where the sun first hits the USA every morning!!

Let me start by saying there is definitely a view as you are right on the water at least in the lower, more expensive, sites. And to get that view the entry is tight, the roads are tight, the sites are tight, and there is barely any room for your toad or tow truck for a trailer or 5th on your site. The pads are somewhat level but the "living area" between the sites is rough, uneven, and has unusual extra sewer connections that end up being right in the middle of your sitting area????? They have a one way road system that they don't use but expect you to, we had to come in the wrong way, but the only way in and out doesn't necessarily align with their one way roads. For us being large, it was a bit of a challenge getting to our site, we were escorted and it looks like it will be even more of a challenge getting out. For this money, this campground needs to be a lot nicer. The people are friendly and helpful, and I realize the site the entire campground is on is challenging, but for this much money? They did not have many campers there when we were there, maybe there is a reason. We camped at Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The staff is excellent, the park is clean and well kept in all area's and I was truly amazed at how friendly and helpful they were. We were escorted to our site, helped with the positioning of our trailer on site. Very Pet Friendly, which was nice as we were traveling with our dog for the first time and did not know what to expect. The pets were allowed on the beach which is quite large at low tide and you can find sea glass and other treasures. The views even from our site were just amazing and can't wait to go back again for it was a quiet, friendly campground with a staff that made you feel right at home. They had a list for wood delivery to be delivered the next day to your site if needed. They had a fire ring at every site, cable, a horseshoe pit, swings for the children and a separate pet area. Just can't say enough good things about the Moorings, you just need to go there. We camped at Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We went to Young's Lobster Pound up the road about 3 minutes away. It is an eat in, carry out or buy fresh Lobster Pound. We bought fresh, cooked our own and it was easy on the wallet. Check out the Maine Lobster Feast in Rockland, ME., it is a great time and not that far away.

The premium sites ($91.56/day) overlooking the water are set up to favor fifth wheels and trailers. When you drive your motorhome into the site to face the water, the power post and water outlet are positioned at the front of your rig and on the wrong side. Fifth wheels and trailers backing in on your right side means you'll be sharing the campsite between the two units and it's possible that you may have less than half. Your booking deposit and balance MUST be paid prior to arrival with NO refunds. The office staff are very pleasant and accommodating and the grounds are well maintained. Beautiful area, lots to see along Rt.1 We camped at Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Sites are pretty tight, roads are narrow and if someone parks a big vehicle across from your site, you might not get it, Roads are dirt, uneven with a few nice pot holes. The road is one way so you have to drive through the whole park if you are parked in the smaller number spaces. The spaces are not long enough for your tow vehicle and the rv so we had to park next door. We camped at Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Most of the review of this campground are accurate. Nothing fancy. Gravel roads and campsites. Only a few sites with full hook ups. While not what we would call a resort, it is what I expected. Had we not needed to stay near Belfast to visit my daughter, we never would have stayed here to begin with. If you are looking for a campground near Belfast, this is the best one. The price is simply too expensive for what they offer. We camped at Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort in a Motorhome.

My family and I stayed at The Moorings over Memorial Day weekend. The small sign by the road is no indication of the hidden gem just out of sight. The RV park has just 44 sites- great if you're not interested in a crowded park. Even though it is a smaller place, it is situated on a hill overlooking the water; so even if you don't park right next to the beach you still have a lovely view! We were invited by one of the super friendly staff to the ice cream social that they held on Sunday afternoon, which was as sweet as it sounded (I mean, free Gifford's ice cream and Maine maple syrup; what's not to love?!) The other families who were there at the park were very friendly and respectful, mostly older couples, and a few families with kids. The beaches mostly pebbles, and although there was seaweed and it wasn't a good day for swimming, it was a gorgeous view. When the tide was out, you could walk quite a ways, and the was a seal that was just bobbing out in the water and few hundred feet off shore (close enough to get a few good pictures with a decent camera). Overall, the whole experience was incredibly sweet and low key. We would definitely stay there again if we were traveling through!! We camped at Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This campground was showing some end of season wear. Interior road was gravel and big rig access was fair. Our gravel level site was adequate, we pulled in to the back in site to get a wonderful view of the ocean and beach, this meant that the utilities 30amp plus water were on the wrong side, but no big deal. If you have a motor home choose the back in water front sites as the pull throughs will not afford you a view of the water through your windshield. The campground was very quiet with no road noise at all, no privacy between sites, there were a few shade trees but it did not interfere with satellite reception. We had space for our towed, a picnic table and fire ring. The bathrooms were clean and the laundry had a couple of washers and dryers. As other reviewers have mentioned it was not overly pet friendly, however there were doggie bags and a disposal station. WiFi and cell were good. Food stores, restaurants are close by in Belfast, and plenty of wonderful sightseeing up and down the coast. It's all about the view and we would stay here again. We camped at Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This small campground's prime asset is its location. It is right on the water with a private beach. We had an electric & water site with a water view. We had a gorgeous view of the water out of the front of our RV. The site was level. The site was of adequate size but I wouldn't call it spacious. We were only steps away from the access to the beach. The owners were friendly and helpful as were the other guests at the park. We were there during the Perseid Meteor Shower and had great views of the sky.

The only slightly negative item I would have is that they are very strict on your pets. There is only one small area behind the office where you are allowed to walk your dogs to do their business. As long as owners of pets clean up after their pets I do not see the need for this restriction. Maybe they have had issues in the past with owners that did not clean up their pets waste.

Even with the concern above, we would definitely return to this campground whenever we travel to Maine in the future. We camped at Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This "RV Resort" was the most costly of the campgrounds we stayed at during our two week tour of Maine's sea coast.

The camping area had very few trees. Most sites had an ocean view but space on most sites was limited. Our site (#40) had a sewer connection in addition to water and electric. Only 4 of the sites at this campground had sewer connections, the balance had pump out service available in addition to the standard dump station.

This campground sits on a hillside running down from US Highway 1 to the shoreline. There are steps to allow access to the beach area. Excellent area for site seeing and Acadia National Park a short drive away. We camped at Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Maine's mid-coast seashore, Acadia National Park and the very crowded Bar Harbor area...a tourist magnet.

Maine is all about LOBSTERS and lobster pounds are everywhere. You can buy them live fresh off the boats and cooked for takeout or eat-in...the choice is yours. Lobster rolls can be had everywhere from $7..99 to $15.00 each...many road side stands feature this Maine staple @ 2 for $15. We consumed way too many over our two week stay in Maine.

Happy Campers!

This is a small campground right on the bay in Belfast. There are some sites looking over the Bay and we stayed on one for one night in the Fall. Beautiful views and you can walk out when the tide goes out. Sites have full hookups or just water and electric, but they are close together and not much shade but views are all worth it. There are a number of seasonals here and they said the new manager this year has been doing a great job upgrading the campground. There is a restaurant on the grounds and the food was very good. Restrooms and laundry room were clean. It is expensive - in the off season (fall) we paid $64.80 a night. Easy drive to Acadia National Park from here. We enjoyed our stay and the beautiful sunrise in the morning. The reviews have been very good for this park and that is why we tried it. Seasonals are very friendly and have great ideas on what to do. Check-in was friendly and quick. Nice place on a hill but worth the views! We camped at Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We have been staying at the Moorings since 2003, missing only one year. For the past few years we have been seasonals. It is under new ownership in 2014 and the forecasts are favorable. We have been RVing for 50 years and motorhoming for 39, and this is our all time favorite spot. The location of the Moorings is its primary claim to fame. You can park (for a slight premium) right on the shore of Penobscot Bay in midcoast Maine. Most of the sites have only 30 amps and a bi-weekly "honey wagon" to handle the sewer, but that's a small price to pay for such a lovely park. There is a fine restaurant on-site. The park slopes toward the ocean offering everyone a wonderful view. The Belfast area offers a wide assortment of activities and excellent food. Wow, what a nice little gem of a park. Very small but the view is amazing! Very quiet, older crowd in mostly motor homes. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Minimal playground equipment for kids. Would have given a 10 but the Wi-Fi was practically worthless. So slow. Traveled 500+ (nervous) miles to get here but was worth it. First time staying here but will try to return. Had the lobster pizza (yup, lobster pizza!) at the restaurant at park property - fantastic!
