This was our first time in Maine. Shore Hills Campground is located just off ME-27. Easy to get to and easy to get in and out. Central enough to visit a lot of locations and most are less than an hour away. The area for the big rigs is large and most sites are flat. Each site has a picnic table, all seem to be very sturdy, there is a fire ring and trash can at each site. They come around and pick it up for you. There is not a lot of room between sites on the pull thrus. Looks like more distance between sites in the back ins. Some of the back in spot have a small wooden patio that seem very nice. The WiFi is open and not secure, but it is a good signal and we were able to use it all week with no problems. The boat ride to Monhegan Island is a must. The Island is beautiful. Hike to the lighthouse then to Whitehead. The view is unbelievable. I would recommend Shore Hills to anyone. The area is very nice and the park is well maintained. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lovely park. Staff (all experienced campers) could not be more helpful or friendly. Easy access for the largest motor coaches. Sites are mostly level and large and you have a choice of shade or sun. Good 50 amp service, great water pressure, dependable Wi-Fi and great cable TV service. Bathrooms and laundry facilities are always spotless. Camp is conveniently located for exploring all of coastal Maine. Shore Hills also offers a shuttle service to and from Boothbay Harbor which is invaluable due to the parking issues in town. We enjoyed our stay so much we expect to come back for the whole season next year. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Endless dining opportunities nearby. You can even walk from the camp to the best place to buy fresh lobster. Recommend the boat excursion from Boothbay Harbor out to Monhegan Island which has the highest oceanfront cliffs in Maine. Spectacular! The clam bake on Cabbage Island is also a must.

A nice park to hang out, about a ten minute drive north of Boothbay Harbor. All of the class A's & large 5th wheels are directed to the north section of the park with very spacious back-ins & pull-thrus. Mgt. is very nice and accomodating. The area is beautiful with lots of places to go & see & I have to say a lot less crowded/busy than the Bar Harbor area. Would stay here again. All utilities were good, except wifi was a little sketchy from time to time. Nice park, but maybe a little pricey for the value. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park was excellent. We stayed 4 nights on site 121 while attending a wedding nearby. The staff was super helpful and incredibly friendly and accommodating. The lots were clean and very well cared for with a trash receptacle at every site so we didn't have to lug trash to a dumpster. Hookups were in good shape, electrical was great. Site was pretty level (gravel). We were in a pull through area but walked the CG a few times and enjoyed walking out onto the island which was very secluded and quiet and we watched Ospreys catching fish and blue heron feeding. The Wifi was excellent at our site. Site 121 was nice as most of the pull throughs were completely in the open, but that site has morning sun, but shaded by a row of trees in the afternoon. The pull throughs have a decent lawn area but are closer than most of the back ins, but not so close you can pass a cup of sugar from your slideout to a neighbor like some CG's. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Boothbay Harbor is a beautiful and quaint Maine coastal town. Have a meal at the "Boathouse" downtown and sit on the open deck on 3rd floor and enjoy the harbor view while enjoying their peach sangria. Lots of interesting shops to visit down town Boothbay Harbor. The Botanical Gardens are also not to be missed! Whale watch tours are available. Take a ride south to Southport Island for some kodak moments too.

In the Boothbay area, there are few choices. We looked at Shore Hills in 2015 and placed a deposit for 6 weeks in June-July 2016. That worked well and we settled into the site we'd reserved. This review pertains only to the "big rig" area near the office & pond.

Overall, a nice campground. Summertime in Maine = premium prices. The (back-in) site was very deep (50'-55') & had a green strip next to it about 10' wide for the length of the site. Included a picnic table and a fire ring. The site itself wasn't close to level. Had to put blocks under the front wheels and stabilizer. For as long as this campground has been here I expected a level site.

Wi-Fi is available sometimes. 02:00 is a good time to use it otherwise it varies from slow to "oops, the signal went away again." To be fair, they've attempted to provide coverage for a large area and have three separate SSIDs to select. No security on any of them. It's been up and down so many times I don't even count on it being available. If it's just occassional emails and such, no problem. Turn your device on and let it run.

There are only two bath / restroom / laundry facilities here. Again, timing is everything.

The office staff is, uh, so-so. We had issues with UPS deliveries to the office with NO resolution. On the wrong end of an identity theft crisis we were working with our bank to have documents and checks overnighted. UPS did their job, got the signatures and left the pkgs. The office? Well, they swear they never received anything although UPS has their signature as proof of delivery. It's now Tuesday and they were delivered Fri afternoon. "Not me" is the only response. However, they're VERY quick to patrol the campground and warn, people if they violate any rules.

Point is: the office & staff are integral to the camping experience. Shore Hills' office left us wanting. Already picked another park for next year. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots to see and do in the region. Of course, the main attraction is Boothbay Harbor but eventually you'll want to branch out and explore the entire area.

TripAdvisor ratings of the restaurants are very good & you should trust them.

We stay at Shore Hills campground with 2 other members of our Maine Good Sam Club chapter. We stayed there the weekend of June 24th-26th and we had site 41 and our fellow members had sites 40 & 39 (a double site). The campground is beautiful with waterfront views at some sites. Our site was plenty big enough for our 19' travel trailer and pickup truck tow vehicle (our fellow members also had travel trailers under 22' on their sites with plenty of room).

Our site had nice gravel with a wood deck, (while our fellow members did not have the wood decks because it was a double site). The water, electric & sewer hookups were nice and easy to hook up to. The site was wooded with a stream behind them (it was almost totally dried up during our visit due to a lack of rainy weather). The sites all had their own trash can out along the road that was picked up, so it did not have to get taken to a central dumpster.

If you like a scenic site definitely consider a Riverside/waterfront site. A little extra cost but a great view, especially out on the peninsula (if you have a small camper and only need water and 30 Amp electric).

We had our 2 dogs with us on the trip and we all enjoyed walking around the campground and seeing the views at the waterfront sites. (Listed as Riverside on website's campground map.)

On Saturday night that had a local band playing in the campgrounds hall. They were OK. We had a great time staying here and would like to do it again someday, maybe for longer than just a weekend. The staff was friendly and liked to talk when we went up to the office. I would definitely recommend this campground to others. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Take the campground's shuttle bus into downtown Boothbay and visit the stores and restaurants. It is well worth it with plenty to see and do.

Drive out to the Maine Aquarium in Boothbay which is small but cool since it had a touch tank and shark touch tank as well as many other cool tanks with North Atlantic fish/aquatic life.

Park was gated, had a wooded section and a more open section with pull thrus for big rigs. Cable & Wifi worked fine. We were in a back in site in the open area the site was short and hard to back into because of the trash cans and little room to maneuver, since the area was full of big rigs with trailers. We didn't know about being in the rally area beforehand! The group was fine until it came the morning they started leaving at 4 A.M.!! and the Rig Cleaning Crew started power washing around 7 A.M. Try sleeping through that :( We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a fairly large campground. We stayed in the area with 50 amp service and full hook-ups. This area is an open area with lots of sun, although we chose a back-in site that had trees behind us and provided afternoon shade. The site was level and of adequate size. Other parts of the campground are wooded but many of the sites would be difficult for big rigs. Most of the big rigs I saw were in our area.

The campground is about 10 minutes from Boothbay Harbor and all the activities, shops, and restaurants that it provides. The campground is a great choice for this part of the Maine Coast. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

A visit to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, which is 8 min away, is a must! The gardens are fantastic!

Also, would highly recommend the Cabbage Island Clambakes. You get a short boat cruise to their island and then a great dinner with massive quantities of food. Very enjoyable. We did the evening cruise that they do on weekends.

This campground is set on a hillside, with a beautiful water view at the bottom of the hill and a babbling brook going down the south side of the park. These sites in the wooded hillside are for 30 amp or less and smaller rigs. We needed full hookups and 50 amp so we were in in the open field close to the highway. Noise from the highway was not too objectionable since the pond has a fountain that mostly disguises the road traffic noise. The park is well maintained with paved and hard gravel roads. The sites are level and also gravel. Most seem free from overhanging branches. Some of the turns are a little tight but with care and calculating are fine. The camp is only 3 miles to town and they have a shuttle. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
