Overall Rating:

We stayed seven nights at Shore Hills in a 40' motorhome. The park is incredibly spacious and well laid out. Lots of areas for hikes within the park including their island to the tidal river. We stayed in the 50 amp section with full utilities including cable with over 60 channels. There are individual trash cans at each site. Lots of distance between sites on the side and in back. We really enjoyed walking through the park with our dogs looking the various sections of the park. The folks in the office are great to work with and the park is spotless. Wifi was not useable most of the time which is disappointing because they had a number of different access points. We were able to hotspot off both ATT and Verizon phones. The only complaint was we were present at the same time of a Liberty Coach rally during which a detail service was busy for the first 4 days power washing the participating coaches. It was loud and constant. The rally participants were all extremely nice and seemed to be having a blast. Would definitely return to this park with the caveat of finding out if they are hosting another rally at the time, as they have several each season. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Our site was in the wooded section. The fully wooded spaces are wider there and afforded more privacy than the big rig area. Paved roads. Very nice. Good dog walking CG even has a trail onto a very small island. Showers cost a quarter per five minutes. Trash cans conveniently located at every site. We would return. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a surprisingly nice campground. The campground is older but the owners keep it spotless! My kids enjoyed playing on the small older playground. We had a pull through, full hookup site which was out in the open and the sites were very close to the next. It was all large motor homes in these sites except for us! There are much nicer, shaded sites under trees but they are only water and electric. I used the laundry room here and it was very clean. No change machine, so you will have to get quarters from the camp store. They offer good Sam and AAA discount. Only a handful of seasonal sand they were removed from the rest of the campground. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very close to Boothbay Harbor and many other things to do in the area. The best restaurant on our 12 days in Maine was Robinson's Wharf in nearby Southport! You can watch the lobster men haul their catch right to the restaurant! The fried haddock sandwich was the best fish sandwich I ever had!

Camped in Big Rig section in pull-thru site. Very long sites with plenty of space for any size motorhome and car. Our site had a really nice raised wooden patio with table which was great for sitting out. Roads were very nicely paved and sites were mostly level. Only problem was the WiFi. Never worked well the entire week at any time of day. The water pressure was weak, but was fine with the water pump turned on to supplement it in the coach. The roads inside the Big Rig section were wide and easy to navigate, but the exit from the park was very tight. Overall the park was great and would definitely return. Boothbay Railway Village located almost across the street has an amazing antique car collection. Puffin Nature Cruise on Cap'n Fish's Pink Lady II was great. Blue Moon Café on the Boothbay Harbor waterfront had awesome blueberry pie! Went back a second time just to get the pie. Mine Oyster Raw Bar and Gathering Place has amazing oysters and clams, raw and steamed!

We were in the shaded area of the park which was great. Nice space between sites. The bathrooms are old but clean. One shower by the office and two showers by the tent sites. Beautiful marsh sites too. Ladies at the desk were rather grumpy, maybe when we stayed they were having a bad week. We were lucky to have a FHU site. This is a lovely park with large, shaded sites, at least in the 30 amp area. The 50 amp area is open and the sites are not quite as wide, but they are long. You can stay near the river but there is no sewer there. The people that work here are very nice and helpful. It's hilly here so if you're walking up the hill they will ask if you need a lift. The laundry rooms (there are two small ones) are very nice. It's $1.50 for the washer and a $1.50 for a 5o minute dryer. Both washers and dryers are on the new side and look well kept. Note: we had a monthly rate. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pretty nice campground, convenient to Boothbay Harbor. Services worked well except wifi that was off one full day. Bathrooms were clean but very small stalls. My knees hit the door while using toilet. Site was sunny and open with a nice wooden patio and picnic table. Also I was able to get satellite tv. They also have cable too. We used this site as home base to explore the area. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Like others confirm, this CG has a nice old time feel to it. Mostly because it is. We would stay here again, partly because it was nice and convenient and partly because there aren't many choices near Boothbay. We couldn't get our 43-foot MH level on site 124 but the owners moved us to 120 which was excellent and even had a new concrete patio. We did see several back in sites that were not level and occupants had to use wood or pads to level. The sites are fairly close together but have trashcans at each end. Water, electric and sewer were just fine. You can only pay by check or cash and when you call, you will be told to mail a deposit check of $50. We were told our reservation will be held until the check arrives. Once they received the check, they emailed us a confirmation. There is $10 deposit for gate card. Bath houses are old but clean. Didn't use but saw there was a fee for shower. Cable was excellent, the wifi was good and our AT&T service was too. A staff member continuously rides through the campground on a golf cart. Got the impression he is a "monitor" of activity, open spaces and any potential rule breakers. We did get a note on our MH for exceeding the 10 MPH speed limit one day, but that kind of added to the charm. The "upper sites" are pretty wide open from trees for good satellite reception, plenty long, but the sites closest to the road definitely have noise as it is the only direct route in and out of Boothbay. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

"Shannon's Unshelled" is terrific little Lobster Roll shack adjacent the public parking lot in Boothbay. Shannon & her Mom make a roll that is as good or better than Red's in Wiscasset, which you will see on your way to Boothbay, along with their typical hour long wait line. Also, the Wicked Woopie Pie store is a unique Maine treat. Try the oatmeal ones! Pemaquid Point Lighthouse is about 45 minutes north and one of the very few you can actually go in and climb to the steps to the top.

Shore Hills is a very nice campground with good big rig access. This is the second time we have stayed in the Booth Bay area and we found this campground well situated for points east of Wiscasset. If you go west on a regular basis you can get caught up in traffic going into Wiscasset. We stayed in the section closer to the road but found very little noise from the highway at night. There are a number of sites with a raised deck and picnic table. We parked a little too close to the deck as I thought it would be convenient to step out right onto the deck. What I did not allow for was the slide, which ended up taking close to a third of the deck space. The utilities are well located and there is a garbage bin on each site. Our site was a pull through with plenty of room for a tow. Did not really use the wifi as we use an ATT hot spot which worked well. This area is satellite friendly but we ended up using the cable which is very good. Had an initial problem with the cable connection as it was missing the male end. A visit to the office immediately rectified the problem. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

As mentioned this campground is well suited for visits east of Wiscasset. Besides Booth Bay try Owl's Head where there is a great Classic Car and Aeronautical Museum and a nice restaurant called the Pearl for lunch in Rockland. There is also Camden which is well worth the hour's drive. Damariscotta is a nice town for lunch on your way to or back from Pemaquid Point Lighthouse.

Price goes with the territory. As with many businesses, this is also cash or check only. Sites at the top accommodate large rigs. the reminder are along a road down the hill to the shore where there are some premium waterfront sites. A dedicated tent area is close to the water. There are 2 coin-op washer dryer buildings, but cold water only. The sites are well spaced and easy to access. A couple are set up for small groups. All services worked well and the cable TV was better than most. Most appeared to need only minimal leveling. Each had a trash can and the trash was picked up daily. You will need a gate card to come and go ($10 refundable deposit). We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The village at Boothbay Harbor is why most come here. The campground offers a shuttle for those who don't want to drive and find parking. A railroad village is just down the road from the campground, historic displays and a narrow gauge ride. Steam whistles can be heard in the campground during the day.

Stayed two nights. Part of this campground is gorgeous. Wooded sites with decent separation between sites and some vegetation between the sites. Unfortunately, we weren't in that part. We had a full hookup pull through. That section is near the road with no trees or vegetation. The utilities were well placed and worked well except thd sewer connection wasn't threaded. I never saw so many cable channels and they all came in clear. The wifi was hit and miss. We were at the end near the road do we did have some road noise. I would stay again, but I would consider 30 amp so I could be in thd pretty section. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a nice gated campground with gravel roads and pads. There are 2 sections: a lower section with many trees, and an upper section with wide open pull-through and back-in sites around a circle. We first had PT 119 with a patio, table, and fire pit. We then moved to back-in 146 which might be the best site in the campground. It has a very large grassy area, a table, and fire pit. There are individual trash cans at each site, and workers pick up the trash several times a day. We got good satellite reception, and the wifi and other utilities worked well. We will definitely stay in this campground in the future. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.
