6 Parks near Canaan, Maine
May 2016 - $47.00
We stayed here the weekend of May 20th-22nd with our Western Mountain RV'ers chapter of the Maine Good Sam Club with 2 other members. The campground was pretty empty the weekend we stayed, because it was before Memorial Day and the pool was not open yet. The campground was quiet when we were here due to the lack of campers. There also was not much entertainment/activities due to it being prior to the "official" start of camping season (Memorial Day weekend).
My wife and another chapter member loved the hot tub even though it was small and oddly located. The outdoor pavilion needed better lighting and something added to it such as a movie screen or something of that nature to make it usable for entertainment.
The sites we had were 30/50 Amp full hookup pull thru sites. The sites were either dirt with a lot of roots from the large White Pine trees or large sized rock/gravel sites which were tripping/ankle twisting dangers. The sites were partly shaded from the large White Pine trees around the sites.
The dog park was OK but it was small and the fence did not go all the way to the ground so the ball kept going under it. The walking/hiking trails were not marked and were actually also ATV trails. The store was small and we did not use any of the bathroom/shower facilities. The staff was OK but not overly friendly.
We did go into downtown Skowhegan on Saturday of our stay (about a 10-15 min drive) to go to the breakfast buffet at Ken's Restaurant and some of our members went shopping in Skowhegan and to the 10 mile yard sale that was going on that weekend.
We would stay here again but probably try it during the prime season time between Memorial Day & Labor Day. - HappyCamperMaine04938
Jul 2014 - $45.00
This park is over rated! We had difficulty getting down to where our site was and there was absolutely no way we could pull through due to trees although we had booked a pull through site well in advance, giving the details of our unit. The campground has a PA system that they use instead of walkie talkies to call staff to escort to sites as well as announce events...very annoying, especially on a busy weekend. We would not stay here again. - Keewatin Kids
Jul 2014 - $44.00
We stayed in a pull thru site F1 full hook up, site was nice and level. Staff escorted to our site, and made sure to show locations of hookups. Was unable to use outdoor rug, for fear of trip hazard due to large roots from tree on the site. Campground was VERY clean, and staff were extremely friendly! I would recommend this campground to anyone looking to stay in the Skowhegan/Canaan area. - SJEAGLES609
Aug 2016 - $36.00
Very nice RV Park. Utilities were good, WIFI good, laundry clean, sites level. They also have kayaks/paddleboats available to check out at no cost. There are lots of seasonal campers who mainly occupy on the weekends. The park is nicely landscaped and all sites are kept very clean. Owners are very friendly. My only complaint is the road noise is very loud. We sleep with a fan for white noise, but the noise level was still high. Truckers tend to use their jake brakes often. Would stay here again if in the area. - jacknpeg
Jul 2015 - $40.00
A small campground with a mix of transient and seasonal campers. The grounds are very neatly kept. Our site was level and spacious, but a little sunnier that we would like. We have a fairly big rig (40 ft) and wanted 50 amp service so that limited our site selection. The campground is on the Wesserunsett Steam just as it enters the Kennebec River and is very scenic. There is a nice pool and access to the rivers. The owners are friendly and available if you needed anything. - Randy & Sharon
Jul 2015 - $36.00
Big rig friendly with level sites. Cable and wi-fi was good. Water pressure was good in camper and showers. One shower room was big and hot water. Washers and dryers were good. No activities in the campground. No dog park. Rained one day and we had flood outside our door. Walmart and a New Balance outlet store were in Skowhegan. - Fulltimersrv

They are changing over to a Yogi Bear franchise, seem to be making improvements to the sites and roads. Very shady campground, located right outside of town on a main road (stores w/I a few minutes drive). Our site was in the back row, had 2 neighbors several sites away for the first night but after that we were alone, so very private. Though the other campers seemed very aloof and unfriendly, they drove around in gas powered golf carts and no "hi", no waving. The sites are being leveled, though we almost slide off a ledge of gravel and this was our first big scare w/the camper in our 3rd yr of camping. The cable boxes are in the woods every 3 sites, so had to go out an buy 100 ft cable. The pool is huge, we didn't partake in the daily activities as we were out the 2 days there so can't comment on them. Our kids liked biking around and the huge fish in the feeding ponds, can't call it a "fishing pond". The small store was fine, kids liked the arcade.
We saw very little employees, or if they were employees they never introduced themselves or checked on us. The young girl in the office was sweet, but knew nothing about area or the campground its self, and had no means of finding us information. Asked about nearby fishing at the 20 lakes in a 30 mile radius, she knew nothing. Finally a local gave us directions to a hidden boat launch nearby w/a little beach, was perfect for kids to caught small pumpkin fish and pikes. An older lady at the desk was more helpful but only saw her the last day. The location is good, the KOA is so far out of town would not consider that. Maybe in a few years will try here again. - K S
Jul 2009 - $28.00
The campground is located on a fairly busy highway 2 miles north of Skowhegan. Convenient to Wal-Mart and other shops and restaurants. Highway traffic noise varied from bad to non-existent. The sites are either grass, gravel, or dirt. Most spaces are large and at irregular angles and tend to be well shaded in heavy woods. Some sites are in the open. We camped five nights in a 50 amp full hookup site. Power boxes throughout the park appear to be brand new. Water pressure was the best we've had in a while. The Wi-Fi worked great. The bathrooms were older but clean and in good condition. The Passport America discount lowered our cost to $28 a night. This is a family CG with lots of kids, campfires, and activity around the pool. - whizbang
Sep 2016 - $40.00
We stayed in B3 over Labor Day. What a wonderful campground setting vs RV park. Level sites, plenty of space,
Great fire pits with grassy spots. I would come again for a week. The golf course was discounted. We had full hook ups with satellite. WIFI came and went but it was better than most RV parks ( we are on month four of our travels). - HayNan
Aug 2016 - $17.00
Found this to be a peaceful setting. We were not in the full hook up sites though, and did not have internet. We were overlooking the golf course and had satellite reception at spot 13. It was nice walking our dog around. We were in the woods, but not heavily so. Our site was level, we had water and electric, fire pit and a table. Plenty of room between sights. They also had a little restaurant where you could get breakfast or lunch for reasonable rates. - dorcol
Aug 2016 - $17.00
We stayed for two days and loved it. The lots are large and clean, they pick up the garbage at your site, and the office workers are wonderful and very helpful. Grateful for finding this spot, very quiet, dog friendly, beautiful place. Wifi worked at site, full hook ups. The only thing I did not like was the road needed work: bumpy. - Sabrina421960
Aug 2016 - $25.00
A very nice park. Judging by the amount of decks, sheds, etc. I'd estimated that 90% of the park is seasonal. Showers are .25 for 7.5 minutes or .10 for 2.5 minutes. I found the water pressure terrible. They are also very small and cramped. Laundry is reasonable at 1.25/wash and 1.00/dry. Firewood is 5.00 for a wheelbarrow full and paper and kindling is free. Great staff and a nice quiet location. - MSSW
Aug 2009 - $24.00
If you enjoy small quiet campgrounds and your equipment is not too big, you will like this park. It is clean, well maintained and has easy lake access for water craft. The back-in sites are on the lakeside and the pull-thru sites are across the road from them. Just be sure to check if the site is level enough for your rig before registering since there are not many sites and some are not very level. They have Wi-Fi at the library (beside the pull-thru sites) and a large number of books for exchange. - JTD2
Aug 2009 - $26.00
Just an overnight stay, nice quiet park, well maintained, friendly fellow campers, pull-through site, 2 way, no complaints. - crackerssouth
Jun 2016 - $35.00
All hookups worked fine. We were thankful for the cable since our satellite tv didn't work. The park could use a little extra TLC as it has a run down tired look. The bathrooms needed cleaning. There were cob webs that needed to be brushed away from last year and a coat of paint wouldn't hurt. Our GPS registered a 42% downgrade coming into the park. For some reason, they kept blocking the road as you entered (probably to stop people coming in too fast). A fox then a skunk lived (or died?) under the office making it smell so bad the managers couldn't even work there. The laundry room had two of four dryers broken and only two washers. They worked well but were also housed in the stinky office building. - Melodycthomas
Aug 2015 - $33.00
Stayed here just one night on our way from Massachusetts to Bar Harbor. Challenging, steep roads to the park led to fairly flat camping. Nice lake, nice playground, mostly seasonal campers - nice folks. Our golden retriever enjoyed a swim while we enjoyed a beautiful sunset. - Upstater
Aug 2014 - $38.00
This is a great campground. I didn't give it the max because of the ancient and somewhat dilapidated state of restrooms and showers. Would definitely stay again. We called an hour away and arrived at about 6:30 PM. They gave us a choice of waterfront and other sites (waterfront sites do not have septic). Lots of local/seasonal folks, all very friendly. Overlooked beautiful Webber Pond (good-sized lake). Lots of kids, local people in small groups , but everything was dead quiet by 10 PM. Rental boats, marked swimming area. $5.00 got us a load of firewood delivered that we almost couldn't use up by 11 PM. Looked like they had a bonfire set up for Saturday night (we were there on Friday). - Casper2011
