We just stayed one night on our way through the park had just opened. Friendly staff. We had a pull through that was plenty long. Cable and WiFi worked fine. Looks to be very family friendly. We did not check out any of the amenities except the dog park. It was clean and bigger than most we've seen. About a quarter of the sites are designated "seasonal". But the sites were well kept. We would stay again. We camped at Skowhegan / Kennebec Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

We were impressed with the park. The folks running the park were extremely friendly and helpful. The park was very clean and well kept. There are elements of the park that are quite aged but overall facilities are very well kept and park is clean, orderly, and was pleasant to visit. The store was well stocked and the prices were reasonable. We would not hesitate to visit again. We camped at Skowhegan / Kennebec Valley KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The mining setup for gems was pretty cool. Bags were not too expensive and had lots of gems in them. Kids really enjoyed this activity.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here the weekend of May 20th-22nd with our Western Mountain RV'ers chapter of the Maine Good Sam Club with 2 other members. The campground was pretty empty the weekend we stayed, because it was before Memorial Day and the pool was not open yet. The campground was quiet when we were here due to the lack of campers. There also was not much entertainment/activities due to it being prior to the "official" start of camping season (Memorial Day weekend).

My wife and another chapter member loved the hot tub even though it was small and oddly located. The outdoor pavilion needed better lighting and something added to it such as a movie screen or something of that nature to make it usable for entertainment.

The sites we had were 30/50 Amp full hookup pull thru sites. The sites were either dirt with a lot of roots from the large White Pine trees or large sized rock/gravel sites which were tripping/ankle twisting dangers. The sites were partly shaded from the large White Pine trees around the sites.

The dog park was OK but it was small and the fence did not go all the way to the ground so the ball kept going under it. The walking/hiking trails were not marked and were actually also ATV trails. The store was small and we did not use any of the bathroom/shower facilities. The staff was OK but not overly friendly.

We did go into downtown Skowhegan on Saturday of our stay (about a 10-15 min drive) to go to the breakfast buffet at Ken's Restaurant and some of our members went shopping in Skowhegan and to the 10 mile yard sale that was going on that weekend.

We would stay here again but probably try it during the prime season time between Memorial Day & Labor Day. We camped at Skowhegan / Kennebec Valley KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This park is over rated! We had difficulty getting down to where our site was and there was absolutely no way we could pull through due to trees although we had booked a pull through site well in advance, giving the details of our unit. The campground has a PA system that they use instead of walkie talkies to call staff to escort to sites as well as announce events...very annoying, especially on a busy weekend. We would not stay here again. We camped at Skowhegan / Kennebec Valley KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in a pull thru site F1 full hook up, site was nice and level. Staff escorted to our site, and made sure to show locations of hookups. Was unable to use outdoor rug, for fear of trip hazard due to large roots from tree on the site. Campground was VERY clean, and staff were extremely friendly! I would recommend this campground to anyone looking to stay in the Skowhegan/Canaan area. We camped at Skowhegan / Kennebec Valley KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Very friendly staff, nice park layout, with lots of grassy areas for walking four legged friends. Wi-Fi actually worked, not the greatest but it did work. Interior roads a little rough, but we did have 8-9 inches of rain in 3 weeks. Would highly recommend the park. Breakfasts on the weekends were outstanding. The staff is really friendly and we stayed during the Halloween weekend so there were events like trick or treating and a haunted hayride. Those were well done and well attended. Downside, the sites stink. My site was on a 45 degree slope. We had 3 other family's camping with us and all were on a hill. One of the fire rings were on such a hill that we couldn't keep wood on the fire. The sites are so small that you can't help but intrude on your neighbors. I couldn't set up an easy up canopy without putting half of it on my camper, and the picnic tables are tiny. While I think that the owners do a good job, I don't intend to return. We camped at Skowhegan / Kennebec Valley KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This is a fine campground. Please don't let my low score put you off. I downgraded the campground for two reasons: 1. The public announcements over the outdoor speakers are an unnecessary annoyance. It is nice that they have so many activities for children but announcing each activity when other campers are just trying to relax is not pleasant. 2. The trees drop large amounts of sap on the vehicles. I found over 100 spots on my car and it took me hours to remove them. The office should forewarn the campers about this. We stayed here over Labor Day Weekend. It was chock full of families with kids and pets. It seemed that everyone had a great time. It wasn't a quiet time during the day, but it was at night. We stayed for a couple of days after everybody left, and it was absolutely terrific. Quiet, and lovely. The owners and camp workers were terrific, and we would certainly return. One night stay only - passing through to Canada. I must have caught the staff on an off day as they were not very friendly and very "stand offish" - Nothing special - bathrooms were passable but could use a clean up. We camped at Skowhegan / Kennebec Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

This was a nice campground though the loud pager system disturbs the peace and quiet. The fire truck rides blaring their horn for a half hour was also frustrating to some campers. There is plenty for the kids to do with an arcade, slightly heated pool, planned activities, and mini golf. The sites in K section were adequate and had a large spacious area behind them. This is a dog friendly park with lots of dogs around. The hot tub is small, only fitting 3 comfortably. The park rules are quite strict and enforced. The park was clean but wet and muddy mostly due to the New England weather: they could use paving in the park. The wood was not over priced at $4.00 a bundle. I would suggest a visit. Showers not clean, lots of hair everywhere. Bathrooms very clean. Trim up the shower curtain, and the water wasn't hot at all. WIFI was excellent, as was the cable tv. Owner very nice, I would suggest that they use walkie talkies instead of a PA system. We would stay here again. We camped at Skowhegan / Kennebec Valley KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice staff, who gave a 10% discount to Canadians. Even though it was raining the pool was open, but the pool pavement and stairs was in need of repair. The owner would NOT open the hot tub for the campers on the night we stayed, and NO kids were allowed in it - even with their parents present. The camp store close quite early, but the game room stayed open to 10pm. We might stay here again?? We camped at Skowhegan / Kennebec Valley KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
