Typical state park --- pretty setting, no utilities at site. They have a water/dump station near the entrance, but use the driveway closest to the entrance to get the dump on the driver side. Sites are VERY secluded, mostly level, mostly grass. A few looked less level. In July, the mosquitoes were pretty fierce. Our site was WAY back in the park and if we had needed their showers we would have needed to commute via car or bike. Too many low branches on the way out for a big rig. We went slow and dodged most and scraped a few. The rangers were friendly and said they'd trim 'em back. We got lucky and got satellite at 16; Site 15 looked to have much more open sky. We camped at Cobscook Bay State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed over the July 4th holiday 2017. Our site was large and private but because the ground is perpetually damp the mosquitoes were the worst I've ever seen. The showers are decent but the facility is open to the bugs so you will get bit by mosquitoes and horse flies. A tip for anyone booking site 10, the rangers may direct you to approach from the south (site on your left). Instead, approach from the north, take the loop by sites 2-8 to accomplish this. We will visit again but will shoot for late summer / fall when the bugs (hopefully) aren't as bad. We camped at Cobscook Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a remote part of Maine but there is plenty to do within 30-40 minute drive. Quoddy Head State Park , Roosevelt Campobello International Park. Eastport was worth the drive just for the stop at Raye's Mustard Museum. Go see 'Reversing Falls', pretty cool to see tidal flows that look like river rapids. Last but not least, Lubec Brewing is worth the trip if you like craft beer.

Beautifully maintained State Park close to many Downeast Maine sites. Terrific place for children, supervised, to bike and play at the huge playfield, nice new looking playground equipment. Lovely covered picnic tables and cooking devices, plus horseshoe pit. We camped at Cobscook Bay State Park in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

Great walking/hiking opportunities at nearby Quoddy Lighthouse State Park; there are groceries available at a couple of the gas/go stores, including freshly cut meat at one place. Highly recommend bringing a bike as the park is very large with wide roads. Very few campers during our recent July 2017 three night stay.

This is camping heaven for those that enjoy private sites, beautiful scenery, and true camping. No hookups means you are back to basics or must rely on being self-contained. Not for those that like camping resorts and planned activities. Hiking trails are available, relaxing by the shore is the highlight. Very nice tent sites available as well. We camped at Cobscook Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 15 days in a waterfront site with a nice view of the tidal basin. We really enjoyed our stay at this very quiet pretty park. The CG is well maintained, grass is cut and the gravel roads are in good condition. We would rate this CG an 8 if the sites were level and easier to get large rigs in and out of the sites. Having said that, there are a few large rig sites which have water views and many others that are surrounded by trees. There are also many tent sites or sites for small campers which have good water views. Almost all sites are well separated from the adjacent sites and provide good privacy. Be aware that there is: no water at camp sites, no elect and no sewer. No flush toilets. There is one central shower facility with good hot water. Showers are 25 cents for 5 minutes on the honor system. I would recommend this CG to anyone wanting a nice quiet pretty camping experience. We camped at Cobscook Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Some great tent sites and there are some RV sites on the Bay. There is no electricity and most of the camping areas have pit toilets and water but the entrance of the campground has a nice washroom with showers. Great for hikes and for clamming when the biggest tides of the Bay of Fundy go out! We camped at Cobscook Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

We loved this mostly wooded no hook-up park. The park map indicates the large RV site are suitable for a 30 ft rig and the XL sites are good for a 35 ft rig. We found most of the RV sites to be huge (many are pull-thrus), it seemed that they would take a much larger RV than designated but there are quite a few spots where overhead and side branches brushed our RV. Dirt road into the camping loops created a bit of dust, shower house was a bit of distance from the RV loop (the tent camping loops are separate from the RV loop) and showers were slightly run down but outhouses were scattered through the park and they have a dump station. We were lucky to get site #4 which had a wonderful view of the bay, we found a nice level spot in it for our 30 ft class A. Site #7 is a reservable site with great water views as well. If we hadn't gotten a water view we would have liked sites #25 and #26 for terrific, wooded privacy. Heads-up about the nature trail - it's heavily criss-crossed with tree roots on the main trail and if you take the spur trail to the overlook area it is extremely rocky (lots of insects is a given). We wished we had used more bug spray and worn better shoes but the view was nice. From the park we visited the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse and state park (the coastal trail was great) and the Roosevelt-Campobello island in New Brunswick. We also visited the reversing falls area to really see the water churning and rushing out to sea with the tide. We camped at Cobscook Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

This is one of the Maine State Park campgrounds which can be reserved for 2 or more nights on weekends and 1 or more on Sunday through Thursday (you don't really need reservations except for the summer and holiday weekends). This is a beautiful park that we have camped at many times on our way up the Maine coast heading to Canada or for an extended stay. It is on the coast - sites should be checked because some are for tents only but they are beautiful with water view. There are some sites for RV's in an open area and also in a secluded area that you need to backin and some are drive through right on the coast. The tent sites and some of the RV sites are some of the best I have ever seen on the rocky coast of Maine. There are 24 foot tides here heading up through the Bay of Fundy. One can go hiking, clamming or touring. Quoddy Head is near by and a visit to Roosevelt-Campobello Island is a must. Check passport requirements that will be needed within a year if you decide to cross over to Canada. The shores are rocky and beautiful with alot of wildlife. This is one of our favorite campgrounds and is not crowded like some of the other State Parks because it is on the Canadian border. We camped at Cobscook Bay State Park in a Motorhome.
