10 RV Parks near Farmingdale, Maine
Jul 2014 - $15.00
$15 rate represents a $450 monthly rate plus electric. We intended to stay a month, ending up staying for over two. This is a little slice of heaven folks, the wife and I have RV'd over 30 years and this is one of nicest campgrounds and nicest people you will ever meet. The campground is for adults only, no frills for kids which is exactly what we look for. Very clean campground, beautiful landscaping, right on the Kennebec River. I caught several small mouth bass at the dock, sturgeon can be seen jumping out of the river, eagles soaring, very pristine setting. The owners are wonderful people, host regular Friday night dinners, and do a wonderful job of making you feel like this is home. The campground is centrally located, easy enough to get to the coast or to the mountains on day trips. Augusta is 10 minutes to the north, plenty to see. We will definitely return to this park. - JamBus
Jul 2012 - $25.00
Rate is weekly rate plus tax. We are staying here for 2 weeks. The park is quiet and seems quite secure. Each vehicle gets a remote to operate the gated entrance. Most of the sites are seasonal but there are a couple sites available. Everybody we have met is quite friendly. Sat at the river yesterday and watched several eagles fishing. We are about 50 feet from railroad tracks but have not seen any train since we got here 5 days ago. Paved rail/trail is beside the tracks. Owner is very friendly and helpful. If space is available here when we are in the area we will stay here again. - User1984
Jul 2008 - $13.00
We found this campground thru Passport America and the rate reflects their discount. The owner added 3 new back in sites this year, the other 11 sites are taken by seasonal campers. Our site (13) is wooded, full shade, with a gravel drive and pad. It is a short walk past the other sites to the Kennebec river and marina. This is a great stop for folks traveling to or from Canada or someone with a boat that is lucky enough to get a slip in the marina. - SunnyTravelers
Sep 2017 - $65.00
Typical KOA, overpriced for narrow, close sites. Sites are terraced up a hill. Utilities were good and site was long enough and level. No cable and slow but useable Wi-Fi. Several over the air channels. Heavily treed so forget the satellite. - starwind
Aug 2017 - $55.00
They are running the park like a business because you pay for absolutely everything which is generally much more expensive than elsewhere. the owners are ok but not overly friendly or accommodating. With their location and the prices they charge the "all you can eat" pancake breakfast should be free. No need to incur a cost of $4 per person. they advertise activities but there we none. We would not stay here again. - Esse
Jul 2017 - $50.00
Very friendly staff. Most sites level enough and centrally located. River very close by for swimming and fishing. Would definitely stay again. - WayBro
Aug 2008 - $38.00
Very nice owner's and host staff, restaurant and small supply store. Beautiful lake access with a dock for boats and visiting boats. Mostly outdated playground for kids but the lake is the main draw with a jump float and nice clean beach. Steady 30a power and decent pricing with flexible staff. We extended our stay by a half day and they charged me only $6. Now I have to be honest and list the bad - the access road is terrible and nearly 3/4 of a mile long with steep rises and falls, some overhanging tree limbs and rutted areas. Also, the sites are tight tight tight. This is NOT a place for anyone towing something longer then a 34' trailer of any type. The roads are narrow and people park their cars into the the road, I am still surprised (thanks to my wife spotting objects) that I didn't tear the roof or take out a corner marker. - mwebber78
Jun 2008 - $42.00
NOTE: GPS does not recognize Norris Point Road. The correct address is Norris Hill Road which ends at the campground. Small, mostly seasonal campground. Sites can not be booked for less than 7 days until after Memorial Day. Minimal activities: crafts, bingo, weekend horseshoe tournament. The Saturday night we stayed they had a great band. Non seasonal sites are grassy with very little shade. Small store with basics. 6 miles to get to any services. Too many seasonals tear around on golf carts for such a small campground. Lake is beautiful and quite warm for Maine. We probably won't go back. - Everyboysmomma
Jun 2016 - $37.00
This was a convenient one night stopover from New Brunswick Canada to VT. It has a lovely lakeside setting with many seasonals and families with kids. As mentioned by others, the access road to the park is 3/4 mile of unpaved and bumpy travel but once inside the park the roads were fine.
Our unshaded site was part of an interior circular grassy area. None of the shady perimeter sites along the lakefront were available. We had a comfortable distance from our neighbor for our slide-out and the grassy site was level. We had 30 amp service but did not use their water or WiFi. There was a dump station near the exit but none at the site.
There were several families with kids, both in tents and in RVs. It seemed very family oriented.
Management does have lots of rules and signs. At registration we were handed a plastic bag for trash and a list of 28 rules. Signage in the (only?) bathroom was "no washing dishes or pans in sinks" and "washrooms closed between 8a and 9:30a". Perhaps the park's emphasis on kids was the reason for having so many rules. - BP106
Sep 2015 - $35.00
Old smaller campground but buildings and landscape in good condition. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. Approximately 60 percent are permanent campers. Campground is right on the lake but most water view sites are taken by permanent campers. They do rent canoes and kayaks and would be a good place for fishing. Campground has some shaded areas and very limited number of 50 amp and a few long pull thru sites. Campground road had horrible potholes on road into camp. They did drag the road before we left which made the road bearable. We camped here because it was a good Sam Park but campground would not give the 10% discount unless you paid in cash. Never experienced this from a Good Sam park. - fulltimehusker
Jul 2012 - $34.00
Wonderful park. We would definitely come back here. Small beach for swimming, good pool, games. Lots of things for kids to do. - sharon28
Jul 2016 - $45.00
Reminded me of a state park with full hook ups. The entrance is literally at the end of a (3) mile long gravel road where it dead ends, so don't be alarmed. We had one of about 10 pull throughs close to the entrance and it was ok. Extensively treed, so-so water pressure, no wifi period, iffy cell service. Had to ask the check in people several questions after we checked in and their responses were less than helpful. Most likely won't stay again if in the area. - jc2
Aug 2015 - $27.00
Rustic campground in the woods! Great for a weekend, week, or more. Campground is clean and well maintained. Facilities are constantly being improved. Sites are level--no concrete slabs but as I said they are level! Plenty of things to do for everyone! - Mcpowder
Jul 2004 - $30.00
If you like a rustic campground, you will love this place. It is very wooded and some of the roads are a bit rough, but very passable. We have always had the same water site each time we have been there, as we and the dog, can go swimming just steps away from the camper door. Larger rigs may have a hard time with some of the corners, so be sure to be aware of that. According to their web site, their new pull-thru sites are now available. - dylansmom
Jun 2017 - $35.00
Service at the Office was sketchy. Sometimes they were there, other times not. They couldn't find our reservation and had to call the owner at home to get the ok. Our site was quite uneven and the sewer inlet was up higher than our trailer outlet. Cable hookup was available but didn't work. If someone visits for any length of time...it's $5 per person. I'm an older guy and my son stopped by to help me hook up...$5. the park is situated on a pretty pond, that's a plus. - MCHug
Jun 2016 - $35.00
All hookups worked fine. We were thankful for the cable since our satellite tv didn't work. The park could use a little extra TLC as it has a run down tired look. The bathrooms needed cleaning. There were cob webs that needed to be brushed away from last year and a coat of paint wouldn't hurt. Our GPS registered a 42% downgrade coming into the park. For some reason, they kept blocking the road as you entered (probably to stop people coming in too fast). A fox then a skunk lived (or died?) under the office making it smell so bad the managers couldn't even work there. The laundry room had two of four dryers broken and only two washers. They worked well but were also housed in the stinky office building. - Melodycthomas
Aug 2015 - $33.00
Stayed here just one night on our way from Massachusetts to Bar Harbor. Challenging, steep roads to the park led to fairly flat camping. Nice lake, nice playground, mostly seasonal campers - nice folks. Our golden retriever enjoyed a swim while we enjoyed a beautiful sunset. - Upstater
Jul 2016 - $30.00
It is an "ok" park for one night. Branches drug across our MH and really should be cut. They were very low. All grass sites. We had no sewer. Wifi was NOT free. Showers were free. Only one exit/entrance and not wide enough for another car to pass. That is bothersome to us considering it is very woodsy here. Careful how your GPS brings you in. "Waze" brought us up a steep, short, sharp turn at a RR track. The hitch hit the ground there and I'm not sure how we even did it without more damage. I'm not sure I would stay again. - User3274
Jun 2016 - $32.00
Very nice campground with well maintained grounds. Some seasonal camping with well cared for sites. - sandawilliams
Jun 2008 - $28.00
Nice clean campground. Good room for big rigs in the pull thru sites as well as down at the waterfront sites. Pool was clean and so were the restrooms. Family owned and very friendly. Easy access to dump station and they have a honey wagon service for longer stays. Owner is certified RV tech and does work at very reasonable charge. - scrowba
Jun 2017 - $75.00
Yes, it's expensive, so it's up to you whether it's worth it or not. We paid $75 for our site and loved it. The women that run the place are very friendly and helpful. Great to deal with, and their dogs are really nice pooches. The campground is geared mostly for tents, pop-ups and small trailers. Our 34' TT was on the large side, but there were a few sites that could accommodate us. Most of the sites are very spacious, especially compared to other private parks, which is why you're paying more. There are some really nice tent sites that are all by themselves. The campground is built on a small hill that rolls down to the marsh and the bay. Most of the sites have spectacular views of the marsh/bay, where you'll see deer, eagles, osprey, etc. What we really like about the campground is that they have kept it rustic, and keep it very well-maintained. There is a dirt road all around that is perfectly smooth. The bathroom/shower building is very simple, yet spotless. There is a saltwater pool (very nice), tennis courts, rec building, canoes and kayaks to rent (watch the tide). Some sites have no power, some 15A, and a few have 30A. Wi-fi at the office only is good, and Verizon service was good. There's a supermarket right around the corner along with other shopping. We hit the Montsweag Roadhouse for drinks - great place. Dogs are allowed. We were in site 17 once (shady). Easy getting in. Getting out took a few twists and pulling into site NN. Good thing there was a small MH there that was pulled up enough to give me some maneuvering room. We were in site RB, too (sunny). Again, getting in was easy, getting out required pulling into a site across from us. One thing that rubbed us was the guest fees. We had friends stay with us one night with their daughter, so that was another $30. We understand the need for guest fees, but $10 apiece was a bit much. There is a great campground to hang out all day in and never leave. - Merlinmurph
Aug 2016 - $80.00
We have been staying here for approx 9yrs. You are always greeted like family by the owners. They are truly happy to see you and want you to enjoy every minute of your stay. It's quiet, clean and the views are breathtaking. Pet friendly and serene. Chewonki is our "happy place" and we choose not to go anywhere else when we camp. Once you try it, you'll want to come back, I promise! - Erinne Brown
Aug 2016 - $68.00
After a horrible experience at a nearby campground we where lucky to find Chewonki Campground. It is a little more expensive and worth every penny. The owners 2 sisters could not have been nicer and made us feel like we were home, they even offered us leftovers for dinner.
The sites are huge and private with amazing views, we had a hard time picking a site. It was quiet and very relaxing. We have already booked another stay next month. Our favorite part was the salt water fed pool. Very clean well maintained, the nicest and most private camp ground we have ever stayed in. Its a must you will not be disappointed. - B Crossman
Sep 2010 - $19.00
No services and you must carry your trash out. We stayed in Site 20 right on the lake. This state park is small but very nice. It is about 37 miles east of Augusta right on route 3. There are about ten sites right on the lake and if you have a boat you can tie it right up in front of your site. Restrooms are new like many of the Maine State Parks with individual bathrooms, showers and sink. Nicely done! The State of Maine got a grant to construct these washrooms a couple of years ago and most of their state parks now have really nice ones that are modern. No services here but for an overnight or a week most RV’s can live without it. There is a public picnic area that is very nice with a swimming area next to the campground. Since we were there in September the rates have dropped. We paid as an out of stater $19 but in season it must be close to $25 or higher. It is a good place to stop driving over to Acadia or to stops along the coast! - gsnakehill
Sep 2016 - $32.00
Lake Pemaquid CG is a huge place with many features: beaches, boathouses, a store, playgrounds, etc. It is very family-friendly and there were lots of kids riding around on bikes and playing various games, swimming, eating ice cream, and generally having a good time. The upkeep of the entire facility is so-so. The main paved road is hard to tell from the many dirt roads because the paving is in poor condition. There are lots of trees and some grass but it isn't particularly manicured. The water is lovely and because it isn't the ocean, it is not too cold to swim in.
There are many seasonal campers and they are scattered around in the CG. There are a variety of sites and there's probably one to suit anyone's taste.
There was one area (near us) where a noisy group of seasonal campers seemed to gather every night to have a fire and drink and make way too much noise. This is a beautiful location and probably ideal for families who like outdoor recreation. - virginianola
Aug 2016 - $43.00
Very family oriented park. If you don't have kids you won't want to stay here. Free WiFi is only in one building that is locked all the time. Poor AT&T signal. Pool and spa area overrun with kids. - AMM
Aug 2016 - $39.00
This is a huge park as RV parks go. The park is on a lake but the beach is not particularly nice, most campers use the pool for swimming. The playground is very good for the kids by offering unusual activities like a swing bridge and a small zip line. The camp store and snack bar operate well. Since the park is so large, it lacks the personal service that you receive in a smaller park. Weekends are hectic since the park is full, things quiet down some during the week.
The check out is somewhat awkward; you have to stop at the office to receive your deposit on the gate pass and there is no place to pull your rig over to the side. It can cause a bit of a bottle neck.
WI-FI is weak and only available at the rec hall, no cable TV. AT&T is very weak. We were able to obtain satellite TV from our site. We stayed for five days. - Nautilus
