This is an awesome campground!! Everything is brand new and super clean! The bathrooms were near our site and you saw them being cleaned multiple times a day. There is a really nice pool which was always crowded. The kids' playground was really cute with an activity tent. Multiple lawn games were outside to use. This campground has glamping tents and cottages that looked amazing! We stayed 3 nights on our way to Acadia and I would stay here for a whole week! The beach is about a mile away and was really nice. The sites are pretty close but the campground made up for it. Many activities for the kids to do. I highly recommend this place! We camped at Sandy Pines Campground (formerly Salty Pines Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Kennebunkport is such a charming town! Many good restaurants. We enjoyed Rugosa Lobster boat tours. Check out Goose Rocks Beach too....you can park for free after 6 or buy a parking pass for $15 at the campground store.

Sandy Pines has definitely transformed itself into a resort destination. Location is excellent. An easy 15 minute drive from I-95 and, once you are here, it's only about a mile to one of Maine's best beaches - Goose Rocks Beach. The campground has adequate space for all sizes of campers. Be sure though to verify by calling before assuming your big Class A will fit on some of the spots. Even if the website says it will fit, I've seen some need to move to a different spot due to the tight fit. Electric and water are all upgraded on the sites. Cable TV available, although we didn't use it. Too much to do here in the area! The pool is perfect -- heated and a large area for lounging. Even on the busiest of days there were still chairs available. The downsides to the campground: Wifi -- although there are access points across the campground, the connection was slow and unusable most of the time. Even though there are also a lot of bath houses (modern and kept clean!), there aren't enough when the campground is at capacity. We saw large lines at them, especially closer to the front of the park where the glamping tents are. I hope they take care of the issue. Overall Rating:

This all-new campground is an absolute gem! Don't miss it. New owner put $5.5 million into the renewal, according to Boston Globe, and it shows. Everything is new, just one month old today. RV sites are newly graveled. All new electrical, cable, water, mulch between sites. New baths that are different, unisex, but each is a self-contained full bathroom, not the usual stalls lined up in a row. Free showering. Heated, salt water pool. One mile walk/bike to the sandy, beautiful Goose Rocks Beach. Some wifi problems when we arrived but believe they were fixed the day before we left because wifi the morning we left was fast and stable. Staff friendly and helpful. Not far from the shops etc in Kennebunk/port and only a mile or so to Cape Porpoise. Firewood was very dry and reasonably priced. Sites may seem a bit pricey but they are on a par with others in the southern Maine coastal region (I checked). Stay here now before it gets discovered. Now called Sandy Pines, there are new owners here. I had never been there before but you can still see what it once looked like as the work is not done. As for the work done so far, all I can say is WOW! Everything here looks amazing from the entry to the office and store to the pool to the sites and the bathhouses. The entire front half of the campground has been done over and the work continues. The sites are all new crushed stone with new bark mulch between the sites. All new fire pits and utilities at the sites which look great. The bathhouse were very nice as well. They are installing campground maps and info boards throughout the campground. The staff was very nice as well and made you feel very welcome. To date they have done a wonderful job on everything. Overall Rating:

The best part of this campground is the amount of trees. Sites are fairly private. However, most sites are small, perfect for tents, popups, and small travel trailers. Salty Acres is certainly not a place for larger trailers, 5th wheels, and motorhomes. The roads tend to be narrow - barely enough room for two vehicles to pass each other, and in some spots the roads are only one-vehicle wide. While there are a good amount of sites with electrical hookups, most of those are 20 amp only, with few 30 amp sites. Moreover, there are not many water hook-up sites, and most of those are in one area of the campground. In general, the campground seems to cater to tenters and overnighters. While they have a (unheated) pool, there is not much else to do in this campground (there is no playground or any other facilities for children). We stayed Labor Day weekend, and there were no planned activities or other events to make you want to stay in the campground. However, on the positive side, Salty Acres is very close to Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport. So, it is a perfect place to stay if you are going to the beach or Kennebunkport. Overall, I would say that Salty Acres is a good place to stay if you want peace, quiet, and relaxation, or if you want a place to stay that is close to Kennebunkport and the beach. Otherwise, if you are looking for a campground with kid-friendly amenities, look elsewhere. We camped at Sandy Pines Campground (formerly Salty Pines Campground) in a Tent Trailer.

This is a hard campground to evaluate because of the variety of users. Tent people will probably love the place. There are many, many tent sites. There are even quite a few sites available for pop-ups and small campers. We arrived in a larger motorhome. While we fit into what is probably their only site large enough for us, the 30 amp service was marginal, at best. Even one air conditioner was out of the question. I will give it one positive. There are lots of trees. We camped at Sandy Pines Campground (formerly Salty Pines Campground) in a Motorhome.

Nice place. We didn't know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. The sites where we were (#175) all have some sort of trees/vegetation between them so you have some separation. The surfaces are gravel and level. Older reviews talk about bad roads but that has been fixed now and the roads are smooth and well maintained. Campground was extremely quiet at all times. Many campers are from French speaking Canada and keep to themselves. We had a most of the sites are for tents. Our site was small for our trailer. We knew it was a 20 amp site but the 30 amp sites were not as nice so we squeezed in. Pool is great. Has a tree growing on a big rock next to it. Our kids loved that. Owners are nice. We've been coming here for several years: this time we stayed in a pull-through site at the front. As always, we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay: from how safe we felt with the new security gate to how friendly the staff and other campers were. This family campground is a treasure in the trees! We recommend Salty Acres to anyone camping in a basic tent or needing hookups, and anyone looking for that old school camping experience. They've made some noticeable changes in the past few years, but we think it's for the good of the campground and the campers in general. Two thumbs up! We can't wait to go again next year! I would like to give it more than a five, but I just can't. The sites are really small, the camp roads were really rough. I've driven down logging roads in the North Maine Woods that were in better shape. The bathrooms, in a word, yuck! The shower stalls were dirty and filled with sand. The toilets smelled strongly. I went in one mere seconds after it was "cleaned" and it was still dirty. The bathrooms are old and set up in an outdoors style, with the sinks and mirrors outside. No soap, or paper towels were provided and toilet paper was a rare commodity. Pluses: It is a really quiet campground. The people staying there were really nice and the staff was OK. The pool was nice and the kiddie pool was well maintained. I guess if I had to sum it up: The park is run very bare bones, I probably would not return, but I wouldn't feel like I had to leave early. One thing we liked is that they let us drive around and pick out a site, rather than tell us where to go. They had a quiet time and it was patrolled by a security guard in a golf cart. We had no trouble sleeping here. The sound of ocean waves didn't hurt, either! They have both a full size pool, and a large wading pool for the little ones. The roads back to the campsites could use some improvements. The bathrooms and showers were conveniently placed and clean with separate sinks for dishes. We don't remember seeing a single campsite that did not have shade. There is a really nice beach: Goose Rocks Beach, just down the road. You can only park there with a permit, which the campground sells for $5, but you don't need after 6:00 PM. We really enjoyed watching the tide rise and fall right behind our camper. We were in the most eastern part of the campground at the back. Did we mention that this place was QUIET? We camped at Sandy Pines Campground (formerly Salty Pines Campground) in a Tent Trailer.
