I saw one other review that would almost match my feelings. The view and weather are extremely nice. The showers and bathrooms are clean, but no hand drying and no soap and the showers are pay .50 or more and extremely small and the toilets are too small too, but everything is clean. What made our stay worthwhile was the view and the tides. We camped here one week and always used the facilities. As one other camper said, the rules are many, but the owners are nice. Some people come back every year to the same spot. Can only stay two weeks at a time. Probably cheaper then most places on the ocean, but it should be as I've mentioned. No place to ride a bicycle as the beaches are all rocky and I didn't even get my FAT tire bike out of the truck. We camped at Lobster Buoy Campsite in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We both loved the 2 hour sailboat ride in Camden on the Olag. We took a boat to Monhegan Island and it was OK, but not great fun. Maine makes a lot of their income from tourism. are want to eat lobster, find a place on the docks where you can buy several wholesale, about half price, steel bucket to cook the lobster. Don't forget your passports if you want to venture farther north into Canada and Nova Scotia.

My rating isn't higher just because the shorefront sites are kinda close together. But this was a great place to stay, very quiet, nice people, great fire ring and table with a view (from our site 12). Sites vary a lot of look at Google Earth and the site map to choose. The sites along the water have a great vista over the water. The price was good compared to many other campgrounds in Maine (which to us were expensive compared to the western U.S.) We camped at Lobster Buoy Campsite in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Lobster Buoy Campgrounds in July 2017 and I can say to us this was a hidden gem. It was by far the quietest campground we have stated in. We were just steps from them ocean. It is a smaller family owned and operated. There are some rules that someone going there would need to know. 1st is they do not allow you to run air conditioning or generators, but with the ocean breeze we found that we didn't need it at all. We had 15 amp electric and water. We needed the extension cord to reach the pedestal. The sites were not the most level that have seen but we were able to get level. They believe in old time camping where people need to entertain themselves. They do have their own beach that you can fish or kayak from. The other campers were mostly people that come back year after year but everyone is so friendly they made us feel like we knew them for a long time. We camped at Lobster Buoy Campsite in a Travel Trailer.

The only thing I can rave about is the ocean view. Spectacular.

The sites are only 30 amps.

In the brochure you get when you check in, it tells you about all the things they will throw you out of the park for, such as, no a/c, electric heater, generator, what types of cords you must use, no more than one dog (we saw several people with two)' and that's not the complete list.

Although they tell you they try to keep rates low, they could weed whack around all of the ramshackle trailers in the park and around the buildings to make the place look more appealing.

$25 charge if you dump when you arrive and then a free dump every three days even if it's your blue tank. They reserve the right to inspect your drain hoses too.

The straw that broke the camel's back was when you got to the shower, then and only then you find you have to pay for them too and there is nothing that says how much they cost or how long they run.

I don't believe we will be returning. We camped at Lobster Buoy Campsite in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We had a spot right on the bay and the views were fantastic. The campground is clean and the restrooms are ok. The restrooms and shower could use an updating but are satisfactory. The views of the bay made up for the moderate facilities. The owner was very nice and friendly. Great area to explore. Very much off the beaten path. Sea glass hunting right there on the beach. We would stay there again. We camped at Lobster Buoy Campsite in a Motorhome.

This is our favorite campground ever. Old style camping with natural beauty and no man-made distractions to keep you from enjoying the place and the people. Looking for glitz and glamour try somewhere else and leave this beautiful place for the rest of us. We camped at Lobster Buoy Campsite in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a very difficult campground to rate. It is right on the ocean. If you are lucky enough to get one of the 4 or 5 waterfront sights, the view is great. We were here preseason so, we got lucky. It is inexpensive for here, as $32 per night is extremely cheap. The owner/manager is very nice. She even accepts out-of-state checks. (No credit cards accepted). It is hard to rate how it would be in busy season, but I suspect it is very peaceful. This is a great area to spend time, with Rockline very near with all of the restaurants and services on top of the many beaches and lighthouses to explore. Now the somewhat negatives. The campground if very funky. It seems to have been laid-out by someone that has had one too many drinks. There are various power poles and water outlets around. The sites are marked, but pretty haphazard. We were there when it had been raining a lot, so it was pretty sloppy. There are no sewer hookups. There are 20 and 30 amp (no 50 amps.) We had 30 amp, but not really. We have a safety device to cut power if the voltage drops too much. We had to be very careful not to use too much are the voltage would go very low,so don't expect to use AC or electric heaters or water heaters. (AC's and electric heater are banned by the park rules anyway.) Oh yes, it is a very quiet and dark park, which we like. A few streetlights around, but not too bright. If you are looking for a "resort" stay far away. If you like views and quite for a few days, give it a try. We camped at Lobster Buoy Campsite in a Motorhome.
