Could be a nice cg as it is on the water with some nice views. Big rig fhu sites are very close to Rt 1 so quite a bit of traffic noise. Not too bad though. We had a very large site with a water view so that made this week manageable. 2 dog areas but they are just open spaces with a path mowed through them. No play room and definitely not off-the-leash time. Trash smell was horrible and not picked up until Saturday. Lots of handmade signs telling you "No Rugs on Grass". There were only weeds growing through gravel so I don't understand the reason for the signs. Owner was very pleasant and helpful. Runs an antique shop on the site. My take is that the cg provides income to support the preferred antique business. Fire pit and picnic table were in good shape. We camped at Mountain View Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed for 8 days. If you book a week you get a night free. Good place, nothing fancy. We heard road noise but oh well, after hiking each day it did not matter. Site was clean, Owner is very nice. We had a good verizon signal. Satellite could not acquire due to the chestnut tree. No biggie, watched dvr when not out. We camped at Mountain View Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Eat lobster, lots of it. Then hike Acadia park. Go see Schoodic bay & eat lobster. Go to Lubec and Campabello island, return to Ellsworth and eat more lobster. Drive to Fort Knox on the Penobscot river, return and eat lobster.

This is a simple RV/Tent campground on a parcel between Rt 1 and a narrows off of Frenchman Bay with a view of Mts. Cadillac and Champlain. Each site is priced differently based on amenities and are reasonably level with minimal adjustment. Back-in sites along the entrance road have sewer, those in a loop around the grassy meadow do not. Most around the loop are pull-throughs. Tent sites were mostly in the trees. There is a shower house and a dump station. Voltage and water were good. A/C & electric heat are an extra fee; A/C is probably not needed for most of the season. Wi-Fi was accessible from the sites closer to the front and top of the loop, not closer to the shore; speed was adequate for email, etc. We could get OTA channels 7.1 & 7.2, but the antenna had to be pointed correctly. We were on the ring and could see the water. Some mornings are perfect for watching a sunrise over Mt. Cadillac, others completely in fog. Sometimes a distant fog horn is heard. We didn't notice any traffic noise from Rt 1. While the campground rules are pretty much standard, they have felt a need to post them around the campground similar to Burma Shave signs. The parallel sites were about average in proximity to neighbors; some were quite large. The prices are not out of line for this popular region. We camped at Mountain View Campground in a Travel Trailer.

About 20 minutes to Walmart, double that to Bar Harbor. About 30 minutes to Schoodic Point. Winter Harbor is about 1/2 way to Schoodic Point and offers a scenic passenger ferry running to Bar Harbor for those who want to skip the drive and parking hassles. There are also free shuttle bus routes on Schoodic Peninsula and Mt. Desert Island. https://www.acadianationalpark.com/transportation/ferries.php http://www.exploreacadia.com/routefinder.htm

Great campground. Proximitiy to various activities was great. Bathroom/shower was very clean. Wi-Fi in the section by the ocean is sketchy at best, but could be fixed. Also the water/electric hook ups should be moved more into the campsite. We have a 22' RV and by the time we got backed into the site we had to be very close to the camp road in order to get electricity and power. We wanted to be further into the site, but that was not going to happen. The gentleman who was mowing the lawn and told us EXACTLY where we HAD to park , told us to go buy an extension cord! Not helpful. Also, I hope they have an outdoor dishwashing station in the plans, they really need at least 2 of these. No sewer hook-ups in the section by the water but they do have a dump station. Would we return, Yes. Hopefully some changes will be made to be more accommodating. We camped at Mountain View Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice location but owners don't seem to like people. I made my reservation in April but the lot I reserved was given to someone else. I reserved the lot for the view. The lot they gave me had a view of another camper. When I told that to the owner, she said "Oh, I never realized that. Thanks for telling me." Her husband didn't like the way I parked the camper on the lot and told me if I moved it over the lot would be more level. I did move it and the lot was less level. The grass was about 6" high when we arrived, in the peak season, he mowed it the next day and blew it everywhere on the campers. They love to put up signs telling you what not to do. So cheesy. There are other campgrounds nearby and they are better. A nice state campground and at least two other private campgrounds. I would choose one of them next time. We camped at Mountain View Campground in a Travel Trailer.

A basic campground that fills all your needs. Right off the highway but no noise problems and I'm sensitive to that. Our 43' motor home site with full hookups was parked closer to the road. If you don't need sewer your pick of sites closer to the water has spectacular views ... has me wishing we weren't so big, lol A great place to stay. Nice roomy sites. Very nice owners. We wanted to extend our stay but there was no availability. We camped at Mountain View Campground in a Motorhome.

A convenient location on Route 1, but surprisingly quiet. It is off the highway a bit and located on a beautiful harbor. You can walk along the beach and watch the working fishing boats. There were only 4 other RVs when we were there. No laundry available onsite. The campground is behind a little antique store that the owner runs. Location is close to Schoodic Peninsula - the "quiet" part of Acadia. We enjoyed it here very much.

Would stay here again. We camped at Mountain View Campground in a Motorhome.

Park is behind eclectic antique store. Office is in store.

Sites closer to the office (and Hwy 1) are full service. We opted for PW site closer to the water. No road noise.

We booked in for 2 nights so we could visit Bar Harbor and Acadia NP. Both were very busy but we're glad we made the trip. Owner gave us short cut instructions to Bar Harbor which bypassed Ellsworth.

We would stay here again. We camped at Mountain View Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of the best RV parks we have been to! Right on the water, right between the two parts of Acadia National Park. Nice and quiet, and not in the middle of the chaos in Bar Harbor.

But you can't beat the views. You can see Cadillac Mountain, see the water and walk the rocky shoreline. We camped at Mountain View Campground in a Travel Trailer.

a beautifu campground, a little out of the crowd in the acadia national park area. Very easy drive to the schoodic peninsula, on the water, full services " up top near the road" , but if you can live without internet and sewer, going down below gives you the camping feeling with water and electric. Bathroms dated, but quite serviceable. Attentive owners without being intrusive, beautiful views, convenient to all of the attractions nearby, we loved this campground, extended our stay to 2 weeks, and would definitely return. We rented a cabin for a week which was very nice. It was a very warm week. The cabins do not have AC, but had fans. Normally, you would not need AC because it was an unusually warm week. During the day we would explore the Schoodic area and even headed north to Eastport and Lubec. This campground is in a perfect area, away from the Bar Harbor traffic. The CG owners told us about a shortcut to get to Bar Harbor which would bypass the Ellsworth traffic. It was a great week and we were pleased to return to a cool cabin due to the cool breeze off of the bay. We slept well. The cabins were very clean and cozy. TV reception was limited, but they did offer Wi-Fi. Do stop at Tracys for some great Lobster, seafood and ice cream. It is a short walk away. We would return to this place. Next time I will bring my RV as the Campground looked inviting and had stunning views of Mt Desert Island. We camped at Mountain View Campground in a Campground Cabin.

If you want to stay away from the crowds near Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor we would definitely recommend this campground. Although it is right next to US 1; it is a fairly quiet spot especially at night when the traffic dies down, but even the daytime traffic is tolerable and fairly light most times. We were in the "upper" area near the office which does not offer the great views that the "lower" camping area does, but we could still see the water and we had great WI-FI near the office. The sites are large, the owner offered very helpful instructions on where to eat and what to do in the area along with the "short cut" to Acadia. The only drawback to the park was the extra $3/day charge if you wanted to use A/C or electric heat despite the fact that you already are charged $2/night for 50 amp service, so if you want both 50 amp and A/C plan on spending $5/day extra. Over the air TV only found 2 channels and the reception was poor at that, no cable available here. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and all the great sites in the area and would return here again in the future. We camped at Mountain View Campground in a Motorhome.

Beautiful view of Acadia National Park and Flanders Bay. This is a good location from which to explore Ellsworth, Schoodic Peninsula and Bar Harbor without being in the busy area of Bar Harbor. Big rigs are put in an upper, un-wooded area of the campground. Smaller rigs, trailers, and tents are right at waterfront. They charge an additional fee for use of air conditioning and 50 amp. The campground is pretty simple, but the view is lovely, even from the upper area. The owner was lovely, and very helpful. We would stay here again, definitely. Our second visit, a four night stay. About a 30 mile drive to Bar Harbor, well worth the drive. Lovely campground on the water, quiet, nicely maintained, pleasant amount of space between sites. Looking forward to another visit. We camped at Mountain View Campground in a Motorhome.

The previous review told much of the story. Nice owners and great location if you prefer not to deal every day with the Bar Harbor crowd. You can put a kayak in here at the campground or go 1/4 mile down the road to a public access ramp for a bit larger boat. My only complaint here was the condition of the bathrooms/showers. The building is falling down and unkept. It was always filled with insects. It seems as if the owners either don't see the condition of this or don't care. Could have given it a 9 but just can't get past the bathrooms. We camped at Mountain View Campground in a Motorhome.
