We stayed in the wide-open meadow area with great satellite and cellphone reception. Forested areas are available. Good roads. Gravel, level, long pad. All the amenities, but we didn't use them because it was cold. Hosts are very helpful and accommodating. They are about ? the cost of staying in Bar Harbor, and it's only 10-15 minutes of pretty driving away. We would definitely stay here again in our 38' motorhome with towed Jeep. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Eat at Union River Lobster Pot, about 10 min. away. Beautiful scenery, and the best lobster dinner I've had in our week of eating exclusively lobster. Lulu's lobster boat trip was a 10! We saw a lot and learned a lot. The Acadia NP Abbe Museum (next to the Gardens) is great--talk with the ticket taker, a well-educated anthropologist who knows everything.

Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park serving both long-term seasonals and travelers. Traveler sites are very long, gravel, spacious, and level. Rate reflects October pricing; the park closed on Oct. 15. There is a book exchange in the laundry room which was very clean and well maintained. We didn't use their restrooms. Office/store had a nice selection of gifts and RV supplies. Hosts were very friendly and offered information about the area for shopping and sightseeing. Our Verizon MiFi was strong; we didn't use the park's system. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a great location for touring Acadia National Park and the Ellsworth area. There are many locations to buy fresh lobster. Ruth & Wimpys (792 Hwy. 1, Hancock) was great for dinner and the Hannaford supermarket (225 High St, Ellsworth) had a great selection of fresh, natural, organic, and gluten-free foods.

Nice campground with very long level sites. The interior roads are rough. We were in the open meadow area which allowed us to use our Dish satellite. Sites are well spaced. The laundry room has lots of washers and dryers and was very clean with nice folding table, baskets and racks. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The park is Great for visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Lobster and service were very good at Galyn's in Bar Harbor where there are tables with water views.

You must ask for site #263. You could hold a small concert on the patio side and because of the huge 100 foot long sites and the fact this site is facing opposite from the one next, your neighbor is way far away. They need another restroom on the bottom of the park, long walk to the restroom in the upper area.
Restrooms were fine. Transients are mostly located in the bottom area in a wide open meadow with no shade but great satellite reception. Cell coverage spotty. WiFi was very good. Sites were level and gravel. Easy check in and wide roads. Small but nice pool. Friendly helpful staff. Would stay again. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The view from the top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park is breathtaking.

The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. You are presented with an information "pack" for the area on check in along with 2 delicious chocolates a really nice touch. It's a large park with exceptionally long sites which have a fire ring and a good condition picnic table. The roads are tarmac and gravel pads with a large area between sites. The pads could be graded a little better but we had no problem levelling our rig. Trash pick up before 10am and a good recycling area. Wifi very good especially considering the size of the park. No cable but main channels very good on antenna. We certainly recommend staying here. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Great location for Acadia National Park. Also two delightful shops close by. Maine's Own Treats for their jams and Maine-ly Maine for their delicious fudge, on tasting I went back for more.

This is an older RV park, but it is clean and well-maintained. Most of the shady part of the park appears to be seasonal customers. We are near where most short-termers are likely to find themselves. Much of that are generous pull-though spots out in the open.

We are finally here, after having to cancel an earlier visit when our RV wasn't ready to be on the road. The nice folks at Timberland Acres allowed us to cancel -- and without paying a cancellation penalty. So they were the first RV park we thought of when we were finally able to make the trek north to Maine. I had read reviews about the open fields, so we asked ahead of time for something shady -- and have a wonderful pull-through spot! So thank you for that, Timberland Acres!

Zero complaints so far. The two ladies who checked us in couldn't have been nicer. We're here at the end of September to see Bar Harbor & Acadia Nat. Park, so don't have a need for organized activities. A couple of pluses: the dumpsters are next to recycling stations, so kudos for that.

While other RV parks are closer to Bar Harbor and Acadia, Timberland has this going for it: It is equidistant from a Super Walmart, grocery stores, an auto parts place and other shopping, as well as assorted restaurants in Trenton. All are west of the campground. In the other direction is Trenton Bridge Lobster Pond, a great place to order those crustaceans. Reasonable prices east or west.

A suggestion for RVers coming in from I-95. You'll pass a few gas stations right after you get off the Interstate. Stop at one of them and fill up. Doesn't matter which one. They all charge the same. But the gas there will be 10 cents a gallon cheaper (for unleaded) than you'll find as you get in Trenton and Bar Harbor. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

Great park for access to Acadia National Park. Sites are spacious in open grassy area. Interior roads are rough but serviceable. Large area of long term units separated from transients. We were there over weekend when craft fair was going on inside park. Located on main road down to Bar Harbor so it can be a little testy getting out. Wonderful area - so much we wished we had stayed longer. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This RV park is about a half-hour from Arcadia NP and Bar Harbor. We were placed way back in the park - basically a huge open field where RV spots were laid out. Very busy place - lots of "long termers" as well as rigs coming and going. One of the few RV parks we've been in that would let me wash our rig and car (albeit for a $10 fee). WiFi is so-so, there was no cable TV, and over-the-air stations were sparse (about 4). Front office gave us a huge amount of brochures pertaining to local attractions. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Arcadia NP and Bar Harbor are must-sees. A modern Walmart is just up the road. Be aware that the main road running in front of the park is extremely busy - you can wait several minutes before a spot opens to jut out into traffic.

This is a nice campground with wide paved roads and gravel sites and very large grassy areas between sites and great fire pits. There are several sites in the "upper" section with many trees, but our site was in an open field, so we had no satellite issues. Our pull through site itself was about 100' long, so unhooking was not necessary unless you wanted to. We did need to use an extender to adequately use the wifi. While we did not use the pool, it appeared a little small for the number of potential campers. The campground is very easy to access, but it is 14 miles from Acadia. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

Located midway between the attractions of Bar Harbor/Acadia and the stores and restaurants of Ellsworth, this CG is a good base for exploring the area. We stayed four nights in a large, level, grass pullthrough. Unfortunately there are almost no trees in the transient areas (seasonals are in the woods). We enjoyed the visit and will stay here again if we should return to this part of Maine. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Buy fuel, groceries, etc in Ellsworth to avoid the "Bar Harbor Price Shock."

This campground is conveniently located on State Highway 3, approximately 14 miles from Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park and 2 miles from Ellsworth. Entrance to park is large for easy in/out access. Check-In was easy and the ladies manning the desk were extremely helpful and accommodating. Interior roads were a bit bumpy and in need of a repair, so take it easy when traveling in/out with your rig. The campground offers shaded areas located near the front of the park and are primarily back-in sites and closer together. Pull-through open sites, which are fairly spacious and long, are in the back of the park for large rigs/satellite users. All sites were gravel and level. We asked for an open site in order to use our satellite dish and were assigned site # 209, and later site # 225 when we decided to add an extra night. The park offers only one laundry site for the entire park, but it was extremely clean. Other amenities included shower house (we did not use, so cannot comment on condition), Wi-Fi (at Recreation Room and Pavilion), fire ring, dump station, propane filing, recycling, playground, basketball, horseshoes, and shuffleboard. Every day, from late June to early September, the park has a free daily shuttle service to the Acadia Gateway Center. You need to check with the office staff for the schedule. Visitors to your campsite will be charged a per-person visitor fee, so inquire about that if you plan on having guests over. We stayed here for 4-nights in our Class A motorhome. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This is an easy in, easy out park with huge ( long) pull thru sites. Utilities are good and we had great wifi parked near the pavilion. No cable but satellite is good since the pull thru sites are in the middle of a field. There are seasonals but most are parked in the woodsy section and everything is well kept and clean. Good Verizon signal. About 16 miles to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Shopping is just a couple miles away in Ellsworth. We stayed here 8 nights. There are other campgrounds closer to the park but for an extra 10 minute drive, this is a good place to stay that will save you a few bucks away in Ellsworth. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.
