The lady at the front office, is wonderful! She gives clear, concise instructions and is very helpful. The facility is immaculately maintained and go above and beyond to assist in your every need. They have upgraded since last reviews. If a repair is needed, they even assist in repairing or finding someone who can. The sites are nestled in between two of the three golf courses, so you might even see the President or other dignitaries playing. Very quiet, very clean. Only 9 miles to Washington, DC, so is strategically located for touring. Base has hospital, large commissary and exchange, dog walks and bike and running paths throughout. I will stay here again next summer! We camped at Andrews AFB FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Fifth Wheel.
Washington, DC, National Harbor, Mt. Vernon are all within 10 miles. Great place to stay. Come thru the back gate/commercial gate; as the other gates have weight limits and they may need to inspect your RV.

This FamCamp is an embarrassment to the AF and the issues need to be addressed ASAP. Sites need leveling and graveled. The power needs to be upgraded desperately as does the sewer. The 30 amp is very old and there is no 50 amp. The sewer connections are very low, some beneath grade, and they are at the very rear of the site. The roads are a mess, potholed, mud, and very little gravel. There are puddles that form long enough for the mosquitoes to hatch. The solution - Scrape a little trench across the road. The managers are very nice people but do not seem to have the motivation to make improvements. Another major issue is the number of homesteaders here. Some rigs have been here long enough that leveling blocks are sunken in. The laundry is $2.50 a load and the machines are old. The most redeeming quality of this park is it's cost and location. You're close to DC and the Metro is only a few minutes away. We camped at Andrews AFB FamCamp (Military Camping Only) in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

Previous issues with the campground remain. But the price is right and the location is excellent. The campground is adequate and it was worth it being here. That being said it has some issues. The grass is haphazardly mowed not trimmed well and there are potholes in the road. The staff is friendly enough but not that confident. Most sites are level but some are not. Most of these issues can be fixed with training and someone a little motivation on the part the grounds crew. We spoke with the Director of Outdoor Recreation (who runs the campground) and found they are trying and there are improvements on the way. Close to Washington DC is the only good thing I can report about this park. Sites uneven and large rock made for difficult walking around site. Very outdated buildings. However, base had three golf courses. Rank has it's privileges. Park is in various stages of disrepair. Camp host is doing his best to keep the park going but the word is that no money will be spent on the park. This was very disappointing as this could be a great benefit to retired folks visiting the area. Would look for another campground in the area next time. For the price and convenience, you get what you pay for. The campground is small, but clean. There are few sites with nice views of the golf course, but we weren't camping here for the Andrews experience. We were camping here for a low cost and secure way of visiting places in DC. Staff was helpful finding the best route in and back out of town. Commissary and BX are a short drive away. We will definitely stay here again on future trips to the area. You must be active duty or retired military to use this campground. Where do I start? I guess I'll start with the one good thing, which is the price. You just can't beat the price. Now for the bad, and the list is lengthy, so I'll just list them out. The sites aren't maintained at all, trash on the ground, office is only open 2 hours a day, no playground, horrible road (potholes everywhere), no Wi-Fi, no cable TV, tons of road noise from the road next to base, seasonals that have been here for years (supposed to be a two week max), and tons of bugs (mosquitoes). The last isn't because of being on the east coast in a humid environment either. It's because of all of the standing water. I have stayed here before out of necessity, this time was for airshow. There will not be a next time. The Air Force really needs to put some money into this campground instead of the 36 hole golf course which drains all the money away.
