According to the rating I gave this RV park, you can see I wasn't too impressed. Let me first say that Andrews AFB is the President's Flagship Base as Air Force 1 is housed here and all the officers and personnel that keep everything in Presidential order. This FamCamp is an embarrassment to the base - in my opinion. It is old and apparently suppose to be upgraded but it is obvious that no work has been done to make improvements even though areas are roped off and those areas are totally unkempt with tall grass and neglected. The area that is being used is mowed where the RV's park, but the center section is growing wild. It is overgrown as close as 4' from the back of the RV and full of no-see-ums and jiggers. There is only 30 amp available. We have a 50 amp unit and have used 30 amp many times without problems. We simply use one a/c. In this park, 30 amp may as well have been plugging our RV into a household plug. If I ran an a/c the only other items that could be on were the LED lights. To take a shower we had to turn off the air (it was 94 while we were here), turn on the water heater and let the water get hot, take the shower then turn off the water heater and turn on the air. One thing at a time. Couldn't use the microwave or convection oven at all. And this after we had them put a new 30 amp breaker on the pole. When we first got here, the breaker kept tripping no matter what we did. The person working in the office claims I told her I had a 36' unit (I did not - that would not be to my benefit to say such a thing. We are 39') and that was the only reason she made the reservation for us. What difference 3 feet makes to the power pole is beyond me. She was very rude and argumentative. It is mostly her tone and attitude. We did not hit it off well at all. We will not be back. Although Andrews is a great place for visiting DC, I would not recommend this RV park. We camped at Andrews AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Half of the park was closed for reconstruction, the other half was neglected. Site had concrete pad which was the most positive aspect of the park. One staff member was rude and seemed to think answering questions was not in job duties. Roads gravel, muddy and potholed, restrooms were clean but really outdated, staff seemed to think it was okay to leave mops and brooms anywhere they stopped using them.

Grass around office area trimmed and mowed, rest of areas and campsites grass was 12-18 inches tall. Grass around dog area fencing mowed, inside not mowed. Piles of limbs and leaves everywhere.

Half of park being rebuilt/upgraded to 50 amp, but placement of utilities made no sense. While a very good location for visiting Washington DC, a disappointing park. One would think that the support base for the Presidential fleet of aircraft would be a showplace in all its facilities.

Base Exchange being remodeled but open for business, commissary large. Golf course one of the best I've ever seen on a military base. We camped at Andrews AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

This is a very pleasant campground nestled among the trees. The wifi did not work for us at our site. Maybe in the rec room? We had full hookups. There are 2 washers and 2 (1 broken) dryers in the laundry room with an iron and board. The rec room had a pool table, ping pong table, and fooseball. Our site had a concrete pad but the roadway around the campground was pitted and very uneven. Sites were kind of tight. We camped at Andrews AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

We are retired military. We stayed at this campground many years back when we full timed in our RV as well as had been stationed here previously. The campground is an older one and I believe they have done a good job in keeping up the park considering cash is not likely flowing to them. When I called for reservations, I was not going to be able to get full hookups for the entire week we were there and agreed to take an electric only site (which is close quarters). prior to leaving on our trip, the staff called to say they had a place for us - full hook up for our entire time. They were as friendly in person as on the phone. There was some road noise as a main street is just over the fence line and an occasional take off to get your attention :)) We camped at Andrews AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

First time staying at this campground. Found it very nice to use while visiting the DC area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Originally booked in an electric only site but was moved up to full hook up when one came available. We would stay there again when in the area. Camped in a Class C motorhome. We camped at Andrews AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

The park has gotten a upgrade since I last stayed here. All sites have a concrete pads now. Just wide enough for your RV. The electric is old and only 30 Amp. The roads are gravel and not maintained very well at all. When it rains it gets very muddy. All in all you can't beat the location. close to dc. The lady at the front office, is wonderful! She gives clear, concise instructions and is very helpful. The facility is immaculately maintained and go above and beyond to assist in your every need. They have upgraded since last reviews. If a repair is needed, they even assist in repairing or finding someone who can. The sites are nestled in between two of the three golf courses, so you might even see the President or other dignitaries playing. Very quiet, very clean. Only 9 miles to Washington, DC, so is strategically located for touring. Base has hospital, large commissary and exchange, dog walks and bike and running paths throughout. I will stay here again next summer! We camped at Andrews AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Washington, DC, National Harbor, Mt. Vernon are all within 10 miles. Great place to stay. Come thru the back gate/commercial gate; as the other gates have weight limits and they may need to inspect your RV.

This FamCamp is an embarrassment to the AF and the issues need to be addressed ASAP. Sites need leveling and graveled. The power needs to be upgraded desperately as does the sewer. The 30 amp is very old and there is no 50 amp. The sewer connections are very low, some beneath grade, and they are at the very rear of the site. The roads are a mess, potholed, mud, and very little gravel. There are puddles that form long enough for the mosquitoes to hatch. The solution - Scrape a little trench across the road. The managers are very nice people but do not seem to have the motivation to make improvements. Another major issue is the number of homesteaders here. Some rigs have been here long enough that leveling blocks are sunken in. The laundry is $2.50 a load and the machines are old. The most redeeming quality of this park is it's cost and location. You're close to DC and the Metro is only a few minutes away. We camped at Andrews AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Previous issues with the campground remain. But the price is right and the location is excellent. The campground is adequate and it was worth it being here. That being said it has some issues. The grass is haphazardly mowed not trimmed well and there are potholes in the road. The staff is friendly enough but not that confident. Most sites are level but some are not. Most of these issues can be fixed with training and someone a little motivation on the part the grounds crew. We spoke with the Director of Outdoor Recreation (who runs the campground) and found they are trying and there are improvements on the way. We camped at Andrews AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Close to Washington DC is the only good thing I can report about this park. Sites uneven and large rock made for difficult walking around site. Very outdated buildings. However, base had three golf courses. Rank has it's privileges. Park is in various stages of disrepair. Camp host is doing his best to keep the park going but the word is that no money will be spent on the park. This was very disappointing as this could be a great benefit to retired folks visiting the area. Would look for another campground in the area next time. For the price and convenience, you get what you pay for. The campground is small, but clean. There are few sites with nice views of the golf course, but we weren't camping here for the Andrews experience. We were camping here for a low cost and secure way of visiting places in DC. Staff was helpful finding the best route in and back out of town. Commissary and BX are a short drive away. We will definitely stay here again on future trips to the area. You must be active duty or retired military to use this campground. Where do I start? I guess I'll start with the one good thing, which is the price. You just can't beat the price. Now for the bad, and the list is lengthy, so I'll just list them out. The sites aren't maintained at all, trash on the ground, office is only open 2 hours a day, no playground, horrible road (potholes everywhere), no Wi-Fi, no cable TV, tons of road noise from the road next to base, seasonals that have been here for years (supposed to be a two week max), and tons of bugs (mosquitoes). The last isn't because of being on the east coast in a humid environment either. It's because of all of the standing water. I have stayed here before out of necessity, this time was for airshow. There will not be a next time. The Air Force really needs to put some money into this campground instead of the 36 hole golf course which drains all the money away. We camped at Andrews AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.
