Absolutely beautiful park! Well-maintained, spacious, spotless gravel sites. Bathrooms were clean. Didn't use the wifi. Satellite reception was excellent. Recreation areas for kids were superb featuring splash park and pools. Movie night and popcorn were a big hit for the grandkids. Amenities, including bus service to DC, are too many to list. This is a top notch RV park and one of the best ones we have stayed at. There is some highway noise in the area we stayed at, so check the site map and choose your site accordingly. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

The perfect park in which to stay for visiting the DC area. Buses come into the park and drop you at Metro station. If you don't have kids I would suggest you ask for a site far from pools and cafe. It stays really busy in that area. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit the National Pentagon Memorial and Arlington Cemetery. There is a Metro stop at Pentagon and one at Arlington Cemetery. You never have to drive your car out of the park for touring! The Air Force Memorial is also near the Pentagon 911 Memorial but probably a good 15 minute walk away. With advance notice, you can try for a Pentagon Tour (2-12 week advance sign up because they run a background check). Clearance/confirmation takes a long time. White House tours are about the same way.

Thanks for staying with us, and we're glad you had a great visit to DC! We second your advice on White House tours - it takes a while to set up a tour through your congressperson, and some of our guests have been disappointed.

First off we won two free nights at a RV show, however this review is not bias, this is one of the finest campgrounds in the country. I will start with the check in they are ready for you with nice lanes outside the office, inside the office you will find friendly and intelligent staff, the campground has a gate that works and guard that is there most of the time. It has adequate wifi something you rarely see in a campground of this size, excellent cable, incredible over the air tv stations, good electricity, very good water pressure, very good to great cellular coverage. This is the closest campground to Washington, DC, there is bus station on site that will take you to the nearby Metro station. The amenities are endless they have a splash park for little kids, a kids pool an a adult pool, a hot tub, and great playgrounds. They have a very good restaurant and virtually free miniature golf, ($1 donation to a children's hospital, kids under 5 play free). I have been to this campground many times and this was the best visit, I believe they are really putting their money back into this campground. OK now for the bad stuff you are close to two major highways this is great for its location however not so great for some visitors for sleeping I had no problem it soon became white noise for me but there was some compliant from my friends, some of the sites are small, mine wasn't.

If you are a tourist take advantage of the campground's tourist center it is awesome!!! We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay with us (and congratulations on winning the drawing)! Thanks for the feedback, and we appreciate you mentioning the noise issue - we know that it can be a problem for some of our guests, so we encourage anyone who's sensitive to background noise to let us know at check-in. We're always happy to help make sure someone's in a spot on the quieter side of the park. We hope we'll see you again soon, whether at our park or another RV show. Happy trails!

To see D.C., this park is perfect. There is a bus that comes right to the park and takes you to subway station. We found this VERY convenient. Never had to drive. The campground is well managed, and you can purchase D.C. tours at the office. The campground is well maintained, and there are GREAT provisions for your pets. There are dog walking areas and references for someone who can walk them for you. The pool area is very nice, there are 2 pools, an elaborate recreation area as well as snack bar. The only drawback we had was that the sites are rather small. I wouldn't have been happy with that if I wasn't there to tour D.C. This is probably why they are small, people don't hang out at the campsites much. We will definitely stay here again when we go to D. C. again. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

I was happier to drive to metro station, rather than take the bus. The bus runs once an hour, and it was really hot when we were there. We didn't want to have to wait for the bus. It is convenient to drive to the station and park. I think it was 5 bucks..This allowed us to stop and eat at a couple local restaraunts near campground, rather than eat in D.C. where everything is expensive and crowded.

Thanks for staying with us, and we're glad you had a great stay! As far as site size, you're right on the money; due to our proximity to DC, our sites are a bit smaller than at a more rural campground so that we can keep our prices reasonable while maintaining our grounds and amenities to a high standard. We hope we'll see you again for your next trip to DC!

This is an exquisite Resort Park, and a great home base to visit Washington. The site was excellent, water at 45 psi with two hoses attached, sewer excellent, and 50 amp circuit was perfect. Site was level and very well maintained. The park is spotless and nice flower pots in many areas. The amenities are terrific, two pools, hot tub, sauna and a very clean laundry room. Lots for the kids to do, with an outdoor movie every night. On site snack bar is terrific with fresh cinnamon buns and Herseys ice cream. Never been in a nicer park. Expensive, but good value. They do charge for occupants including children and pets. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Fifth Wheel.

Public bus comes into park for transportation to the College Park Metro Station. This is most convenient. Supermarket less than one mile away. They give an orientation lecture about D.C. and the metro, which is excellent. We took the night tour, with a wonderful guide who got off the bus at every stop to explain things to us. He was funny and had very interesting stories.

Clean restrooms and showers. Lots are very close with a sunny, open exposure. My only complaint is that the restroom/shower was a little farther than most parks. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

The Spy Museum was disappointing. $36 for two seniors. Waited 15 minutes for the elevator to the start of the museum. Rooms quite small and dark. Difficult to read the display signs because of poor lighting and very crowded rooms. Kids seem to love it, but not recommended for seniors.

Closest campground to downtown D.C. Suggest one drive to Metro Station four miles away on U of Maryland Campus and take green line in and out. Hit rush hour coming back by 4:00. This is a huge park (400 sites?). Because of size one has to pay attention getting around inside park with so many side streets. Sites are right on top of each other and many rigs had to really push into the bushes to fit. Suggest one rent a premium site. Level and more tidy. Many activities. All of D.C. is generally overgrown, dirty and unkept, busy, and noisy and this park, at least for me, reflects that feeling. This is a good place to stay for visiting D.C. but not for a camping experience. We stayed four nights. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Fifth Wheel.

A very nice, very large campground and well run. No escort to your site. The water and sewer hookups for my site were towards the front of the lot. This was only a quick stopover for a few days so I waited to dump until the last day. The site was crushed stone and had a nice patio. The back of my lot was a ditch that had tall grass that needed cut. But it was an end site with plenty of room between each site. They had a nice store with a lot of supplies and camping equipment. This CG is a home base for going into DC for sightseeing. They offer informational sessions for tips and tricks on getting to and around DC. I will return but only after I forget how much of a nightmare the traffic is in DC. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

DC traffic is terrible, plan accordingly. The Metro is the best way to get around the DC area but the bus trip from the CG to the Metro makes several stops. Give yourself enough time to get to your destination if you have time commitments. Also, the College Park Metro station (the one closest to the CG) has NOTHING nearby (no restaurants, shops, etc.). We had a very boring 40 minute wait for the bus to bring us back on a weekend (the buses do not run as often on the weekends).

We agree, the traffic in DC is rough - taking the Metro is the way to go! Thanks for staying with us, and we'd love to see you again next time you're up for braving the Beltway. If you'd like an escort next time, please know that we do provide escorts upon request, so just ask at the office when you check in. Happy trails!

Stayed 5 nights here towards the back. Our site was very level and was full hook up with cable. Wifi was strong and fast. Large areas for dog walking. One pool is heated, other is not. Big Laundry facility near pool. Well stocked store for RV parts. We drove to the Metro station and rode the Metro in. Park is very busy due to location and how nice the park is. Some highway noise, but expected with location, and not too loud. Of note, people pack up and leave early to get out of town before the weekday rush hour traffic, one guy left at 4am! Most left before 6am! We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Travel Trailer.

Metro is key to getting around DC. Traffic is 2+ hours to go 18 miles! Crazy. Laundry can get busy later in the evening. Park has an ice bag vending machine! Was nice to get ice whenever we wanted and to have the cooler right there and not have to break the ice up.

There are a lot of good things to say about this park. The roads are paved the sites are crushed stone and level. Each site has a table and fire ring. The cable, water, and electric are great. The WiFi is excellent, at least in site 1313 where we stayed. The only issue that keeps it from getting a 10 is the closeness to your neighbor, although there is room for slide outs. The length of the sites are just long enough for your rig and tow vehicle. Large motor homes do abound in the park, but their toad must be parked parallel to the road in front of the motor home. You can visit the capitol and Gettysburg or just relax in the park. The miniature golf is well maintained and is only $1, the proceeds go to Children's Hospital. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They give all the information you need for travel in and out of DC by the near Metro station. We would be glad to stay here again. Stayed a week and decided this park is about as close to perfect as it gets in my humble opinion. Interior roads are paved and named so it's easy to navigate. Site was gravel and very close to level. Quite a bit of rain but no puddling. Lots of amenities at this park including multiple pools, propane service, nitely movie (kid oriented), large laundry with folding tables. Pet sitting service, dog walking service. Restrooms/showers were very clean. I especially liked the carpet drying fans running in the bathhouses. It really helps keep humidity down. Wish more parks used them. We attended the sightseeing session and got lots of useful info. We easily utilized Metro to go all the way to Mount Vernon for the day. Sure beats driving in the area. Wonderful staff and very good c-store with the essentials and some. Good selection of RV accessories if you needed something as well. You can also just charge your purchases to your site. Cafe was decent and moderately priced. Metro access was a plus for us and we didn't drive into DC or surrounding areas at all. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Travel Trailer.

Closest park to DC, and they offer so much: bus to local metro rail, pre-loaded Metro cards in office, dog walker on premises, hiking trail that is great for walking dogs (or yourself), over 400 spaces from back-in to premium pull through, daily sightseeing seminars from people who know their stuff, tours that leave from the property, add or subtract nights with no penalty (unheard of), café, two pools, hot tub, putt putt, water parks for kiddies, nightly movies, strong and free wifi. Wow. Cons: this is a busy park, so if you cannot stand people go elsewhere; The back-in sites aren't quite long enough for longer trailers and tow vehicles so there are many trucks parallel parked on the street which makes it a little tight driving around. Still, as a base for exploring the city they are about perfect. Our site had open access for satellite, but if you wanted more shaded, they have that, too.
